YOUR ROLE AS A Group Head, Network Planning, Scheduling & Charters
The Group Head of Network Planning, Scheduling & Charters is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing AirAsia’s short- and long-term flight network strategy across all airline entities in the Group. This role requires a commercially driven, analytically strong, and operationally grounded leader who can manage a cross-functional team overseeing network design, schedule planning, slot portfolio management, and charter operations. The ideal candidate will lead strategic planning and tactical execution to maximise revenue, optimize aircraft utilization, and ensure operational feasibility across the Group’s widebody and narrowbody fleets.
What you’ll champion:
Network Planning & Route Development: Develop and execute short-term network plans aligned with the Group’s commercial and operational strategy. Identify and evaluate new route opportunities, supported by robust market analysis, financial viability assessments, and scenario modelling. Monitor and refine network performance against KPIs (e.g., RASK, CASK, LF), driving corrective action for underperforming routes. Partner with Revenue Management to recommend route adjustments, frequency changes, and aircraft deployment strategies.
Scheduling (Short-Term & Long-Term): Lead the development and distribution of daily aircraft routings and seasonal schedules for both widebody and narrowbody fleets.
Operational Feasibility & Integration: Ensure all schedules are operationally feasible, aligned with OCC, Engineering, and Airport Operations constraints. Integrate schedules with commercial strategies to maximize revenue from demand peaks, holidays, and events.
Annual Budget & Capacity Planning: Translate commercial goals into a viable flight schedule in partnership with Finance and Revenue teams. Lead schedule development for the annual budget cycle, ensuring capacity targets and route profitability. Refine capacity plans based on macroeconomic and market conditions.
Slots & Inventory Management: Oversee slot strategy, filings, and compliance across all slot-coordinated airports. Manage the global slot portfolio to safeguard airport access and optimize runway timings. Lead schedule transition into live operations via Schedule Manager (New Skies), coordinating with Preflight and OCC.
Charter Operations & Special Projects: Lead development, evaluation, and execution of charter services and special event flying. Ensure operational alignment and profitability of ad-hoc and long-term charter contracts.
Revenue Optimization: Align schedules with demand profiles, market seasonality, and special events to maximize load factors and yield. Collaborate with Commercial, Marketing, and Revenue teams to respond to market trends.

WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:
- Accountable to identify, evaluate and develop new flying opportunities. Assess various route performance factors such as current demand, growth trend, market fare, competitive landscape, cost structure and commercial strength and provide management with thoroughly researched business cases supported by P&L forecasts on route and fleet decisions.
- Review route network performance in order to detect profitability gaps and provide data-driven suggestions to influence various stakeholders from Revenue Management, Scheduling, Sales and/or Operations toward corrective actions.
- Keep abreast of changing market dynamics from both the demand and supply perspectives, including ethnic connections, labour movements, tourism trends and geopolitical swings, competitor movement, network updates, frequency changes, and gauge adjustments.
- Prepare and represent AirAsia Group Network Planning participation in both internal and external stakeholder engagements. WHO YOU ARE:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in aviation related fields, engineering, statistics, economics, or other equivalent qualification.
- Airline / Aviation experience: 5+ years.
- Network Planning, Revenue Management, Commercial/Sales: 2+ years.
- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to strategic initiatives in consulting, network strategy, or commercial analytics, ideally in aviation or a complex operations-driven environment.

Job Description:
YOUR ROLE AS A Group Head, Network Planning, Scheduling & Charters The Group Head of Network Planning, Scheduling & Charters is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing AirAsia’s short- and long-term flight network strategy across all airline entities in the Group. This role requires a commercially driven, analytically strong, and operationally grounded leader who can manage a cross-functional team overseeing network design, schedule planning, slot portfolio management, and charter operations. The ideal candidate will lead strategic planning and tactical execution to maximise revenue, optimize aircraft utilization, and ensure operational feasibility across the Group’s widebody and narrowbody fleets. What you’ll champion: Network Planning & Route Development:
Develop and execute short-term network plans aligned with the Group’s commercial and operational strategy. Identify and evaluate new route opportunities, supported by robust market analysis, financial viability assessments, and scenario modelling. Monitor and refine network performance against KPIs (e.g., RASK, CASK, LF), driving corrective action for underperforming routes. Partner with Revenue Management to recommend route adjustments, frequency changes, and aircraft deployment strategies.
Scheduling (Short-Term & Long-Term):
Lead the development and distribution of daily aircraft routings and seasonal schedules for both widebody and narrowbody fleets.
Operational Feasibility & Integration:
Ensure all schedules are operationally feasible, aligned with OCC, Engineering, and Airport Operations constraints. Integrate schedules with commercial strategies to maximize revenue from demand peaks, holidays, and events.
Annual Budget & Capacity Planning:
Translate commercial goals into a viable flight schedule in partnership with Finance and Revenue teams. Lead schedule development for the annual budget cycle, ensuring capacity targets and route profitability. Refine capacity plans based on macroeconomic and market conditions.
Slots & Inventory Management:
Oversee slot strategy, filings, and compliance across all slot-coordinated airports. Manage the global slot portfolio to safeguard airport access and optimize runway timings. Lead schedule transition into live operations via Schedule Manager (New Skies), coordinating with Preflight and OCC.
Charter Operations & Special Projects:
Lead development, evaluation, and execution of charter services and special event flying. Ensure operational alignment and profitability of ad-hoc and long-term charter contracts.
Revenue Optimization:
Align schedules with demand profiles, market seasonality, and special events to maximize load factors and yield. Collaborate with Commercial, Marketing, and Revenue teams to respond to market trends.
Operational Alignment & Excellence:
Partner with OCC, Engineering, and Airports to ensure aircraft availability, turnarounds, and crew routing align with schedules. Support contingency planning during disruptions.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent Network Planning in internal reviews and external forums. Foster collaboration with Commercial, Operations, Government Relations, Airport Partnerships, Engineering, and Fleet teams.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and develop a high-performing team across Scheduling, Network Planning, Slots, and Charters. Promote a data-driven, commercially focused, and operational culture. Develop succession plans and align with talent strategies.
Who you are:
Minimum 10 years’ experience in network planning, scheduling, or route development in a commercial airline environment.
Proven success managing regional or group-level network functions in a multi-hub airline.
In-depth understanding of slot regulations, aircraft operational limitations, revenue optimization, and aviation regulatory frameworks.
Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with experience in route evaluation tools and budget management.
Leadership experience in cross-functional environments with stakeholder management skills.
Experience managing scheduled and charter flying preferred.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field.
MBA or Master’s Degree is an advantage.

YOUR ROLE AS A SENIOR EXECUTIVE, NETWORK PLANNING:
- Accountable for identifying, evaluating, and developing new flying opportunities. Assess route performance factors such as demand, growth trends, market fare, competition, costs, and commercial strength. Provide management with researched business cases supported by P&L forecasts for route and fleet decisions.
- Review route network performance to detect profitability gaps and suggest data-driven solutions to stakeholders across Revenue Management, Scheduling, Sales, and Operations for corrective actions.
- Stay updated on market dynamics including ethnic connections, labor movements, tourism trends, geopolitical changes, competitor actions, network updates, frequency changes, and gauge adjustments.
- Represent AirAsia Group Network Planning in internal and external stakeholder engagements, including weekly updates, monthly CEO reviews, annual budgets, vendor management, conferences, market visits, and airport collaborations.
- Manage Network Planning data and information, ensuring correct and timely dissemination of files such as the Group Route Rollout and Frequency Table, and respond to ad-hoc requests from stakeholders.
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation, engineering, statistics, economics, or related fields.
- 2+ years of experience in Airline/Aviation, Network Planning, Revenue Management, or Commercial/Sales.
- Management consulting experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of airline network planning, scheduling, revenue management, sales & distribution, and airline economics.
- Experience with network planning software and airline data sources like PaxIS/MIDT, OAG/Innovata, Infare, and AR.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and database tools like SQL, Big Query, or Tableau.
