We are looking for a driven Junior Associate to join our Brands & Legal team at our Southeast Asia hub located in Kuala Lumpur. This role is suitable for someone with up to 1–2 years of experience who is ready to contribute to high-quality legal services and support a dynamic, international practice.
As an Associate, you’ll support attorneys and partners with legal research, document preparation, prosecution and contentious matters. You will help maintain efficient legal operations and ensure excellent case handling and client care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct legal research, analyze regulations and caselaw, and summarize findings.
- Support legal database management and assist in organizing and tracking case files and deadlines.
- Conduct identical and full availability searches.
- Advise on use and registrability, draft specifications, and prepare applications.
- Report refusals with assessments.
- Prepare responses to MYIPO refusals.
- Prepare response strategies to refusals from SE Asia IP Offices and coordinate with foreign lawyers.
- Prepare assessment and advise on oppositions in or out.
- Handle oppositions, revocation and invalidity actions.
- Prepare skeletal submissions and attend hearings at MYIPO.
- Handle assignment and renewal programs.
- Assist in pleadings and submissions.
- Conduct basic market research in KL on counterfeits and unauthorized use.
- Liaise with government authorities on enforcement actions.
- Prepare complaints for filing for enforcement actions.
- Attend enforcement raid actions and post-raid follow-ups.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client and case information.
- Stay aware of recent case law and regulatory updates and contribute to internal and marketing updates.
- LLB degree from UK or MY (minimum 2:2 grade).
- Admitted to practice in Malaysia.
- Ideally 1–2 years' experience in IP at a KL law firm.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Highly organized, with good attention to detail and excellent time management abilities.
- A motivated, proactive team player who can also work independently.
- Curious, tech-minded, receptive to training.

Micron’s Legal Department is poised for growth and innovation, and we are seeking a Commercial Attorney to support our Commercial Transactions Team.
Reporting to our Assistant General Counsel, Commercial Transactions in Malaysia, this role will help drive improvements in Micron’s contract processes and policies, and will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and processing high volumes of procurement contracts required by Micron's business. This role requires a deep understanding of a wide variety of domestic and international procurement contracts, and a creative and growth mindset. This role is for you if you are passionate about commercial transactions.
This role is on-site (not remote) and will be based in Penang (Batu Kawan), Malaysia.
What You’ll Do
- Draft, negotiate, and process high volumes of commercial, technology, and other procurement contracts.
- Serve as a key resource in Micron’s end-to-end contract management function supporting the business and procurement.
- Help drive implementation of legal efficiencies to support and improve contract processes and operations, including templates and negotiation playbooks.
- Represent Micron legally in commercial interactions and disputes with suppliers, while balancing the business interests of clients with the ultimate fiduciary responsibility to the company.
- Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal teams regarding business and legal issues and risks.
- Law/J.D. degree from an accredited law school, along with active membership in at least one state bar.
- 4-7 years’ experience in the practice of commercial and contract law, with particular experience drafting and negotiating high volumes of purchase agreements, statement of works, non-disclosure agreement (NDAs), maintenance services agreements, in-bound software licenses, and related technology and procurement contracts.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, demonstrate diplomacy, and otherwise interact well with colleagues and management.
- Highly disciplined with the ability to make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work product.
- Strong work ethic and ability to handle and advance multiple projects in a global stakeholder environment (viz., the APAC region).
- Experience with contract lifecycle management and e-signature software tools.
