As the Associate Director, Legal Contract Management , you will provide leadership and guidance to our Kuala Lumpur-based legal team while directly supporting Singtel Singapore’s Consumer and International Digital Services business units with high-quality legal advice and contract management. From time to time, you will support other business units within Singtel including Enterprise, Networks and IT and also provide oversight of the contract managers supporting such business units. You’ll be part of a high-performing legal team that plays a key role in driving commercial outcomes while upholding strong legal and governance standards across the Singtel Group.
This role requires someone with strong commercial and legal acumen, excellent leadership qualities, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization. You’ll collaborate closely with senior legal stakeholders and business leaders, ensuring our KL legal team is empowered and aligned with Singtel’s broader business objectives.
Make an Impact by:
Provide on-the-ground supervisory oversight and day-to-day guidance to KL-based contract managers.
Act as a sounding board to assist team members with legal queries, ensuring timely and practical support.
Deliver constructive feedback and collaborate with Assistant General Counsels on performance reviews, development plans, and team growth initiatives.
Organize and conduct legal training programs (internal and external) to continuously build team capability.
Legal Support for Consumer & Digital Services
Work closely with the Assistant General Counsel (Consumer and International Digital Services) to support Singtel’s Consumer and IDS business units.
Independently review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including IT, sales, and procurement contracts.
Provide clear, commercially sound legal advice in a pragmatic and solution-oriented manner.
Manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities with confidence and efficiency.
Cross-functional Legal Support
Support other key business units such as Enterprise, Networks, and IT, based on business demands.
Offer contract oversight and legal guidance to relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with Group standards and risk appetite.
Skills for Success:
- Degree in Law and admitted to practice in Malaysia / Singapore or the UK
- Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience, including 3–5 years in a reputable law firm and broad-based in-house commercial exposure.
- Proven track record of leading or mentoring legal professionals, with a focus on development and performance.
Expertise in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Familiarity with IT, data privacy, intellectual property, competition law, and general litigation matters.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong commercial instincts with a problem-solving mindset.
Ability to work under pressure and manage tight timelines with multiple business units.
Team-oriented, curious, meticulous, and adaptable.
Willingness to travel occasionally to Singapore for business needs.
This is a fully onsite role.

The Opportunity:
Agoda is looking for a seasoned Legal Associate Director, Fintech & Payments with a proven successful track record (ideally with APAC experience) of providing strategic legal advice on regulated and non-regulated FinTech and Payment activities.
As a senior FinTech and Payments lawyer reporting to the Senior Legal Director Fintech & Payments, you will support the successful execution of the business’ FinTech and Payments strategies, acting as a critical partner to helping develop, launch, and enable Agoda’s mission to deliver a world-class payments operation, globally.
The selected candidate will have the chance to witness first-hand the investment in digital technology that helps take the friction out of travel. As you do so, you will advise on a range of legal questions related to regulatory strategy, scheme rules, product development and user experience, demonstrating familiarity with global payments regulatory contexts and payments industry commercial considerations that enable product management at this scale, and help to define the booking/ payments experience for the future of the company. What you’ll get to do:
You will report directly to the Senior Legal Director, Fintech & Payments, supporting all legal matters related to FinTech and payments impacting Agoda, globally. This will include: (1) ensuring that Agoda conducts all payments and FinTech activities in a compliant fashion, (2) advising on the design, structure, implementation, operation and lifecycle management of Agoda’s FinTech/ payments product initiatives globally and (3) leading on legal negotiations and contractual arrangements related to FinTech, payments and wider financing/ finance team activities.
- You will be a key member of the Agoda FinTech & Payments Legal Team and will engage with the wider Booking Holdings Cross Brand Payments and FinTech Legal group.
- You will work cross functionally/ in a matrix structure on a daily basis, including directly with the Senior Legal Director – Fintech & Payments and the wider Agoda Legal team and other teams including key stakeholders in the technology, product, risk, compliance and finance teams. You will also interact with other senior stakeholders within Agoda, Booking Holdings, Booking Holding Financial Services and other Brands.
- You will support the Senior Legal Director – FinTech and Payments to manage and develop a growing team, external counsels and team budgets.
- You will be accountable for horizon scanning, identify and advising on key emerging payments and financial services regulatory issues impacting Agoda’s business globally.
- You will be called upon to provide practical, commercial and actionable legal advice on a variety of regulated and unregulated financial and payments products and services.
- Minimum 12 years of experience, ideally in FinTech, Payments, or Financial Services law, preferably with top-tier law firm experience and/or experience in a major Tech company.
- Law degree from a top law school, and excellent academic credentials.
- Native or fluent English speaking and writing skills.
- Excellent writing, negotiation and communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
- A strong understanding of the global payment regulatory environment and principles, familiarity with key legislation (with an APAC focus), with significant experience advising on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues.
- Experience in advising on all aspects of FinTech and payments, new product development and product delivery channels and working closely with stakeholders across different legal areas (Commercial, Regulatory, Consumer Protection, Privacy, etc.) and areas outside of legal (Tax, Treasury, Product, Finance Commercial).
- Strong project management and leadership skills, capable of managing multiple assignments and prioritizing appropriately. Comfortable with working under pressure.
- Ability to navigate change and ambiguity, and support others on the journey.
- Positive attitude, high level of integrity and intellectual curiosity with a strong solution orientated approach.
- Eager to learn new technologies and ideas. Comfortable navigating complicated and nuanced issues.
- Previous experience of working within a technology and digital legal environment is desirable.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s interests.
- Oversee delivery of sound legal services and advice to protect the company’s interests and accomplish corporate goals, strategies, and priorities.
- Understand relevant local, state and federal governmental laws and regulations and provide legal advice and opinion on legal issues (i.e. Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, US, UK and etc.).
- Manage due diligence exercise pursuant to fund-raising/IPO activities including but not limited to ensuring proper contract management, proper corporate secretarial records and ensuring compliance with Company laws.
- Conduct diligent research into legal issues and recommend revisions as needed across a range of legal documents and agreements.
- Advise the management on contract management and terms.
- Participate in formulation of general management policy. Institutional policies and procedures, as well as the regulatory environment.
- Manage a team of in house corporate legal members of the legal department and working closely with any external legal firms across Group levels.
- Negotiate, write, and execute agreements and contracts on behalf of the company.
- Advising on contract status and the legal liabilities associated with different deals.
- Anticipate and plan for all legal risks, develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company’s interests.
- Ensure reliable and timely execution of the company’s day-to-day legal activities.
- Any other ad-hoc task as and when required.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Law from an accredited law university. LL.M is highly encouraged.
- At least minimum 12 years of solid legal experience in a high-quality law firm and/or sophisticated in-house legal department, with at least 5 years of experience in leadership role.
- Well-versed with local and regional Contract law, judicial systems and procedures, legal and commercial documentation procedures, and range of applicable laws and regulations that impact on all facets of business policy and operations.
- Experience with legal due diligence exercises.
- Preferably, with experience in IPO exercise and familiarity with IPO documentations.
- Ability to identify and communicate complicated issues to lawyers and non-lawyers in an effective and timely manner including risk assessments, legal guidance, strategy, etc.
- Ability to lead teams, mentor staff, solve problems, balance competing priorities, and provide strategic direction.
- Demonstrates excellence in communication and in working with stakeholders from diverse cultures and countries, strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
