- To keep abreast of new regulations and disseminate regulatory circulars and other regulatory developments to management, other Compliance teams and relevant stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
- Computer literate and familiarity in MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Minimum 2 years working experience.
- Minimum a degree in Law, or equivalent.
- A Malaysian citizen of full age.

- Solid understanding of core legal principles and contract negotiation strategies, with added value for experience in governance, data protection, and privacy laws.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain legal concepts in a layman-friendly way.

About the Role
The Legal P&C and L&H Transactions team is looking for a Legal Counsel to support in the execution of L &H and P&C transactions across the APAC region in addition to supporting the global legal transactions team from time to time with transactions outside of APAC. In addition to applying deep technical expertise in the legal advice and execution of transactions, the role also requires due application of oversight and steering in respect of transactions governance and compliance with external and internal requirements.
The role will present an opportunity for the successful candidate to work with the global legal transactions team as well as with different local legal sources (whether part of the local reinsurance counsel team or those part of different teams in Legal Corporate Centre and Group Functions for example) to lead the strengthening of legal transactional support across the globe. The role will support the execution of Legal and Compliance transaction governance, setting structure and processes for Legal by Design in the area of transactions, building a competency network of lawyers and support to build a global platform for the management of transactional knowledge and the development of best practices to enhance contract certainty and loss avoidance as well as driving transactional key initiatives.
In this role you will:
- Work closely with a diverse group of structurers, marketers, client managers, underwriters, actuaries and other cross-functional colleagues as part of the transactions core team for both LHSS and PCSS
- Provide legal advice guidance and support in relation to complex structures (e.g. deals falling within the FMT scope) for both LHSS and PCSS
- Review, draft and negotiate contracts and legal documents for reinsurance and retrocession transactions during structuring, negotiation, execution and implementation phases
- Conduct legal and regulatory due diligence on transactions; analyze and advise on legal and regulatory matters as they apply to Swiss Re's transaction activities in reinsurance APAC or globally
- Support the strengthening of transactional knowledge management and the development of house positions for reinsurance and retrocession transactions within Legal P&C and L&H Transactions, the development of efficient transactional policies, templates (in different languages if necessary) and best practices that maintain high legal, compliance and ethical standards
- Facilitate international coordination of legal/regulatory issues and help to maintain and adjust the legal and regulatory framework and processes of Swiss Re in order to meet the legal, regulatory and internal requirements
- Support internal group projects and initiatives, as needed; provide timely and concise input to senior management and ensure adequate management reporting

- Provide legal advisory services to internal departments (contributions and non-contributions-related matters).
- Ensure that every prosecution and civil action referred by the branch is managed in a proper and orderly.
- Review Court decisions that are not in favour of the Board as well as prepare relevant reports/submissions to be considered for appeal to a higher.
- Handle civil law disputes, whether filed against the EPF Board or filed by the Board in the Magistrate/Secretary/High Court in Sarawak (contractual dispute).
- Handle cases related to nomination objections filed against the organization.
- Managing and reviewing the progress of all litigation cases and liaising with panel solicitors.
- Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Malaysian citizen.
- Pass Malay Language including oral test at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent as recognised by the Government.
- Possess a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB) or equivalent LLB qualifications from any local or overseas higher learning institutions recognised by the Government of Malaysia.
- Fresh graduate with excellent academic performance and up to 2 years of relevant experience in the required skillset.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts and issues clearly and effectively.
- Research abilities to gather relevant legal precedents and information.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong proficiency in both spoken and written English and Bahasa Melayu.

Your role
As a member of the SEAK, Japan, India Legal team, this role will be responsible for providing general legal advice and support to business team for EssilorLuxottica Legal entities based in Malaysia and Indonesia (Retail, e-commerce, etc), including corporate law and commercial agreements in retail, in a fast speed growth business environment. Provide the local team with legal assistance in all different legal matters, as well as risk assessment and assisting the Compliance initiatives aligned with Asia Compliance Director (such as Data Privacy, ABC, conflict of interest review etc.)
Main responsibilities:
- General business support: contracts, leases, real estate documents review, bank guarantees for security deposits, various agreements such as intercompany loans, NDAs, sponsorship agreement, promotion agreements, franchise agreements, regulatory support for medical devices at stores, commercial rebates and other agreements, review contractual structure for both retail and WHS business – MY and Indonesia).
- Wholesale MY and ID: drafting and review of Distribution agreements, ARAs, AFA roll out, agency / PR agreements, commercial side letters, marketing materials review and regulatory research for medical devices.
- Provide administrative support to the legal team, including monitoring deadlines, contract and documents management
- Assist the legal team with legal tasks as required from time to time
- Conduct legal research on various regulatory, A&P and consumer law
- Drafting correspondence and legal documents for all SEAK businesses
- Handling requests in relation to day-to-day general business activities (supporting retail and real estate and all other Malaysian, Indonesian departments in particular)
- Review of day-to-day marketing materials of lenses and frames (locally produced) compliance with local laws SEAK
- Participating in meetings with internal clients
Main requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) and Malaysian law qualified lawyer. Additional qualification in Singapore would be an advantage.
- At least 4yrs post qualification working experience in reputable law firms and in house would be a plus.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with a solution orientated approached.
- Excellent business acumen to understand business concepts and act as business partner; able to thrive in a fast-paced and hands on environment.
- Leadership and strategic skills, capable to handle complexity and to manage priorities.
- Good communication skills and commercial awareness.
- Strong command in English, Bahasa and other local languages (such as Mandarin) would be an advantage for business communication purposes.
