To support the growth in Manufacturing, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer to work in Cochlear Malaysia. You will be responsible to maintain efficient and productive engineering support to the manufacturing /repair areas through implementation and management of day-to-day manufacturing/repair issues and process improvement. You will be also required to provide engineering support to Manufacturing and Repair cost saving activities in CMY and ensuring quality requirements are met.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Provide the first point of contact for Manufacturing & Repair on yield, quality and throughput issues.
- Provide solutions to identified Manufacturing & Repair problems
- Supporting NPI activities and helps ensure a smooth transition into production.
- Analyse and resolve complex Manufacturing, Quality and Compliance issues (e.g., CAPA, non-conformances, audit observations)
- Ensure NCR’s, CAPAs, Concessions and Change Notes are processed in a timely manner.
- Identify process solutions and create plans to coordinate activities and mentoring other engineers and technicians when required to progress plan.
- Ability to analyze the failures & challenges using proven method to identify the root cause and implement solution for yield & quality improvement.
- Liaise and collaborate with other departments (warehouse, supply, procurement, NPI) to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Review product, process and equipment designs, work instruction and safety to ensure the business needs are met without compromising the quality requirements.
Key Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in preferably in a highly regulated GMP manufacturing environment.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical or Manufacturing qualification
- Experience in working within a Quality Management system is highly desirable for this role.
- Experience in working within Production Management system (e.g. Oracle)
- Experience in Design of Experiment (DOE), develop protocols, perform process validations IQ/OQ/PQ is a MUST for this role.
- Experience in designing process flow and production line layouts is a MUST for this position.
- Experience in risk management (risk analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA) is highly desirable for this position.
- Experience in designing process flow and production line layouts.
- Exposure to a highly regulated environment working within a Quality Management Systems (QMS) framework – ISO exposure or good understanding of QMS is a MUST for this role.
- Knowledge in Change Management Process is highly desirable.
- Demonstrate strong Project Management skills especially in process improvement and cost saving projects are an added advantage.
- Proven competencies in problem solving, design, manufacturing / business process development and personal influence
- Good interpersonal skills and written communication in English
- Candidates from Medical Device manufacturing industry will have an added advantage.

Responsibilities
- Assist Production/Process Engineer / Supervisor in monitoring and supporting FA package submission.
- Prepare work instructions for new models, change processes, modification cases, and process improvements.
- Monitor new line and new machine setup (to oversee line process flow, output efficiency).
- Perform new process training (briefing on machine handling and functions, e.g., Stamping, Grinding machine setup).
- Ensure effective implementation of ISO 13485:2016 requirements.

Job Summary
- Responsible for 1st level failure analysis of reject tools or components from production line to identify process or supplier related issue for failures which are unable to be solve by Failure Analyzer.
- Responsible for monthly FOR (Fall Off Rate) data entry into FOR database for tracking of FOR and Internal Defect Cost (IDC).
- Prepare rework flow for any non-conformities detected at production line for sorting or rework activities.
- Responsible to follow up and track the status of rejected parts complained to supplier via Purchasing Quality engineer (PUQ).
- Responsible to coordinate measurement support activities for verification of part dimension in order to determine root cause of rejection found in the line.
- Update PVS system (Part Verification System) for setting up part number for barcode scanning activities to avoid missing or wrong items been shipped to customer.
- Support VSE in preparing and update In Process Checklist, Production Work Instruction (PWI), Production Quality Indication (PQI) and Quality Alert for daily production usage.
- Assist VSE in preparation of workstations layout, set up workstation and line release documents before Pre-Pilot run, Pilot Run and mass production.
- Support VSE to perform Machine and Process Capability Study to ensure machines and processes meet the capability requirement during new product introduction and mass production.
- Support VSE in coordination of PDP project sample build (Pre-Pilot and Pilot run) on material availability and jig and fixtures readiness.

Job Scope
- Prepare workstation layout, set up workstation and assist VSE/FPV in preparation of line release documents during pre-pilot run, pilot run and SOP.
- Support VSE/FPV in Machine and Process Capability Studies to ensure new machine and process meet the capability requirement during new product introduction.
- Support VSE in coordination of PDP project sample build (Pre-Pilot and Pilot run) on material availability and jig and fixtures readiness.
Operation Support
- Responsible for l51 level failure analysis of reject tools or components from production line to identify process or supplier related issue for failures which are unable to be solve by Failure Analyzer.
- Responsible to coordinate measurement support activities for verification of part dimension in order to determine root cause of rejection found in the line.
- Responsible to follow up and track the status of rejected parts complained to supplier via Purchasing Quality engineer (PUQ).
- Responsible for monthly FOR (Fall Off Rate) data entry into FOR database for tracking of FOR and Internal Defect Cost (IDC).
- Support VSE in preparing and update In Process Checklist, Production Work Instruction (PWI), Production Quality Indication (PQI) and Quality Alert for daily production usage.
- Prepare rework flow for any non-conformities detected at production line for sorting or rework activities.
- Update PVS system (Part Verification System) for setting up part number for barcode scanning activities to avoid missing or wrong items been shipped to customer.

- Good in technical report writing and include complete data analysis and action recommendation.
- Experience in new product introduction (NPI), manufacturing activities and documentation (eg: Work Instruction, Control Plan, Process FMEA, Machine and Process Capability Studies, Statistical Process Control - SPC, Time Study (VT), Line Balancing, Setup Plan) is required.
- Able to understand and interpret technical drawing.
- Hand on experience on failure analysis and problem solving methodology.

The Process Technician will be performing the following:
Plant Operations
- Operate process units in accordance with Standard Operating Plans, Daily Operating Instructions, Standing Instructions, and HSSE procedures.
- Maintain operations within the Design-Operating-Window and Integrity-Operating-Window.
- Conduct structured rounds (DCS Panel/Field), take corrective actions, and manage plant/equipment upsets, abnormal conditions, and emergencies.

Job Requirements:
We welcome both fresh graduates and experienced candidates.
- Nitec/Higher Nitec in Chemical Process Technology or Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Chemical & Green Technology / Clean Energy.
- For experienced hires: At least 3 years of relevant experience in chemical processing or oil refining/utilities (e.g. steam boilers and Cogeneration for Process Units) will be an advantage.
- Able to operate DCS independently (Training will be provided for fresh graduates).
