The aerospace industry relies on high-performance polymers for critical applications such as structural components, coatings, and adhesives. With increasing demand for sustainable and locally sourced materials, there is a growing need to explore alternative, bio-based production routes for these polymers.
In this internship, the student will conduct desktop research on current technologies for replacing conventional raw materials with renewable, bio-derived alternatives, and contribute to experimental design. The student will also gain hands-on laboratory experience by performing lab-scale synthesis of the target polymer and characterizing the final product in comparison with commercially available equivalents.
Objectives
To investigate and perform the synthesis of a bio-based polymer, summarizing and outlining the key steps in its production process.
To monitor and analyze the chemical reaction, and to characterize the final product, comparing the findings with relevant literature data.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge in organic chemistry and chemical engineering principles.
- Prior laboratory experience, particularly with glassware setups and GC analysis, is preferred.

- Perform and oversee complex histological techniques, including tissue embedding, sectioning, and specialized staining.
- Regularly monitor QC, calibration, instrument log book records to ensure compliance with SOPs, correct filing.
- To monitor the arrival times of couriers, completion, checking and filing of courier round sheets is completed according to documented procedures.
- To report any deviation in writing to the Head of Department Logistics.
- To review the courier rounds at least every 2 months and document recommendations to the courier supervisor or Head of Department Logistics any changes in scheduling / processes / procedures.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 to 7 year's of working experience in a laboratory setting, with preferably at least 3 years in a supervisory position.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Lab Technology, Biomedical Science, or any other related majors.
- Able to work on rotational shift / on-call duties if required.
- Phlebotomy skills is an added advantage.
