About the role
Smart Little Bean Early Reading Centre (Sekama Branch) is seeking a dedicated Mandarin Teacher to join our dynamic team. As a Mandarin Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality early childhood education and fostering a love for the Mandarin language in our students. This is a full-time position based in Kuching, Sarawak.
What you'll be doing
Plan and deliver engaging Mandarin language lessons for children aged 4 to 10 years old
Implement effective teaching strategies to support children's language development and learning
Create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment that encourages exploration and active participation
Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement the centre's curriculum
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and development
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
Actively contribute to the overall success and growth of the centre
What we're looking for
Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education or a related field
Fluency in Mandarin and a strong command of the language
Experience teaching Mandarin to young children in a childcare or educational setting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and the teaching team
Demonstrated ability to create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans
Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering children's learning and development
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver engaging, differentiated Mandarin lessons suitable for native speakers, bilingual students, and beginners.
- Ensure lesson planning, delivery, and assessment align with IGCSE Mandarin standards and the school's curriculum framework.
- Incorporate a range of teaching strategies, including the effective use of technology and authentic materials, to support student learning.
- Design and implement schemes of work that reflect best practices in language acquisition and support successful outcomes in IGCSE Mandarin (First Language, Second Language, and Foreign Language).
- Monitor and assess student progress using appropriate formative and summative tools.
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including IGCSE examinations.
- Create a supportive learning environment that encourages risk-taking, curiosity, and cultural appreciation.
- Provide individualized support and feedback to students of all language levels.
- Encourage student participation in co-curricular and enrichment activities related to Mandarin language and Chinese culture.
- Work closely with colleagues within the Modern Foreign Languages Department and across the school to promote language learning and interdisciplinary connections.
- Participate actively in departmental planning, school events, parent-teacher conferences, and open days.
- Contribute to the development of the Mandarin curriculum and share best practices with the wider team.
- Uphold the school’s values and safeguarding standards in all interactions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reporting and communications with parents.
- Engage in continuous professional development to keep up with developments in language teaching and IGCSE assessment.

Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park, Kuala Lumpur campus is a large 3-18 school located on a green 20-acre site with excellent facilities and offers a welcoming, inclusive and stimulating place to work. Skills, Qualification And Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in education is a prerequisite.
- You must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
- Ideally, you will have prior experience in teaching international students
- Possess a high level of proficiency in the subject matter and a thorough understanding of the mandarin syllabus.
