To support the growth in Manufacturing, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer to work in Cochlear Malaysia. You will be responsible to maintain efficient and productive engineering support to the manufacturing /repair areas through implementation and management of day-to-day manufacturing/repair issues and process improvement. You will be also required to provide engineering support to Manufacturing and Repair cost saving activities in CMY and ensuring quality requirements are met.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Provide the first point of contact for Manufacturing & Repair on yield, quality and throughput issues.
• Provide solutions to identified Manufacturing & Repair problems
• Supporting NPI activities and helps ensure a smooth transition into production.
• Analyse and resolve complex Manufacturing, Quality and Compliance issues (e.g., CAPA, non-conformances, audit observations)
• Ensure NCR's, CAPAs, Concessions and Change Notes are processed in a timely manner.
• Identify process solutions and create plans to coordinate activities and mentoring other engineers and technicians when required to progress plan.
• Ability to analyze the failures & challenges using proven method to identify the root cause and implement solution for yield & quality improvement.
• Liaise and collaborate with other departments (warehouse, supply, procurement, NPI) to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Review product, process and equipment designs, work instruction and safety to ensure the business needs are met without compromising the quality requirements.

Key Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in preferably in a highly regulated GMP manufacturing environment.
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technical or Manufacturing qualification
• Experience in working within a Quality Management system is highly desirable for this role.
• Experience in working within Production Management system (e.g. Oracle)
• Experience in Design of Experiment (DOE), develop protocols, perform process validations IQ/OQ/PQ is a MUST for this role.
• Experience in designing process flow and production line layouts is a MUST for this position.
• Experience in risk management (risk analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA) is highly desirable for this position.
• Experience in designing process flow and production line layouts.
• Exposure to a highly regulated environment working within a Quality Management Systems (QMS) framework - ISO exposure or good understanding of QMS is a MUST for this role.
• Knowledge in Change Management Process is highly desirable.
• Demonstrate strong Project Management skills especially in process improvement and cost saving projects are an added advantage.
• Proven competencies in problem solving, design, manufacturing / business process development and personal influence
• Good interpersonal skills and written communication in English

The Process Technician will be performing the following:

Plant Operations

• Operate process units in accordance with Standard Operating Plans, Daily Operating Instructions, Standing Instructions, and HSSE procedures.
• Maintain operations within the Design-Operating-Window and Integrity-Operating-Window.
• Conduct structured rounds (DCS Panel/Field), take corrective actions, and manage plant/equipment upsets, abnormal conditions, and emergencies.

Job Requirements:

We welcome both fresh graduates and experienced candidates.

• Nitec/Higher Nitec in Chemical Process Technology or Diploma in Chemical Engineering / Chemical & Green Technology / Clean Energy.
• For experienced hires: At least 3 years of relevant experience in chemical processing or oil refining/utilities (e.g. steam boilers and Cogeneration for Process Units) will be an advantage.
• Able to operate DCS independently (Training will be provided for fresh graduates).
• WSQ Qualifications in workplace safety and health for process plants/manufacturing sites are an advantage.
• Mandatory HSSE competency requirement specifically on ACSSEW (Confined space safety assessor)
• Qualified as a gas tester and/or confined space assessor.
• Flexible to perform both shift work and day-work, as well as overtime, when required.

Work Location: Pulau Bukom or Jurong Island.

Job Summary:

The Process Technician is responsible for performing assigned technical tasks, assist with process development and generation of visual instructions and procedures, completes assigned duties on time, follows document procedures, and maintains compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Create manufacturing documentation required to support manufacturing, testing, and production operations.

Create simple tools, fixtures, and jigs to support production operations.

Assist Process Engineers with various tasks necessary to support daily manufacturing operations.

Initiate troubleshooting, root cause analysis and identifying effective solutions to production problems or NPI projects.

Coordinate communication to Production Operators or Process Engineers on root causes analysis and findings.

Assist Process Engineers in executing Continuous Improvement activity - Yield, Cycle Time improvement etc.

Assist to Quote and Request P.O. for New Equipment’s, Fixtures and Tools.

Supports investigation of non-conforming materials.

Support and perform validation activities (IQ, OQ and PQ) lead by Process Engineers.

Support and perform continuous verification of manufacturing equipment, to make sure equipment is in good working conditions and maintain its validated state.

Perform any other reasonable duties/task assigned by Supervisor/Superior.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

1 years of experience in Production Sustaining and/or New Product Introduction Projects.

Demonstrated skills in basic electronics and/or mechanical design aptitude.

Ability to communicate in Malay (written and oral) and basic English (written and oral).

Ability to perform basic data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in high volume manufacturing environment.

Experience with optical / electro-mechanical assembly and testing.

Electronic and mechanical equipment troubleshooting skills.

Experience with CAD software.

Knowledge on ISO-13485.

General knowledge in Lean Manufacturing; SPC techniques, QC tools etc.

Education:

Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Electrical or Electronics or higher.

Physical requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in a production environment. It is requiring frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.

• Assists in preparing charts, graphs, spaghetti diagrams, floor layouts, standard work documentation tooling and value stream maps to illustrate workflow.
• Creates A3’s, completes 7-week checklists, reviews Kanban information, and assists in performing time observations to identify waste and/or setup reduction opportunities using stopwatch, video camera, digital camera, and/or similar equipment.
• Assists more seasoned facilitators conducting RIE’s and other improvement initiatives.

Delivery:

• Under the guidance of a more seasoned individual, participate or lead.
• Focused teams aimed primarily at site-level process improvements.
• Problem solving activities including the identification of root causes corrective actions.
• Participate daily Gemba improvement walks and activities.
• Training material presentations and simulation exercises.
• Recommends revision of methods of operation or material handling, alterations in equipment layout, product design, or other changes to improve flow, increase productivity or improve standards by incorporating 6S, visual management and standard work.
• Assist in training others on improvement tools and techniques.
• Constantly monitors the hazards of the workplace and ensure actions are taken to lead to safe operations practices.
• Conducts regular 6S audits and provides feedback for improvement.
• Implements and optimizes one-piece flow processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

Business Partner:

• Collaborates with production personnel and engineers to implement improvement changes.

Education, Experience and Certification Requirements:

• Preferred Diploma or related experience (3-5 years)
