We are looking for Portfolio Manager (Equity).
Position Overview
Portfolio manager responsible for the management of discretionary portfolio mandates (DPM) including discretionary fund portfolios (DFP), Malaysian and global equity mandates. This role requires a candidate with at least 10 years of experience in portfolio management, strong analytical/problem solving skills and a good understanding of investment strategies and investment/portfolio risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing client portfolios/funds under the guidance of strategic views from the CIO Office and Investment procedures.
- Evaluating the risks and opportunities of investment portfolios, including monitoring holdings to help identify buy/sell candidates based on relative value comparison.
- Track and monitor daily spreads/prices for all portfolio/fund positions.
- Understand clients’ needs and craft solutions according to clients’ risk appetite and preferences, through different asset classes including fixed income and equities.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on investment opportunities and prepare investment reports for decision-making purposes.
- Familiarity with ESG strategies and ESG process integration in investment management processes.
- Relative value analysis of potential investments versus alternative investment options - both within and across asset classes.
- Conduct client consultation and portfolio performance review process.
- Write commentary and provide market updates, for internal and external clients.
- To assist fellow Portfolio Managers with reporting and other duties as necessary to meet client requirements.
- Provide administrative and system support in relation to the investment process as and when required.
- Collaborate with the Portfolio Product Management team and/or external service providers in product development and product range expansion.
Work Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in fund/portfolio management with preference for a track record in Malaysian fixed income/fund of funds investments.
- Strong understanding in financial projections and asset valuations.
- Familiarity with portfolio management tools an advantage.
- A strong risk mindset to ensure adherence to the Company’s, Group’s and Regulators’ requirements.
- Self-motivation, strong time management skills, ability to work effectively under pressure.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, investment or a related field
- CFA qualification is appreciated.

Key Responsibilities
- Ability to manage both local currency and hard currency Sukuk and Fixed Income portfolios across multiple return requirements such as ROI and TWRR. Overseeing portfolio risk and liquidity requirements including managing inflows and outflows, new issue recommendations and undertake relative value idea generation with ultimate aim to outperform stated benchmarks / client targets.
- Maintain good working relationship with external counterparts including counterparty banks, sellside, rating agencies and Trustee for the beneft of the team and portfolios. This role will be the focal point of contact between internal and external counterparts and the Global Sukuk Team thus the candidate will have to be effective in managing communication with key stakeholders.
- Undertake administrative and ad-hoc tasks driven by portfolio requirements such as dealing and execution of trades, compliance and performance reporting as well as business development requirements such as updating of marketing pitch book, responding to client queries and attending to RFP/RFI requests.
- Value adding contributor to the Emerging Markets Fixed Income Team. The candidate will be required to adapt and contribute ideas to the global EMFI Investment Team which may include ideas within the local currency and hard currency investable universe.

Education/ Professional Qualification

About the Role
Management of fixed income portfolios of both insurance funds and investment linked funds in accordance to the stated investment objectives which include – outperformance against the benchmarks, peer ranking (for investment linked funds) and meeting investment income target.1. PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
- Support Director, Fixed Income in formulating overall investment strategy to achieve the investment objectives of the respective portfolios.

2. ASSET-LIABILITY MANAGEMENT (ALM)
- Support Director, Fixed Income in Asset-Liability Management related matters
3. REPORTING CYCLE
- Fixed income reporting to senior management and marketing agents.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of fixed income related reporting.
4. OTHERS
• Ad-hoc investment project as and when required.
- Support Director, Fixed Income in derivatives-related matter to ensure the Company’s investment hedging activities are performed in accordance with BNM regulations/ internal guidelines.
5. COMPLIANCE
• Ensure compliance with investment parameters and requirements from both internal and regulatory.
• Ensure adherence to operating guidelines, processes and procedures.
• Any breach shall be reported with explanation leading to the breach and action to rectify.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Education –Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance/Actuarial/Business Administration
CFA chartered holder is preferred.

About the Role Management of fixed income portfolios of both insurance funds and investment linked funds in accordance to the stated investment objectives which include – outperformance against the benchmarks, peer ranking (for investment linked funds) and meeting investment income target. 1. PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT Support Director, Fixed Income in formulating overall investment strategy to achieve the investment objectives of the respective portfolios. Responsible for portfolio management of fixed income insurance portfolios and investment linked funds in accordance with investment mandate to deliver performance against the benchmark, peer ranking and investment income. Formulation of leading indicators as well as market strategy in order to active investment objective. Generate ideas on new opportunities for fixed income assets for diversification and/or yield enhancement. Network/engage with counterparties in the industry to gain access to market trends and investment opportunities. Drive and enhance investment processes, lead discussion with external managers. Dealing with other teams/departments/divisions to ensure all the necessary agreements, facilities, approvals are in place for facilitating the investment of new fixed income asset classes. 2. ASSET-LIABILITY MANAGEMENT (ALM) Support Director, Fixed Income in Asset-Liability Management related matters 3. REPORTING CYCLE Fixed income reporting to senior management and marketing agents. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of fixed income related reporting. 4. OTHERS • Ad-hoc investment project as and when required. Support Director, Fixed Income in derivatives-related matter to ensure the Company’s investment hedging activities are performed in accordance with BNM regulations/ internal guidelines. 5. COMPLIANCE • Ensure compliance with investment parameters and requirements from both internal and regulatory. • Ensure adherence to operating guidelines, processes and procedures. • Any breach shall be reported with explanation leading to the breach and action to rectify. • Ensure audit trail is available for compliance and audit check. • Ensure appropriate approval is being sought prior to execution. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Education –
Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance/Actuarial/Business Administration CFA chartered holder is preferred. 2. Experience –
