What you will be responsible for:
- Configure, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems
- Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency
- Manage storage systems, including NetApp, Ceph, and ZFS.
- Implement and maintain system automation tools for provisioning and configuration management.
- Deploy and monitor system performance and health using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, and Prometheus.
- Administer resource scheduling software for workload management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Apply networking and security best practices, including firewall configurations and access controls.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
How you will stand out:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat), with expertise in system tuning and performance optimization.
- Proficient in scripting (Shell, with Python or Perl as a plus) and automation tools (Ansible, PXE, Kickstart).
- Experienced in storage management (NetApp, Ceph, ZFS) and system monitoring (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
- Knowledgeable in resource scheduling (Openlava, Slurm) and networking/security best practices (RHCE/CCNA preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with an innovative mindset to drive system improvements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to perform under pressure.

About the job Linux System Engineer (Kuala Lumpur)Responsibilities
- Install new systems (bare metal and virtual machines), rebuild existing systems and configure hardware with a focus on infrastructure as code and automation.
- OS installation, Trouble shooting and performance troubleshooting and apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
- Compile packages from source.
- Develop and maintain configuration management tools and Automation, Python, Bash Scripting,
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Work closely with Software Engineers to develop CI/CD pipelines.
- Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Manage security on the systems platform.
- Perform and ensure daily automated backup operations are carried out.
- Apply operating system patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
- Make recommendations for future upgrades.
Requirements
- Knowledge of tools such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, HAProxy, MinIO, Inet, FreeIPA, Baculum etc.
- Container and Container Orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of Databases, Postgres SQL, MySql etc.
- Knowledge on opensource email platforms such as Zimbra.
- Experience running hybrid environment of on-premises and cloud services (Nutanix, XEN,AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge on storage management, LVM, XFD, BTRFS.
- Knowledge on monitoring tools such as Zabbix.

- Be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux/Unix infrastructure across global data centers while ensuring resilience and high availability.

- Assist clients in deployment and migration projects through consultancy and knowledge sharing.
- Provide level 2 and level 3 technical support, collaborating with other data center engineers to address complex technical issues.
- Be required to strive for continuous improvement in the operating environment while actively seeking opportunities to implement automation.
- Collaborate within a global team to provide follow-the-sun support, ensuring a stable environment for critical services.
- Work with the following tools: Linux, HPUX, Solaris, Service Guard, Ansible, Rundeck, Foreman, Puppet, Zabbix, Confluence, and Kibana.
- Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 support of Linux/Unix platforms.
In your new role you will:

You are best equipped for this task if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, with a preference for holding certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or similar Linux/Unix Administrator certifications.
- Preferably 3-5 years of professional experience in similar environments – ideally IT in a highly critical production environment.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following IT tools: Ansible, Python, Rundeck, Git, Bitbucket, Puppet, Foreman, Kibana, Zabbix.
- Good knowledge of one or more of the following operating systems: RedHat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Solaris, HP-UX.
- First experiences in project management.
- Willingness to rotate on call (24/7)
- An independent, structured, and methodical way of working
- Good English proficiency.
