The Laboratory Manager will include managing overall lab operations in accordance with ISO 15189:2012 requirement; developing procedures to ensure safety, security, quality, and accuracy of results; designing and performing test procedures; analyzing requests for tests and equipment; tending to administrative and management matters; consulting with principal clients; and assisting in budgeting.
Job Responsibilities
- To ensure that a roster is prepared
- To formally review staff performance on an annual basis
- To continuously assess the training and competency of staff
- To ensure that all processes and procedures comply with Quality Documentation and to assist in the routine functions of the laboratory to ensure consistent service.
- To regularly liaise with the Regional Laboratory Manager, HODs and Core Lab Manager with regards to process improvement
- To ensure that all corrective action taken with respect to testing processes is correctly and adequately documented.
- Perform and oversee complex histological techniques, including tissue embedding, sectioning, and specialized staining.
- Regularly monitor QC, calibration, instrument log book records to ensure compliance with SOPs, correct filing.
- To monitor the arrival times of couriers, completion, checking and filing of courier round sheets is completed according to documented procedures.
- To report any deviation in writing to the Head of Department Logistics.
- To review the courier rounds at least every 2 months and document recommendations to the courier supervisor or Head of Department Logistics any changes in scheduling / processes / procedures.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 to 7 year's of working experience in a laboratory setting, with preferably at least 3 years in a supervisory position.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Lab Technology, Biomedical Science, or any other related majors.
- Able to work on rotational shift / on-call duties if required.
- Phlebotomy skills is an added advantage.

Developing and Implementing Quality Control Systems
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control (including In Process Quality Control - IPQC) procedures, protocols and standards in compliance with food safety and quality requirements / regulations.
- Ensuring lab participation in periodic proficiency testing program.
- Ensuring method validation is carried out and SPC is utilized.
- This includes overseeing chemical and physical testing and releasing of raw and primary packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished goods, while upholding food safety & quality standards such as GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000.
Supervising Laboratory Operations
- Ensure accurate and timely analysis and releasing of raw and primary packaging materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Ensure lab instruments are calibrated, maintained and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Overseeing sample collection, product quality testing, and documentation.
- Ensuring the laboratory operates efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality control activities, including test results, audits, and corrective actions, ensuring full traceability of products.
Ensuring Product Quality And Safety
- Track quality metrics and prepare reports, presentations, operational documents, and other communications containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content related to Quality Control activities and arrive at sound conclusions.
- Support in non-conformities and deviations investigation and implement corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits.
Driving Continuous Improvement
- Identifying areas for improvement in testing protocols and product release processes.
- Promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
Team Leadership And People Management
- Lead daily laboratory operations and supervise a team of QC Personnel.
- Providing training and development opportunities for team members.
- Fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications And Skills
- Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or related disciplines.
- 5 to 8 years of QC or laboratory experience in food manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of quality control tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), laboratory management and ISO 17025.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.

- Proficient in analytical techniques, food microbiology, and quality systems. Learn and effectively utilized specialized knowledge to improve Quality Control and Laboratory Standard at site.

The Laboratory Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to contaminant and pesticide testing, safeguard compliance with international standards, and drive operational excellence through scientific rigor, robust method validation, and consistent equipment reliability. The role combines scientific authority with hands-on formulation control and strategic resource optimization, ensuring that analytical operations remain efficient, reliable, and ISO 17025-compliant. The successful candidate will manage and inspire a high-performing team, oversee technical direction and quality assurance, and uphold the laboratory’s reputation for accuracy, reliability, and customer trust across diverse industry sectors. Responsibilities
Lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to contaminant and pesticide testing and ensure ISO 17025 compliance. Oversee method validation, data integrity, QA/QC programs, and instrument maintenance to ensure reliable results. Manage resource optimization, budgeting, and scheduling to maintain efficient operations. Provide scientific leadership, mentorship, and performance management for 8+ staff, including setting objectives and KPIs and driving CAPA processes. Support client-facing activities, including technical input for proposals and ensuring timely, accurate reports. Must-Haves / Qualifications
Master’s degree (equivalent to a minimum of five years of university education, including a Bachelor’s degree) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Technical Direction and Quality Management under ISO 17025, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities in managing and developing teams (8+ staff) and driving continuous improvement through training, mentoring, and CAPA implementation. Proven expertise in Pesticide Residue Analysis, using advanced LC and GC platforms (LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, GC-FID/ECD, Headspace GC-MS/MS) for multi-residue detection in food and environmental matrices. Comprehensive knowledge of Metrology and Method Validation, including LOD/LOQ, accuracy, precision, linearity, recovery, robustness, and uncertainty estimation in accordance with GUM guidelines. Experience in Equipment Reliability Management, including preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and requalification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of LC/GC/MS and FT-IR/NIR systems. Proficiency in Resource Optimization and Data Integrity Management, including cost control per sample, inventory management, use of LIMS for traceability, and adherence to ALCOA+ and HSE standards. Experience in Formulation Control, including analysis of active ingredients, impurities, solvents, and co-formulants to ensure regulatory compliance. Proficiency in FT-IR and FT-NIR spectroscopy for compound identification, screening, and batch release, including use of spectral libraries and chemometric tools. Experience in broader contaminant testing (fatty acids, vitamins, mycotoxins by LC-MS/MS, heavy metals by ICP-OES/ICP-MS) with exposure to DoE and chemometric analysis (PCA/PLS).
