Job Summary: To assist the physician and patient in all professional and clinical procedures. Responsible for laboratory procedures including quality control, x-ray procedures (where applicable), and patient care duties. Assists in periodic clerical and receptionist duties as may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following; other duties may be assigned.

1. Prepares patients to be activities as directed by the provider.
2. Completes all lab tests as requested per policy and procedure.
3. Does patient teaching under the direction of the provider, both in the office and by phone.
4. Responds to phone inquiries and informs patients of reports as indicated.
5. Knowledgeably administers medicine to patients as directed by the provider.
6. Prepares, carries out, and/or instructs patient and/or responsible party for examination, tests, and procedures.
7. Prepares necessary paperwork involving tests, charges, and documentation of pertinent data in patient charts.
8. Calls in prescriptions as directed by the provider.
9. Maintains all quality controls and records as per procedure.
10. Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area.
11. Maintains adequate supply levels and controls inventory.
12. Maintains strict confidentiality related to patient information.
13. Maintains a professional appearance and attitude.
14. Supports policies, procedures, and administrative decisions within the clinic.

Requirements:

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CMA or EMT preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.

• Wash, maintain and store all dialysis equipment safely.
• Ensure that all supplies, equipment are available for use at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment within the dialysis centre.
• Participate as a member of the team in carrying out haemodialysis procedures.
• Able to perform needling of A-V fistulas, A-V graft for initiating haemodialysis process.
• Responsible that all dialysis equipment is safe, complete and fully operational before, during and after each use. Include cleaning dialysis machine surface, work table and dialysis chair with appropriate disinfectant after each use.
• Responsible to monitor and record patient’s vital signs during treatment and report any abnormality to staff f in charge.
• Assist other staffs and doctors during treatment and examination of patients on treatment.

Clerical/Administrative Support

• Attend to incoming calls, retrieve, search, update system, and ensure Medical Records are provided in a timely manner.
• Ensure Medical Records are not missing or misplaced; raise an “Incident” report if necessary.
• Perform clerical duties in maintaining patients’ medical records, including filing, sorting, and processing.
• Update HIS information and biodata, including merging records.
• Compile data into medical records and ensure they are in order before filing at the designated storage area.
• Understand colour coding and merge folders appropriately.

• Conduct thinning, archiving, and destruction processes to reduce inactive Medical Records.
