Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical knowledge and skills relating to oncology nursing to provide clinical and professional guidance to the multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrate ability to function in complex clinical situations while providing support and direction to registered nurses.
• Perform and assist the specialist in haematology procedures including bone marrow biopsy and aspiration, intrathecal therapy, and apheresis.
• Ensure comprehensive health assessment of patients.
• Ensure documentation is aligned with current legislation requirements.
• Ensure continuity of a high standard of evidence-based nursing care for patients and their families.
• Safe handling and administration of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments to patients.
• Educate and support patient/family throughout continuum of care.
• Perform phlebotomy, cannulation and insertion of venous access devices.
• Medication counselling.
• Ensure good communication with peers, patients and those referring in to the service.
• Work closely with the managers and organisation to ensure the provision of safe and efficient services.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Degree in Nursing or equivalent
• Possess a valid APC
• Post-basic in Oncology Nursing will be desirable
• Minimum of four (4) years of working experience in oncology care is required
• Good communication skills

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Team Leader role in ensuring pharmacy personnels understand and abide by all standard operating procedures.
• Reviews and checks IV and oral drug prescriptions for accuracy, drug interactions and incompatibilities.
• Performs drug reconciliation or drug order review for all prescription orders.
• Dispenses take-home medications to the patients, ensuring accuracy of the medications and doses.
• To counsel and advise patients on their medication regimens.
• Sourcing and purchasing cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic drugs according to pre-approved par level.
• Maintaining accuracy and managing of stock inventory in the Pharmacy.
• Provides information to medical and other staff members about drugs, their various dosage forms and packaging.
• Arranging import permits for unregistered drugs for the patient.
• Performs and ensuring accurate charging of pharmaceutical drugs and medical supplies to patients.
• Reporting in pharmacy meetings regarding all pharmacy matters.
• Contribute to the overall quality improvement programs of the cancer centre.

Requirements:

• Must possess at least a Degree in Pharmacy and registered with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.
• Possesses at least 2 years of working experience as a fully registered pharmacist in a similar capacity in a hospital.
• Pleasant and friendly personality, good telephone etiquette, has customer-oriented attributes and high level of initiatives.
• Able to multi-task and stay focused on every task, particularly during preparation of medication.
• Able to work well in a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
