The Legal Support Lead Officer is a senior level role, responsible for providing legal support to the business teams in various APAC jurisdictions re. Commercial Cards, Cash, Liquidity, Trade, and Investor Services. This is also a support function (not a country counsel or product role), where focus is on hiring a suitable candidate with specific and detailed exposure to agreements and negotiation of said agreements re. Commercial Cards business. The overall objective of this role is to provide support to the Legal Team. There will be substantial exposure to ideation, drafting, negotiating for all aforesaid five products/ lines of business. Such exposure (or more) will also depend on the ability of candidate to shoulder said responsibility. Selected candidate may also be guiding junior officers within the team, thereby giving substantial leadership opportunity as well that may be expanded depending on the candidate review of contributions by senior management.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting Product Legal in periodic review, and where required, standardization of templates (agreements etc.). Liaising with country counsel of given jurisdiction for incorporating said jurisdiction specific points in the legal documentation for relevant product.
  • Assisting business in review and resolution of legal queries pertaining to any of these 5 products (N.B.: Primary focus shall remain on Commercial Cards).
  • Responsible for legal support activities related to legal operations, litigation, settlements, or negotiation and contract administration etc.
  • Manage the execution, review, processing and tracking of legal documentation and records, executes transactions and completes varied work requests from multiple sources that may be complex in character and have tight deadlines. Record keeping re. approvals given to business and other departments will also form an integral part of this role.
  • Single handedly help local business or country counsel negotiate agreements with clients.
  • Participate in legal programs and projects to achieve coordinated and efficient process improvements and legal support solutions. Liaise with other control/ functional businesses in support of initiatives pertaining to products within scope (see job description above).
  • Interact with senior leaders, internal and external peers to gather information and works closely with the team’s management to determine legal solutions. Make PPTs/ Excel presentations and present them to senior management (business/ legal) for explaining any given issue.
  • Undertake periodic knowledge sessions (on specific topics) for business or legal colleagues for any of the aforesaid products (particularly for Comm. Cards).
  • Remain updated and current with regulatory changes (new regulations etc.), internal policy changes and developments in the law for aforesaid Products.
  • Conduct independent research, investigations and analysis, applying institutional knowledge and knowledge of laws, rules and regulations, to support in the identification of legal solutions situations or to formulate an approach or strategy.
  • Apply in-depth understanding of how associated risks differ depending on product and documentation as envisaged in relevant jurisdiction(s) and provides advice to Risk and Business.
  • Assess risk (incl. reputational risk) when business decisions are being made. Help business arrive at a fair outcome for clients.
  • Adhering to firm’s Policy, apply sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices. Escalating issues in a timely and professional manner, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 8 - 10 years of relevant experience (on business or legal side), preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services.
  • Must possess excellent oratory, interpersonal, and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior management formally.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of English and Malay language (written and spoken). Ability to read, write, and speak Mandarin/ Cantonese may be helpful.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal customs and practices re. Commercial Cards. Knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Ability to manage complex documentation with organization and detail.

Education:

Deloitte Global Employer Services Immigration team's experience working with local regulators, immigration authorities, and multi-jurisdictional committees provides indispensable knowledge and insights that can help facilitate streamlined management of essential issues. This expertise provides distinctive insight into helping ensure that immigration compliance requirements are effectively and efficiently managed. To assist and serve a portfolio of sizeable multinational clients relating to advisory and consultancy on the following: Immigration support (this may include coordinating all requirements of immigration from initial consultation, eligibility assessments, technical advisory drafts and preparation of immigration documentations.) Legal advisory liaison on business and employment related issues. poviding immigration support to regional portfolios when required. Liaising with relevant authorities for immigration cases. Have a clear overview on ongoing cases and manage escalations timely and professionally. Conducting ad-hoc research where necessary.

Job Description

  • Conduct legal and background research as required to support the Legal Department's functions and projects.
  • Prepare, review, and draft legal documents, contracts, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Prepare approval memos for contracts, legal documents, and agreements for Management's review and approval.
  • Organise and manage large volumes of legal documents and correspondence, including systematic filing, indexing, and archiving.
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the Legal Department, including scheduling, data entry, document preparation, and coordination of meetings.
  • Handle and sort all incoming mail addressed to the organisation, ensuring accurate and timely distribution to relevant departments or personnel in accordance with defined timelines.
  • Ensure all incoming legal letters are promptly recorded, addressed, and escalated to the Head of Legal Department within the stipulated time frame.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling all legal documents and sensitive information.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Assistant should have:

  • Degree in Law, Legal Studies.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in a legal role, preferably within a corporate or legal firm setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Legal & Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive support to Senior Management across both executive and legal functions. This is a hybrid role combining high-level administrative responsibilities with hands-on legal and regulatory support. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, discreet, and capable of navigating dynamic business environments with professionalism and sound judgment.

Responsibilities:

1) Executive Support

  • Manage complex calendars and schedules for Senior Management, including meeting coordination and reminders.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, review materials, and take accurate minutes; chair internal meetings when necessary.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding items, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
  • Coordinate seamless communication between management, departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Organise comprehensive travel arrangements (visa, flight, accommodation, ground transport) and handle itinerary changes on short notice.

2) Legal & Transactional Support

  • Draft, review, and support negotiation of basic agreements and commercial documents.
  • Assist with legal due diligence, regulatory compliance reviews, and deal execution support.
  • Support general legal operations, including legal research, internal memo drafting, and filing.

3) Compliance & Corporate Governance

  • Assist in maintaining good corporate governance, including cross-border regulatory filings and license applications.
  • Liaise with legal counsel, regulators, and stakeholders to support compliance processes.

4) Contract & Document Management

  • Develop and maintain a centralised contract database, tracking key milestones, terms, and renewal dates.
  • Ensure secure storage and proper execution of legal and corporate documentation.
  • Monitor performance obligations and ensure compliance with contractual terms.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in law, Legal Studies, or related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Secretary / Executive Assistant
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and high professional ethics.
  • Prior experience in legal documentation or corporate governance is advantageous.
  • High attention to detail, strong multitasking abilities, and excellent organizational skills.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Comfortable with business travel to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and other regional offices as required.

Additional Information :

  • Candidates will undergo 2 rounds of interviews with some pre-employment assessment tests as part of the recruitment procedure.
