Permanent Overview: An exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer to contribute to a high-profile offshore energy project. Based in Kuala Lumpur, this role focuses on marine process systems and involves full lifecycle participation - from design and specification through construction, commissioning, and offshore handover. You'll be responsible for key process deliverables, vendor coordination, and interface management while also mentoring junior engineers and supporting site teams during execution. Key Responsibilities: Understand project-specific requirements and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, classification society rules, and regulatory obligations. Develop engineering design philosophies, process specifications, data sheets, and calculations. Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, and process documents including flare and blowdown reports, heat and material balances, control descriptions, line lists, and utility summaries. Evaluate technical bids from suppliers and provide process-related assessments in coordination with the lead engineer. Provide input to package engineering by reviewing supplier documentation and identifying technical compliance and gaps. Participate in stakeholder meetings and address interface issues between clients, vendors, subcontractors, and classification bodies. Support site teams during construction and commissioning, troubleshooting process-related issues and ensuring proper implementation. Take part in safety reviews and provide explanations of process systems, closing out observations and recommendations promptly. Capture lessons learned and contribute to project close-out activities including documentation in relevant management systems. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development. Candidate Profile: Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years of experience in process engineering within the oil and gas sector. Strong understanding of marine or offshore systems, ideally with FPSO project experience. Familiarity with international process standards and regulatory frameworks. Capable of independently producing high-quality process deliverables. Confident in technical discussions with suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proactive, organised, and team-oriented, with the ability to mentor junior team members.

The Senior Naval Architect uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Naval Architecture (Eng) discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Naval Architecture (Eng) discipline. The Senior Naval Architect solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, (Master’s Degree is preferred).
• Eight-fifteen (8-15) years of experience in Oil and Gas with a major contractor or consultant predominantly performing construction and installation design.
• Strong working knowledge in design techniques, analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards codes and guidelines as applicable for offshore construction.
• Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society.
• Additional skills (preferred, not mandatory) – Awareness of marine procedures such as:
  • Loadouts - skidded and trailered.
  • Lift, upend, floatover, tow, etc.
  • Good communication skills.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards
• Direct Engineering team when assigned as a Project Coordinator on projects
• Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations
• Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
• Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area

• Provide technical direction and review of Designers producing products related to Construction/Installation Support Engineering

• When assigned, assist procurement personnel in producing Discipline equipment, materials, and services; ensuring that work produced complies with customer objectives and procedures Procurement assistance includes preparing and reviewing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead Engineer
• Assist in updating weight report based on receipt of vendor information
• Check engineering performed by others within the Discipline
• Perform design verification through single-discipline check/inter-discipline check (IDC)
• Provide technical support to all fabrication queries, including identifying defect/rectification requirements
• Keep the Lead engineer apprised of all activities and concerns, technical, budgetary, and manpower related
• Assist in providing inputs for actual, planning, and forecasting progress reports including associated productivity
• Participate in internal, Customer, and third-party technical audits on engineering deliverables and vendor documents
• Assist Lead engineer with responses to Customer and other agencies (such as certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, etc.) on their review and approval
• Capture lessons learned and enter into MDR’s Lessons Learned system
• Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
• Guide less experienced engineers on MDR and Discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, design calculations, software, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, technical queries, etc.
• Be aware of costs related to own work and of the discipline
• Perform/review Naval Architecture Engineering designs, analysis, evaluations, calculations, and procedures related to all aspects of marine operations covering loadout, transportation, and installation

Job Overview:

The Associate Naval Architect will be supporting FEED/EPCIC projects with design and installation engineering/analysis activities related Floatover Engineering, Mooring Analysis, Jacket/topside loadout and offloading analysis, Dynamic Jacket Launch and upending analysis, Transportation analysis and any other Naval Architecture tasks in a junior level. Learns the content and application of relevant industry codes, standards, guidelines, design methods and analysis.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks related to Naval Architecture tasks for installation of offshore facilities including jackets and topsides
• Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring.
• Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.
• Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
• Tender engineering support with emphasis on document review, assist with the preparation of subcontractor documents, bid evaluation and vendor selection.
• Assist senior engineers with preparation of technical reports, design calculations, engineering analysis and interface with third parties including subcontractors and verification bodies.
• Required to attend and prepare for project progress meetings and departmental meetings.
• Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements.
• Prepare sketches of detail design to guide Designers and check drawings.
• Keep the Area Lead/ Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress and concerns.
• Develop an awareness of costs related to own work.
• Develop basic understanding of McDermott's business and customers it serves.
• Develop basic knowledge of McDermott's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication and marine functions.
• Develop advanced skills in use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Understand and apply standards and procedures.
  
  

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or Marine Engineering
• Entry Level position or less than 3 years’ experience related to Transportation and Installation Engineering for Offshore projects
• Exposure to analysis packages for Naval Analysis (Eg. MOSES)
• Excellent verbal and written communication
