About the Role:

Brooks Automation is a fast-paced technology company that works on the forefront of Semiconductor Robotics and Automation solutions as we continue to push the capabilities of robotics inside of semiconductor fabs. We are now looking for an experienced Production Planner to join our team in Johor Bahru at our brand-new manufacturing facility.

The Production Planner will have a solid background in Manufacturing within the Semiconductor industry, strong organizational skills, and the ability to optimize production schedules to meet business objectives . You will oversee and assist with planning, scheduling, and monitoring the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials. This will include responsibility for inventory levels, capacity planning, and on-time shipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Oracle MRP and similar applications multiple times weekly, per area to assure timely responsiveness to changes in demand (Customer bookings, safety stock builds, and Master Production Scheduled material fulfillment needs) that trigger updated production planning.

• Attend and manage SIOP and R&O meetings for an individual product line(s).

• Creates and releases Production Orders in support of the above, with keen awareness of needed completion dates, component and capacity availability, and any other resource issues needed to support on-time delivery to internal and external customers.

• Research and analyze root causes of late deliveries in support of corrective actions needed to drive delivery improvement. Also able to perform similar actions proactively for future demand.

• Support the ongoing Quality Management by ensuring all applicable policies, procedures, and work instructions comply.

• Conduct regular review of inventory levels in areas of responsibility to minimize inventory while assuring adequate component and finished goods stock to support corporate delivery and financial goals; take actions needed to avoid slow and excess inventory.

• Based on re-order points or customers’ orders, schedule production orders while optimizing manufacturing sequence .

• Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or a related field with 7-8 years' experience in a manufacturing plant, ideally within the Semiconductor industry.

• Strong understanding of Production Planning and Scheduling processes.

• Proficiency in production planning software and tools.

• Strong analytical skills to interpret production data and performance metrics.

• Familiarity with ERP systems & knowledge of lean manufacturing principles . Oracle ERP experience is a plus.

• Ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production and non-production areas to be more efficient and reduce waste.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

You will:

• Plans, organizes, controls and executes a production schedule for a in house product or new products development including trial/project coordination.
• Develops production schedules based on actual and forecasted demand, product demand profiles including both local/export customer needs.
• Ensures quality and integrity of information used to generate materials requirements plan.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to address any delays or issues.
• Coordinate with various departments (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, quality control) and even external group such as demand planner and supply chain to ensure seamless production processes and meeting the deliveries.
• Participates in the Project introduction of new products and supports the transfer/de-transfer of existing products through planning and analyzing of common and unique materials (MOQ review) in support of project deadlines.
• Communicates information on materials availability to support build plans throughout the product life cycle.
• Maintains knowledge of monthly volume fluctuations and determines the materials required.
• Provides information to internal production on demand variances/changes.
• Develops and communicates short- and long-term commitments to both local and export customers.
• Coordinates necessary resources to meet shipment commitments.
• Develops recovery plans if production plans missed and export order shipments to be first priority.
• Lead and drive key projects aimed at improving planning efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing overall operational performance.
• Provides training, guidance and may assign work to less experienced employees.
• Mentor and train junior planners to develop their skills and knowledge.

KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintaining a six month production master
schedule which takes into account the customer
forecasts whilst maximizing operation efficiencies
and increasing the plant’s throughout in accordance
with business planning horizons;

• Ensuring the timely issuance of accurate
production orders to enable all related departments
to have adequate time for material planning and
procurement, toolings and resource planning;

• Monitoring the production processes and
adjusting schedules when necessary and ensuring
that the production schedule is adhered to and that
products are produced efficiently, with appropriate
resources, at the right quality and in the most cost
effective manner.;

• Working closely with the Plant manager in the
analysis and reporting on production performance
against the prescribed standard and production
schedule adherence on a daily, weekly and monthly
basis.

• Reporting on all production backlogs to the
management immediately to ensure that the
necessary operations can be expedited to remediate
delays to the schedule.

• Altering schedules to meet urgent customer
requests and to avoid any delays resulting from
unforeseen conditions.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have the following experience:
• 2-5 years of production planning/scheduling
experience within a manufacturing environment
(preferably with experience in high volume
manufacturing);
• Demonstratable Knowledge and experience in
Lean Manufacturing, GMP, JIT and capacity
planning;
• A confident communicator and team player and
strong verbal and written skills, adept at partnering
across business functions;
• Exposure to lean working and continuous
improvement (kaizen) practices including production
planning within a lean environment;
• Analytical and practical approach to problem
solving;
• Well organised, meticulous, logical and
methodical thinker;
• Effective negotiator with demonstrable project
