Role Overview:
The Business Manager to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for APAC & Middle East at SoftwareOne plays a mission-critical role in enabling operational excellence, strategic alignment, and regional execution. This role is designed for a high-performing, organized, and commercially astute individual who can seamlessly navigate across business operations, regional strategy, and stakeholder coordination. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Act as the right-hand partner to the COO in planning, tracking, and executing strategic and operational priorities across the APAC & Middle East regions.

- Assist in the digitisation of Domestic Catalogue songs:-
- Liaising with Third-parties on pending assets copyrighted to SME
- Ingest, schedule, and fingerprint the Digital Products as per usual
- Have calls with the WNS team about GRPS, and all back-end operations-related issues.
- Assisting in updates the SOPs and checklists of Digital Ingestion for all departments to adhere to for smooth and timely delivery of all Products.

What you'll do:Industry Scouting & Artist Signings
- Actively scout and evaluate new and emerging artists, songwriters, and producers across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
- Lead artist signings, co-development deals, and production partnerships that align with Sony Music’s strategic objectives.
- Build a sustainable artist pipeline through consistent engagement with managers, producers, and talent networks.
- Monitor platforms, live events, and online trends to stay ahead of the curve on emerging music movements.
- Identify and develop upstreaming or joint venture opportunities with independent labels, collectives, and creative entrepreneurs.
- Lead deal negotiations with internal legal and business affairs teams to secure equitable and growth-oriented partnerships.
- Act as a key liaison with external stakeholders and strategic partners to enhance Sony Music Malaysia’s creative ecosystem
Music Development & A&R Oversight
- Identify hit-worthy songs, sonic trends, and top-tier producers for project development.
- Oversee the creative process from demo to recording to ensure commercial readiness and artistic integrity.
- Coordinate with local and regional A&R collaborators to build strong artist-brand alignment and musical output.
Cross-Functional Execution & Strategy
- Collaborate with marketing, digital, promotions, and business affairs teams to ensure successful artist launches and campaigns.
- Leverage data and audience insights to inform scouting and development decisions.
- Serve as a strategic advocate for artists and partners within Sony Music Malaysia.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in A&R, music scouting, artist management, or label partnerships within Malaysia or the Southeast Asian region.
- Proven ability to discover and sign talent with strong market potential.
- A deep understanding of music production and recording, with a strong instinct for hit potential.
- Well-connected across the Malaysian music landscape—artists, producers, indie labels, content creators, and cultural tastemakers.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Malay language fluency preferred.

The Digital Operations Executive is responsible for digital supply chain for Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia and is the final line of quality control for all assets ingested and uploaded to all DSP and Partner platforms as well as in all available sales channels. This role works very closely with all departments, but especially with A&R, to ensure that all releases are uploaded per scheduled release dates. What you'll do:
Handles the Digital Supply Chain of Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia, which covers all activities from product registration, ingestion, working with all local Partners / Distributors / JV Partners, etc. Delivers weekly Digital Products (audio and video) to Digital Service Providers (DSPs) Assist in the digitisation of Domestic Catalogue songs:-
Liaising with Third-parties on pending assets copyrighted to SME Ingest, schedule, and fingerprint the Digital Products as per usual
Have calls with the WNS team about GRPS, and all back-end operations-related issues. Assisting in updates the SOPs and checklists of Digital Ingestion for all departments to adhere to for smooth and timely delivery of all Products.
Compiling and converting assets into a downloadable link for each DSP Creating a watermarked audio for our DSPs review of our upcoming releases
Pitch local tracks through the MCN Channel & Loudspeaker, catalog specific. Onboard the artists onto their VEVO channel, Apple Music, and Spotify Artist Page and green list their account and YouTube OAC & VEVO Merge requests when needed, catalog specific. Health check on optimization and digitization of catalogue assets. In charge of adding video descriptions, submitting requests to add merch cards, closed captions, and end screens, and submitting requests for YouTube video countdown/watch page activation. Ensures SMEMY’s YouTube Channel & playlist and Apple Music playlists are updated, catalog specific.(FILTR Playlist) Assists the team in solving operations issues when required (for example, DSP mapping issue, YouTube video/ Social Postings blockage issue, etc.) Who you are:
Bachelor’s degree in multi-media, music business, digital business, business management or any related field is preferred At least 2 years of work experience, data entry experience is beneficial. Good written and oral communication skills in both Malay and English, Mandarin is a plus. Must be able to adapt to changes readily, whether in job responsibilities or the work environment, which might include, but not limited to, working under pressure, and possibly long hours occasionally, and have the ability to be flexible in adapting to re-prioritized tasks.
