In your new role you will:
- Merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues, customers or the wider organization if requested.
- Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results.
- Use all available tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems.
- Perform regular horizon scan to stay up to date with latest and emerging technologies, techniques and methods.
- Look for opportunities to use insights/datasets/code/models across other functions in the whole organization to improve existing audit solutions.
- Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes if possible.
You are best equipped for this task if you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field (e.g. Business Administration with a focus on IT).
- Extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis.
- More than 5 years’ practical experience with database programming and data analytics .
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
- Good scripting and programming skills (SQL, ACL or Python)
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk assessment, audit methodology, and audit execution.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilledMachine Learning Engineer to join our team in Malaysia. This role is crucial in developing, deploying, and maintaining the core AI models that power our innovative legal platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Model Development and Implementation: Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and algorithms tailored for legal applications, including Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks such as text summarization, contract analysis, and legal document generation.
- Data Preparation and Feature Engineering: Collaborate with data scientists and legal experts to preprocess, clean, and analyze large legal datasets, ensuring data quality and relevance for model training.
- Model Optimization and Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of machine learning models, fine-tune hyperparameters, and implement strategies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Infrastructure and Deployment: Work closely with software engineers to integrate ML models into production systems, managing and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for scalable and reliable AI solutions.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning and AI, applying innovative techniques to enhance existing products and develop new functionalities within the legal tech domain.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
- Familiarity with NLP techniques and tools (e.g., spaCy, NLTK) is highly desirable, given NEXLAW.AI’s focus on legal text analysis.
- Experience with version control systems (Git).
- Cloud and MLOps (Bonus): Experience with cloud platforms such asAWS andGCP , including knowledge ofVertex AI , is a significant advantage.
- Analytical Skills: Solid mathematical and statistical foundation, including knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, and probability.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into actionable machine learning solutions.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
