Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, or equivalent).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analysing input requests, identify right suppliers from the approved supplier panel.
  • Responsible for preparing RFQ's, quote analysis, negotiations, obtaining Sourcing Committee approvals and awarding new business to supplier to develop finished products, components and tooling.
  • Define PBL supplier sourcing strategy based on business needs, that defines strategic suppliers into grow, fix and exit suppliers and maintains product footprint, incl. "make or buy"-analysis. Introduce new suppliers in SEA, India Mexico, North America.
  • Accountable for info record and PO accuracy, transfer relevant data to SCM, (Incoterm, lead time, price, MOQ etc)
  • Drive attainment and improvement of relevant procurement KPI's, incl. Material Productivity (CMP), Lead time performance, delivery (STR/STC), and Quality (DLPM).
  • Responsible for improving material productivity by maintaining 125% material pipeline, CMP, TEBIT and WAV analysis and Drive VA/VE projects in collaboration with Engineering
  • Responsible for supplier price management, including PIA
  • Responsible for maintaining the capabilities and capacities of suppliers to avoid any constraints
  • Ensure and Drive MOQ optimization for material/components (incl. finished goods) used by the plant for production and establish supplier agreements, e. g. VMI, EDI, consignment, Scheduling Agreements frame order review, blanket PO)
  • Lead the consolidation of Supplier Footprint, incl. setup of new suppliers, reducing number of suppliers
  • Ensure that suppliers meet TE compliance requirements (RoHs, Reach, conflict minerals, supplier portals)
  • Responsible for contracting of supplier commercial agreements, incl. bailment, inventory management and supply agreements.
  • Responsible for conducting QBR's with strategic suppliers and the drive of respective corrective actions
  • Regularly carry out Suppliers risk assessments per business needs
  • Ensure data on OV tools is captured and delivered to finance.
  • Work with team on ISO Related documents, process and compliance check on regular frequency
  • Support the tactical buyer in the following tasks: inventory management components, manage outside product, and block invoices

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or above, Engineering background - Mechanical Engineering Preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing area
  • Experience in Electronics, Stamping, Machining, Molding, especially from connector, connector assembly or cable assembly industry is preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer focus and continues improvement
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with multi-cultural teams

Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Manager leads end-to-end procurement strategies for VAT Malaysia, driving cost efficiency, supplier performance, and regulatory compliance. The role partners with stakeholders to align business needs, manages supplier relationships and contracts, and achieves savings targets while fostering continuous improvement and developing a high-performing procurement team.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Stakeholder Satisfaction & Relationship Management:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders with strong business relationship to understand their procurement needs and provide appropriate solutions.

  • Be preferred local Business Partner and be the voice of business stakeholder's needs & requirements by understanding and relay business needs and requirements.
  • Provide outstanding services that meet stakeholders' needs to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction
  • Compliance and Regulatory Control:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. To provide strategies to increase compliance.

  • Develop, implement and manage all vendor relationships and services ensuring compliance to service level agreements.
  • Strategy and Suppliers Management:

  • Responsible for end to end management of VAT Malaysia plant, including category sourcing, projects in the pipeline, procurement process and policies and managing the spend and savings targets for the plant spend.

  • Align with VAT CH team to develop and execute strategy for indirect spend categories.
  • Lead the development of indirect strategies to drive cost savings and improve supplier performance.
  • Manage complex projects from conception through implementation, including change management
  • Establish and maintain supplier relationships, and facilitate periodic business reviews to continually identify process improvements and cost reduction opportunities
  • Manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and service level agreements
  • Contract Negotiation and Cost Management:

  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.

  • Monitor and report activities to ensure fulfilling service levels and take mitigation actions in case of non-fulfilment of agreements
  • Partner with legal to ensure proper forms of Agreement are utilized, contractor conformance with the terms and conditions of the Agreements, and refinement of Agreements as required.
  • Accountable for IDM spend & savings targets and objectives for VAT MY
  • Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve processes.
  • Supporting scrap management for the manufacturing plant.
  • Continuous improvement & Team Leadership:

  • Define and track the indirect procurement performance dashboard for the plant.

  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement while implementing development opportunities to to enhance their skills to be Subject Matter Expert and career development
  • Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's / Masters degree or equivalent work experience in Sourcing / Procurement with relevant experience of a minimum 10+ years in manufacturing plant environment.
  • Candidate must be a strong people manager, able to make informed decisions and manage detail and risk.
  • Working experience within a global complex organization.
  • Strong management and organizational skills to build teamwork and collaboration.
  • Builds strong and successful strategic supplier partnerships. Coaches and develop team and provides regular feedback and guidance.
  • Significant expertise in contract negotiation and supplier relationship management
  • Advanced and validated knowledge of procurement industry cost structures and drivers
  • General knowledge of applicable sourcing, planning, and logistics laws and regulations
  • Confirmed project management and process improvement experience
  • Ability to establish supplier specifications in conjunction with subject specialists, measure and drive conformance to specifications, and manage internal and supplier relationships to achieve desired results
  • Strength in meeting or exceeding project achievements and results, while multitasking and prioritizing
  • Capable of dealing in high stress environment, balancing operational and strategic priorities.
  • Hands-on attitude, strong leadership, influence and communication as well as the ability to partner with a wide range of organizations and interact regularly with senior management.
  • Strong analytical skills (risk based) and goal-driven thinking. Focus on the essential facts, with the ability to present results clearly and compellingly.

Job Purpose/Overview:

External manufacturing is a business priority for Asia, and it is positioned in our business strategy as a value growth driver. Growth of Ex Man in the next 3 years will be about 10% of Asia total NSV. It plays a pivotal role in driving Asia ambition on NS and MAC for the future.

The jobholder is responsible for the overall management & sourcing of the supplier base for External Manufacturing category and the management of the co packer network. The role is part of Asia MW Directs Commercial team, with a primary focus on strategy creation and execution to deliver long term competitive advantage. The role will ensure supply security by maximizing value and leveraging external capabilities for growth.

The role drives the alignment of internal stakeholders across the region and different functions to embed the sourcing strategy by applying key Commercial processes (e.g. Mars Strategic Sourcing Methodology, responsible sourcing, material quality management, supplier performance relationship management, etc.). The role manages global and regional initiatives through supplier relationship management and ensures the business is protected and risk is properly managed. The role will lead the Sustainable Packaging agenda at External manufacturing and Co Packing as well as Resilience ensuring business continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing Strategic Development & Execution:

  • Create, deliver, and execute the sourcing strategy for the External Manufacturing category (external manufacturing & co-packing) across Asia.
  • Drive "Best in Class" category leadership and implement tools such as sourcing strategies, cost model analysis, e-auctions, and RFPs to deliver maximum value to the category.
  • Lead Resilience strategy and roadmap for External manufacturing ensuring minimal business disruption.
  • Develops and executes sourcing strategies using the MSSM framework and the appropriate tools for the market category (routine, leverage, bottleneck, critical).
  • Develops and monitors the price risk management strategies.
  • Applies a wide range of sourcing tools (e.g., negotiation, e-procurement, strategic collaboration, etc.) to select and allocate business to suppliers.

Maximize value for money:

  • Deliver finance excellence through cash initiatives such as payment terms and supplier owned inventory programs.
  • Obtain optimal terms by utilizing negotiation techniques when required to understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality to meet our performance criteria and secure long-term supply continuity.
  • Drive an effective relationship with key stakeholders to deliver competitive market advantages through superior analysis, strategy, judgement, and execution.
  • Identify and implement novel and creative means for reducing costs, improving quality, improving total value of money, including networking within the Mars Global community for best practices and ideas for reapplication.
  • Collaborates with the stakeholders (Commercial, R&D, Finance, Supply, and CBU) to drive portfolio optimizations/ harmonization, develop long term category strategy and drives continuous cost improvement.

Protect Supply Chain:

  • Ensure supply chain security and develop contingency plans to secure the business and provide recommendations to execute as appropriate.
  • Builds sourcing category expertise to provide market and financial insights and inputs into the operating plan process.
  • Tracks, monitors, and drives key supplier performance indicators across cost, service and quality and puts corrective actions in place when needed.
  • Implement standard processes and tools to ensure responsible, continuous and sustainable sourcing.
  • Participates in global internal and external benchmarking and cost structure analysis management.

Leverage External Capability:

  • Leading Supplier relationship management through regular visits to supplier facilities to become the subject matter expert, which includes the manufacturing processes and all costs associated.
  • Leverage supply chain knowledge to create cost models and influence the future product roadmap and sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure delivery of business plans at or ahead of targets and plans while providing appropriate Commercial representation in internal business processes.
  • Accountable for Sustainable packaging roadmap at External manufacturing, through working both internally with R&D/Sustainability Teams and externally with Suppliers.

Job Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7-10 years of Commercial/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience preferably in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
  • Sourcing/Supply chain/Ex-man and co packing knowledge and understanding is required.
  • Fluent in English and any other local languages.
