As Head of Product Planning, you will lead strategic planning across the product lifecycle-from conception to end-of-life. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement long-term product strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Analyze market trends, competitor movements, and emerging technologies to guide product direction
  • Collaborate with global and local cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, aftersales, R&D) to ensure alignment
  • Lead model planning, feature mix, and volume forecasts based on customer insights and market demand
  • Manage product lifecycle activities including launch planning, updates, and phase-outs
  • Monitor product performance and generate data-driven reports to influence decision-making
  • Translate customer feedback into actionable improvements in product strategy

The Successful Applicant

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in product planning or product strategy within the automotive industry
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to translate market data into business strategy
  • Familiarity with both global product portfolios and local market dynamics
  • A strategic thinker who is also hands-on in execution
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; comfortable working with internal and principal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience in managing model mix planning, pricing strategies, and lifecycle management
  • A degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA is a plus

Job Purpose

Plays a critical role in assisting Head, Product Development in:-

  • Market analysis and research for the development of new and enhanced products and solutions
  • Implementation of new or enhanced products & services to meet customer needs and to drive business growth

Job Responsibilities

  • Gathering data in support of the product profitability assessment or product performance management.
  • Conducting research and benchmarking against competitors on new product developments.
  • Facilitating the development of the credit program and product programs, including review, renewal and development life-cycle for SME segment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and relevant working experience in the financial industry.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in banking with knowledge in the relevant business.
  • Strong business lending products knowledge including Trade and FX.
  • Preferably with Business Credit certification.
  • Excellent in MS Excel and ability to apply relevant Excel formulas for critical data analysis.
  • Must have proven attention to detail, with excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills by conducting root cause analysis and statistical analysis.
  • Good at MS Power Point and presentation skill.
  • Passion, high level of energy and strong sense of urgency for executing projects.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and perform under pressure.

You shall be responsible for research and development of new products, quality control, technical approvals, control of assigned product/product line from conception, prototyping, product testing, final product launches, meeting financial and corporate growth objectives.

• Develop product designs from design staff or manufacturers concepts.

• Review existing products for attribute enhancements and rejuvenation.

• Generate finalised engineering product drawings with critical dimensions, performance specifications, and quality specifications (standards and test procedures).

• Ensures that new products function properly, meet specifications, safety and regulatory standards and timing objectives.

• Generate product prototypes and perform product testing for internal evaluation and consumer feedback.

• Develop and evaluate cost analysis for new and modified product concepts from design through to production and launch to maximise product value.

• Plan and coordinate new product development as part of cross-function. development team including product management, marketing, finance and supply teams. Maintain product development schedules.

• Implement new products from prototyping, mold development, sample production, qualification, evaluation through first production run (launch).

• Set up quality control system and technical support in solving product quality problems with new and existing products.

• Assess, conduct factory visits and audit on manufacturers to ensure durability and quality of products.

• Liaise with testing bodies to ensure that product specifications are met and relevant approvals are obtained.

• Work on special projects as assigned such as evaluating competitive product, new processes, material, technologies and innovation

• Work closely with manufacturer to ensure manufacturability of product in accordance with our specification, performance, quality standards, cost, functionality, marketability and timely launch.

• Conduct market study and research for better product design that meet functionality and manufacturability issues

• Keep abreast of product standards and maintain records of standards.

• Prepare technical/product specifications for marketing purposes.

Job Requirements

• Diploma in a related field.

• Possess 3 years of related experience in research and development of new products.

• Strong creativity and technical knowledge of design, materials, and manufacturing processes (e.g., plastic, metal, textiles).

• Proven ability to develop concepts from design briefs into innovative solutions.

• Solid understanding of consumer needs, product aesthetics, and functionality.

  • Perform basic engineering calculations and support the creation of detailed process documentation for new product introductions.
  • Prepare and update product tables tailored to specific products or project needs, ensuring accuracy and consistency in product data.
  • Assist in the creation and review of Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring product designs align with manufacturing requirements.
  • Contribute to 3D modeling tasks and design validation using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo).
  • Work with the Purchasing team, China-based manufacturing plants, and external vendors, providing technical input and ensuring the manufacturability of designs.
  • Support the Testing team by preparing spool drawings and assisting in the development of product manuals and technical literature.
  • JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Approximately 2 years of relevant experience in product development, mechanical design, or engineering.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with BOM management, ERP systems, and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles is a plus.

We work in partnership with Greater Franchise Creative and Commercial teams to execute regional creative direction and regional business needs during the product development process.

    Job Description

    The Opportunity

    The Product Development Specialist (Product Approvals and Agency Oversight) assists in overseeing direct reports to elevate product development for global consumer product and marketing submissions for Mattel brands. They serve as the main Brand Assurance contact for Agent Partners. This role encompasses products developed across all our brands, categories, and regions, providing creative onboarding, timely feedback, and collaboration with creative teams, licensees, and agencies to resolve issues and support product approval processes.

    What Your Impact Will Be:

    • Act as brand guardian for licensed products from concept to final manufacturing.
    • Manage daily product approvals and development in our Product Approvals system.
    • Support licensees with development guidance and system usage.
    • Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports, Franchise Creative, and CP Commercial teams to facilitate business development.
    • Understand regional strategies from Franchise Creative and category managers to inform product development.
    • Ensure creative direction is properly executed.
    • Serve as a point of contact for agencies regarding Brand Assurance, best practices, and guidelines to ensure brand stewardship.
    • Contribute ideas and solutions to improve collaboration with the Global Franchise Creative team.

    What We’re Looking For:

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years of relevant experience in licensed consumer products.
    • Experience supervising direct reports.
    • Fluent in written and verbal English; additional languages are a plus.
    • Highly organized with strong multi-tasking skills across multiple projects.
    • Excellent relationship-building skills to navigate internal and external stakeholders.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
    • Proficiency in MS365 (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Preferred:

    • Background in creative design or product development.
    • Operations experience.
    • Knowledge of process improvement.
    • Solutions-oriented with creative problem-solving abilities.
