Security Engineer

X-FAB is seeking a Security Engineer to safeguard our global IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for protecting X-FAB's digital assets by implementing robust defenses against cyber threats. Security Engineer

X-FAB is seeking a Security Engineer to safeguard our global IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for protecting X-FAB's digital assets by implementing robust defenses against cyber threats. This includes conducting vulnerability assessments, developing countermeasures, and ensuring compliance with IT security standards. You will also play a key role in enhancing security awareness through employee training and advising management on strategic security investments. As a member of the Global IT Security Team, you will collaborate with other Security Engineers to ensure adherence to X-FAB's IT security standards and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field.
• Candidates with at least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field are added advantage for this position.
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of information security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, PCI DSS).
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining IT security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment and management methodologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks.

• Understanding complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment.
• Maintaining all the software and hardware appliances in relation to security.
• Identifying current and emerging technology issues including security trends, vulnerabilities, and threats.
• Sourcing and implementing new security solutions to better protect the organization.
• Conducting proactive research to analyze security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies.
• Develop best practices and security standards for the organization.
• Maintain systems plus controls to protect unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, and deletion of information through resources and computer networks.
• Research opportunities to improve information security standards and identify best practices.
• Designs and implements procedures and controls necessary to protect information systems and data.
• Provides guidance and direction both within information security and among users for the physical protection of information system assets, organization information, and customer data.
• Enhanced systems by implementing and maintaining information security controls.
• Conduct routine security risk analysis, evaluate business needs against collision, vulnerabilities and search resulting risks.
• Assist fellow employees with IT security needs.
• Perform regular security audits using tools and provide reports.
• Liaising with vendors to implement security solutions.
• Providing out-of-hours support coverage when scheduled to the support region.
• Documentation.

Skills

• Good knowledge of technical & administrative skills in various operating systems, including Microsoft Windows & Linux.
• Extensive knowledge of operating system and database security.
• Good knowledge of IT Security Design Architecture, OSI model, TCP/IP model, Network Security and Protocols.
• Good knowledge and experience with security infrastructure (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Anti-Malware, DRM, DLP, vulnerability scanners, etc.).
• Good knowledge and familiarity of IT networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, Switches, Routers, RADIUS/TACACS+, etc.).
• Able to develop security concepts, and participation in the definition of secure IT architectures and IT solutions.
• An analytical mind with excellent problem-solving ability.
• Outstanding decision-making, communication, and organization skills.

Requirements

• Positive and professional working attitude, ability to work under minimum supervision.

• Familiar with functionalities of IP networks & routing protocol, BGP, OSPF, DNS, AD, Proxy, etc.
• Ability to work independently but still a team player.
• Territory Qualification preferred but not mandatory
• Knowledge / Experience in Firewall, Proxy, Anti-spam, VMware, Load Balancer would be an advantage.
• Those without can be considered for a junior position

1. Implementation and operation of campus network security solutions globally for the production environment.
2. Assess and prioritize security risks in OT environments and design appropriate security controls, such as segmentation, access control, and monitoring.

Your Qualifications

4. Initiative, willingness to learn and customer orientation as well as experience in change processes.
5. Knowledge of network equipment monitoring (SNMP, Rest API, dedicated tools: e.g. Nagios, CheckMK).
6. Palo Alto Networks Certified, or Fortinet Network Security Expert.
7. Industry-recognized network & security certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP).
8. Familiarity with Ansible or any other configuration management tool.
9. Familiarity with Jinja, TCL, Python and bash scripting.
10. Experience with REST API requests.

This is a critical role and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineer with high energy to join the existing team. This is a great development and career opportunity for someone who wants to progress in to an Engineering Leadership role.

You will be the technical lead for SMART Factory aspirations including Automation, Operational Technology (OT) systems and Level 3 process control leadership.

What You'll Do

Promoting a safe and healthy work environment including leading by example in the development of and adherence to safe systems of work. Process Control leadership to ensure automated systems meet the technical and quality requirements. Development and continuous improvement of OT systems and equipment in line with site master plan. Troubleshooting and maintenance of automation equipment, L3 systems, data loggers and other OT systems. Deliver Engineering to a high Industrial standard with a focus of safety in design. Provides mentoring of Instrumentation technicians to ensure a system is in place for inspection, calibration and repair of all instrumentation devices including transmitter, transducer, control valve etc. within the area of responsibilities. Ensure all software and hardware of PLC, DCS, VSD and PC are available and that an effective maintenance strategy is in place.

What You Need To Succeed

Degree in Computer Engineering or related discipline. At least 2 years of experience in Project Engineering of Automation systems, instrumentation and control. Experience in heavy industry or complex manufacturing environment is an added advantage. Strong technical knowledge of heavy industrial control equipment; PLC or DCS, Closed Loop Control and Instrumentation Understands safety rated automation and hardware requirements, ensures systems are in place to maintain safety ratings Has experience of implementing quality management systems and enforcing safety and environmental regulations. Able to initiate, propose and execute continuous improvement and development initiatives in OT systems to support Digitalization efforts.

Assess and prioritize security risks in OT environments and design appropriate security controls, such as segmentation, access control, and monitoring. Proven knowledge of network technologies and network segmentation (e.g. security zones, network access control). At least 2 years of experience with enterprise-grade leading networks. Practical knowledge of market-leading network security vendors and Cisco (routers, switches). Initiative, willingness to learn and customer orientation as well as experience in change processes. Knowledge of network equipment monitoring (SNMP, Rest API, dedicated tools: e.g. Nagios, CheckMK). Palo Alto Networks Certified, or Fortinet Network Security Expert. Industry-recognized network & security certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP). Familiarity with Ansible or any other configuration management tool. Familiarity with Jinja, TCL, Python and bash scripting. Job Title: Network Security Analyst

We are looking for a Network Security Analyst to join our team in Cyberjaya.

As a Network Security Analyst, you will be involved in following work instruction-based processes to deliver first-level support for network-related requests and issues. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with customer service level agreements and serving as the primary point of contact for escalated requests and issues.

Your core objective is to restore service for the customer as quickly as possible and, where further escalation is required, to provide a single point of contact and ownership.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure all policies, procedures, and work instructions are followed in the interests of customer satisfaction and contractual obligations in a 24x7 environment.
2. Provide consultancy to business clients regarding the availability and functionality of services.
3. Enforce and review MS processes to ensure documentation is current and to escalate issues to management for MS staff.
4. Acknowledge and qualify NMS alerts and open causes with appropriate priority levels.
5. Diagnose problems and provide solutions to achieve service restoration.
6. Provide first and second level technical support for customer fault escalations.
7. Escalate cases to internal teams, management, and third-party vendors as required.
8. Perform remote diagnostic troubleshooting and checks for customer incidents.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in a NOC or Data Centre support environment.
• Bachelor's degree in IT or an equivalent professional degree.
• Industry certifications such as NSE, CCNA, or Aruba are preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office packages.
• General understanding of LAN/WAN/Voice/Security/Server technologies.
• Ability to work on 12-hour rotational shifts, including weekends.
