Job Overview:
The Piping Stress Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Piping discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Piping discipline. The Piping Stress Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Piping Stress Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Piping team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.
Performs engineering task related to design engineering, analysis, and calculations, applying the content and application of McDermott and industry standards, codes, and guidelines.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Read and understand the project contract including scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements
Achieve basic knowledge of MDR's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions
Become familiar with P&IDs, Line List, Equipment Layouts, Piping Specifications and Design Basis
Prepare the Piping Stress Critical Line List and required Engineered Pipe Support datasheets
Prepare the Flexibility Analysis, Wind/Seismic and Pipe Support Fabrication specification
Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Queries, Technical Bid Evaluations and Purchase Requisitions of Piping Engineered items including Special Engineered and Standard Pipe Supports, as well as expansion joints where applicable
Perform stress analysis on critical piping systems using comprehensive and manual methods on identified complex piping systems
Keep the Piping Project Leadership apprised of all activities, progress and concerns
Be aware of costs relation to own work
Recognize changes to scope and notify the Discipline Lead Engineer
Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager
Assist procurement personnel in procuring discipline equipment, materials and services. Procurement assistance includes preparing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead Engineer
Check engineering performed by others within Discipline

Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor's Degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail design
Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society
Flexible for Business Travelling

Detailed knowledge of Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design Phases of Projects
Detailed knowledge and experience of design techniques and application of standards, codes, and guidelines
Familiar with all Piping Sub-Disciplines including Design and Modelling, Pipe Stress & Support, Piping Material Engineering, and MTO activities and deliverables
Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills

+ Direct Engineering team as a Lead Engineer on small projects

Performs engineering task related to design engineering, analysis, and calculations, applying the content and application of McDermott and industry standards, codes, and guidelines.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Read and understand the project contract including scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements. Achieve basic knowledge of MDR's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions. Become familiar with P&IDs, Line List, Equipment Layouts, Piping Specifications and Design Basis. Prepare the Piping Stress Critical Line List and required Engineered Pipe Support datasheets. Prepare the Flexibility Analysis, Wind/Seismic and Pipe Support Fabrication specification. Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Queries, Technical Bid Evaluations and Purchase Requisitions of Piping Engineered items including Special Engineered and Standard Pipe Supports, as well as expansion joints where applicable. Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor's Degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail design Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society Flexible for Business Travelling Committed to McDermott values Detailed knowledge of Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design Phases of Projects Detailed knowledge and experience of design techniques and application of standards, codes, and guidelines Familiar with all Piping Sub-Disciplines including Design and Modelling, Pipe Stress & Support, Piping Material Engineering, and MTO activities and deliverables Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills Conversant with international codes and standards like ANSI, ASME, API, BS, NFPA, etc. Familiar with SP3D / E3D / Navisworks Familiar with stick-built and modularization approach

About the mission we offer you:
- He/She shall report directly to Piping & Material Head of Department and Piping Design Section Focal Point.
- He/She is responsible for the Project Team for all tasks performed by the Piping Project Team relating to the project scope of work.
- He/She is the focal point of contact and coordination within the Project Team. He shall assist the Project Manager, Engineering Manager and Project Engineer to furnish them with the latest Piping Progress and Input.
- He/She assumes the technical responsibility of all piping design and piping support activities for his project.
- In the case of Stress, Material Handling, HFE and Material engineering activities, Lead Engineers shall take responsibility for their technical aspects and liaise with the Piping Lead Engineer for scope and schedule related activities and coordination with Project Team and Client.
Main Accountabilities
BUDGET, PLANNING & SCHEDULE
- Develop Piping Manpower & Man hour Planning with Deliverable List in coordination with Planning and Piping & Material Head of Department at the early stage of the Project.
- Review Project Level 2 and 3 schedules and provide feedback if requested.
- Prepare and identify Project Progress Milestones based on the Schedules.
- Perform Periodic Piping Progress Measurement.
- Endorse the timesheets and request for leave of his piping team (Optional).
- Review Project Contract to summarize all Piping Deliverables.
- Manage E-ICR system for design changes.
WORK EXECUTION
- Review Project scope documents and ensure access and reference for his piping team.
- Prepare and review Job Specifications, Piping Standards, Design Instruction, and relevant documents.
- Issue Work Instructions for the project. Distribute to team members.
- Develop checklist for gate review for the Ident Code readiness.
- Share piping milestone targets with the project team.
- Ensure readiness of 3D model for review sessions.
- Develop Piping Isometrics Checking & IFC Issue Schedule and establish Weekly Progress Tracking.
- Review all Vendor Data in Piping Scope.
- Ensure Project Document Distribution Matrix is relevant. Develop a Plot Plan with Area/Unit/Module Leads.
- Conduct Progress Meetings regularly.
- Prepare Progress Reports for the Project Team.
- Attend Coordination and Client Review Meetings as required.
- Coordinate with Sub-Contracting Department for Piping MTO and Job Specification for fabrication and construction.
- Prepare Scope Change Requests and issue for approval.
- Review and approve all documents and drawings issued by Design and Pipe Support Groups.
- Verify 3D modelling database inherited from the client.
QUALITY AND HSE
- Issue Piping Discipline PQP if required and maintain work quality.
- Distribute correspondence within piping team.
- Participate in 3D Model Reviews and internal piping audits.
ARCHIVING & CLOSE-OUT REPORT
- Archive project documents post-completion, preferably digitally.
- Compile project statistics related to piping progress and deliverables.
- Prepare project close-out report.

About you:
- Recognized Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- At least 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas/Petrochemical/Offshore/Floaters as Lead Piping Engineer.
- Experience in DFS/FEED/Detailed Design & EPC projects.
- Ability to make independent decisions and represent the discipline on projects.
- Knowledge of 2-D and 3-D CAD tools, piping codes and standards.
- Strong in project management, team leadership, vendor management & cost saving.
- Fluent in English.
- Organized, methodical, detail-oriented, proactive, and a good team player.
- Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in E3D and S3D.
- Knowledge of programming languages like Macro.
- Professional Engineer certification.
