Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Surveyor to join our team in Port Klang, Malaysia. AHK Malaysia provides services to the mining, metals, refining and recycling industries in a variety of capacities including auditing, supervision, sampling and analysis of metals and minerals derived from the previously mentioned practices.

As a Surveyor you will be responsible for ensuring client instructions are carried out at various consignment locations.  You will act as an independent party to verify compliance to agreed processes and provide details to clients regarding the handling of their product.  Examples of some assignments would include: witnessing the processing of recyclable/refining materials, conducting inventory counts, performing active sampling of client products and preparing resulting samples for shipment as necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Attend inspection locations for the loading and unloading of cargoes in accordance with job instructions.
• Routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Validate and communicate all results of inspection to the Operation Supervisor in accordance with standard operational procedures and controlled documents.
• Maintain inspection records and ensure all work areas and equipment are clean and in a safe condition necessary for the performance of all job-related tasks.
• Operate in accordance with company policies, ethics and health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including site specific requirements.
• Inspecting, supervision of sampling, weighing and subsequent sealing of samples in accordance with established procedures.
• Updating internal and external clients throughout a job with key information pertinent to the operations; this includes, but not limited to, job timeline, material condition, facility access and any issues/ problems that may arise.
• Provide internal daily job updates via email, spreadsheets and business applications that are already established.
• Establishing and maintaining sample integrity and security. Thereafter ensure safe delivery and dispatch of samples at the courier depot.
• Ensuring security of seals and other sealing materials.
• Capturing, checking, correcting and updating pertinent job data and information.
• Correctly utilising, maintaining and securing project tools, equipment and stores.
• Maintaining high levels of work quality, safety standards and professionalism at site.
• Undertaking daily safety & risk routines for their own health, safety, security and environment.
• Ensuring appropriate PPE, tools and equipment are always correctly used, maintained and safeguarded.
• Ensuring safety procedures are strictly observed.
• Ensuring good housekeeping practices are always maintained.
• Ensuring high standards of professionalism, objectivity and integrity are maintained.
• Ensuring confidentiality of client and company information.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

• Operational experience within the surveying and inspection industry is preferred.
• Diploma or High School in a related scientific field or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 0-3 years of relevant work experience in coordination, surveying, or inspection roles.
• Proficiency with basic Microsoft Applications.

Required Languages

• Fluency in English and a second language is desirable

• Occasional domestic travel if required

CONSTRUCTION DIVISION

• Carry out site surveys to ensure accuracy of levels, coordinates, and alignments.
• Set out and verify structural, architectural, and MEP works in accordance with approved drawings.
• Coordinate closely with C&S, MEP, and architectural teams to achieve precise layout and meet project tolerances.
• Prepare and update as-built surveys, survey reports, and related documentation for submission.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment efficiently to support site activities.
• Ensure all surveying works comply with project specifications quality standards and client requirements.
• Liaise with subcontractors, and client representatives for inspection and verification of survey results.

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of working experience in construction
• Experience in data centre projects will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of survey methods, site coordination, and interpretation of construction drawings.
• Proficient in using Total Station, GPS, Auto Level, and other relevant survey instruments.
• Familiar with CAD software and basic BIM coordination.
• Possess strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Able to work independently and effectively within a project team.

About the role

PEMBINAAN YENG TONG SDN BHD is seeking a skilled and experienced Surveyor to join our dynamic team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for conducting detailed surveys, mapping land boundaries, and providing accurate data to support the company's construction projects in Gelang Patah, Johor.

What you'll be doing

1. Operate a range of survey equipment, including GPS and conventional methods.
2. Perform hydrographic and sounding surveys on-site.
3. Interpret and analyze survey data using maps, charts, and plans.
4. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) and related software to process and present data.
5. Plan, organize, and lead survey teams in carrying out land and hydrographic surveys.
6. Provide creative solutions to practical planning and development challenges.
7. Ensure accurate measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapping, land division, titles, mining, and other purposes.

What we're looking for

• Conduct surveys on land sites and properties.
• Examine previous records and evidence to ensure data accuracy.
• Provide reference point and marking for the levels for each trade of the work.
• To provide survey and ensure the verticality and alignment of the buildings is within the construction tolerances or as specified in drawings and specifications.
• Research and design methods for survey processes.
• Use equipment and tools to accurately measure land /building features (e.g. longitudes, latitudes).
• Build maps, sketches, and charts.
• Supervise and provide guidance to field staff.

Job Requirement:

• Degree in Building Surveyor or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years working experience in High Rise Building.
• Good communication, interpersonal skills and customer relation management with high proficiency in verbal and written English.
• Strong analytical skills and able to evaluate, form logical conclusions and reason with facts.
• Good work attitude, flexible, able to work independently and willing to take on challenges.
• This position requires hands-on experience with engineering instruments and proficiency in GPS and GIS systems. To excel as a surveyor, you must possess exceptional mathematical and analytical skills, coupled with a keen eye for measurements.

We are representing our client a prominent property development, construction and engineering company. Our client is currently seeking dynamic candidates for the position of Junior Quantity Surveyor/Quantity Surveyor (Based at Setia Alam, Selangor).

Pre & Post Contract

• Preparation of contract documentation for main contracts, sub-contracts and work orders; shortlist and recommend sub-contractors and suppliers.
• Involved in actual measurements, build up project budget, and build up rates for pricing of tenders using Cubicost software.
• Manage and supervise project contracts, including preparing monthly costing and budgetary reports, claims, consultants, and sub-contractors.
• Preparation of interim valuations, variation orders and Final Account upon completion.
• Attending site meetings and joint site valuations.
• Liaise with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
