Job Description
- Establish, review, implement and maintain Lean methodologies to increase throughput, reduce excess inventory and reduce operating cost.
- Do 'whatever it takes' to meet or exceed our customers' expectation in compliance with the Quality Policy.
- Establish and maintain Lean programs. Develop/review/maintain Lean training package. Develop/maintain and implement Lean core projects like 5S, TPM etc.
- Train all employees on Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Participate in productivity improvement and cost savings projects.
- Stay up to date on the latest developments and trends in Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Practice Risk-Based Thinking in planning and execution of tasks.
- Ensure compliance with ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, and applicable codes.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, ESD, Clean room and Housekeeping guidelines.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time.
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering qualification or its equivalents with at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in MNC industries.

Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the core function of the role is to lead and provide technical expertise on all aspects of process engineering, process improvement projects and troubleshooting of existing processes and equipment within a large, complex mechanical assembly environment. Candidates will be technically minded and have worked on scale-up as well as projects across all different areas within the business, liaising with Engineering, Program, Quality, Manufacturing and Customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Ensures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs; reviewing production capacity; estimating future requirements
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
- Maintains product and process by establishing work instructions, procedures, checklists and others to enable the manufacturing process within safety guidelines
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Interact with customers to resolve moderately difficult process engineering issues/problems under general supervision

Education & Experience Requirements:
- 2 ~ 4 years of work experience in manufacturing engineering and lean manufacturing of complex mechanical builds
- Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Or related engineering. Diploma holders with > 3 years of working experience can be considered.
- Strong background in workmanship standard, for example, cables and harness, mechanical hardware, chassis and hardware assembly fittings would be an advantage.
- Has dealt with semiconductor equipment assembly; wafer sorter / EFFEM would be an added advantage. Front End / Back End / PDU (AC/DC Power Distribution Box)
- Understand BOM and the engineering change process

You will be an integral part of our engineering team providing quality technical insights and support to ExxonMobil’s manufacturing facilities globally, encompassing refineries and chemical plants. Depending on your experience level, you will be designated as either a Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE) with a pathway to Advanced Manufacturing Process Engineer (AMPE), or straight to an AMPE role. Position is based in Kuala Lumpur. What you will do
Advanced Manufacturing Process Engineer:
Provide longer-term process engineering technical deliverables with a focus on broader fleet and platform-specific initiatives. Collaborate with Senior Manufacturing Process Engineers to drive implementation of continuous improvement elements e.g. technology-focused training, tools training, and innovative technical solutions. Provide formal and informal technical guidance to Process Engineers on manufacturing deliverables, in some cases directly involved in site optimization/troubleshooting initiatives.
Manufacturing Process Engineer:
As an extended member of the site technical team, you will provide high-frequency and long-term process unit monitoring and analysis for ExxonMobil’s global manufacturing facilities. Utilize commercial and proprietary advanced analytical tools & modeling software to provide technical insights, recommendations, and drive optimization opportunities. Perform high-level business stewardship activities including energy utilization, material balance, and unit improvement opportunity analysis.
About you
Skills and Qualifications Bachelor/Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with an excellent academic track record. 3 to 5 years of relevant energy industry experience in refining or chemical process technologies i.e. Crude Processing, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Heavy Oil Conversion, Hydroprocessing/Reforming, Alky, Amine Treating, Sulfur Recovery, Utilities System, Olefins, Aromatics, Butyl, Polypropylene. Those with adjacent manufacturing industry experience are also encouraged to apply. Be able to demonstrate intellectual rigor, drive, and proactiveness in leading change.
