What You'll Do
Staffing and Mobility are both business critical functions at the heart of what we do at BCG. You will be working closely with senior partners and managing directors in the company to optimize the workforce which directly impacts profitability. You will also be working closely with other HR teams and engage regularly with BCG consultants to understand their development needs, career ambitions and find the right development opportunities for them via project allocations.
You should have excellent communication and negotiation skills as you will be dealing with the high-caliber BCG consulting team on a daily basis. Thinking on your feet and problem solving capability is also a must give the complex and ambiguous situations this role is exposed to regularly.
This role covers Staffing and Mobility function for the BCG South East Asia Consulting Team spanning across 6 countries – Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines. Travel to these locations is expected on an intermittent basis.
Staffing:
- Work with Partners to achieve optimum deployment of consultants to projects
- Understand upcoming projects and expected staffing requirements
- Negotiate with Partners to ensure skill and experience balance across case teams
- Advise partners on right teaming keeping in mind client needs, skill-set match and consultant development needs
- Work closely with Consultants to manage their staffing needs, understand their development needs, advise them on the available opportunities and find the right projects for them
- Communicate regularly with the partners and office heads to maintain up-to-date view of the project pipeline, business development needs and the needs of the business and advise them on capacity and people related matters
- Actively participate in Career Development meetings for consulting staff to provide staffing perspective on consultants and better understand their individual development needs and strengths
- Be a problem solver and ensure the right balance between needs of partners, clients and consultants in making all decisions
- Active contributor to the Regional Asia Pacific and Global teams on staffing related matters and be a catalyst in introducing best practices and new global initiatives to South East Asia
- Actively work towards improving process and efficiency of the function by introducing new policies, guidelines and processes
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure synergy with case commercials resulting in overall profitability
- Responsible for large amounts of upto-date and accurate data maintenance
Mobility and Flexibility:
- Responsible for attracting, finding, evaluating and closing mobility positions for BCG SEA from the global BCG pool of consultants
- Work closely with the Global Mobility Function to manage global programs for SEA such as ambassadorships, associate abroad, social impact secondments
- Work closely with local SEA teams - leadership, practice area leaders, career advisors to make recommendations on incoming and outgoing profiles
- Actively contribute to flexibility policies and guidelines in BCG SEA. Being an advisor to the consulting team on these policies
- Responsible for Mobility and Flexibility data reporting and management
What You'll Bring

- At least 5 years of experience in staffing, resource planning in a professional services or consulting environment.

Within the Services organization, the Advisors & Client Services organization (A&CS) is responsible for delivering our various products and solutions to clients. A&CS is charged with combining professional problem-solving skills with deep segment and functional expertise to address the challenges and opportunities of its clients, enhance Mastercard's strategic and tactical performance and establish Mastercard's global thought-leadership pre-eminence.
The role of the Staffing Manager is to work very closely with the A&CS Cluster leaders, PMs and squad leads to ensure the Client Services organization is effectively executing against our strategy as well as driving engagement within our teams. With a strong understanding of our business, the individual in this role is uniquely set up to ensure that people remain at the center of all that we do.
Role
- Process staffing needs at cluster level understanding specific engagement requirements and coordinating prioritization between Product lines
- In close cooperation with the Client Service leadership, assign resources to client engagements based on predefined criteria targeting optimization of resource utilization across clusters and markets
- Manage settings in the internal systems through all phases of the engagement lifecycle
- Aggregate regional utilization indicators ensuring accuracy about de facto available capacity (accounting for leaves of absence, relocations, part-time resources etc.)
- Work with squad leads and people managers on consolidation of the performance evaluation results and identified development needs translating them into actual opportunities for the Delivery team members

Essential skills and experience:
o 4-8 years of overall career experience, preferably in professional services industry
o Partner at heart - Needs to work in very close partnership with Client Service team members
o Business acumen - Good understanding of the business drivers to optimize resource utilization numbers

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
IN THREE MONTHS
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of GroupM’s staffing strategies, processes, and tools
- Build relationships with HRBPs, Learning & Effectiveness, Job Family leadership, Capacity Planners, Data and Operations Leads, Talent Acquisition and the broader people function
- Gain a clear understanding of the current staffing landscape, including internal talent job families and client demands
- Familiarize yourself with the people data systems and ensure accurate maintenance of staffing-related operations

IN SIX MONTHS
- Actively contribute to connecting internal talent with growth opportunities – operating seamlessly in the Resource Management systems

Understanding our People
- Help internal people connect to opportunities at GroupM
- Work closely with HRBPs and Learning & Effectiveness to understand people needs, opportunities and trainings in preparation for future opportunities
- Work with Job Family leadership to understand Job Family needs & skillsets to support client demands with Client Teams and Capacity Planners
- Work with the broader people team to identify and assess employee’s interests and development areas, offering opportunities to align client scopes to employee’s growth and mobility desires
Fulfillment
- Support Client Teams by staffing people to the right client opportunities
- Balance people, client, and business interests at all times
- Working closely with capacity planners to understand the right people to allocate to staff plans, ensuring the right skillset, location and level
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition team (including contract positions) to staff external hires against staff plans as needed
Data, Tracking & Processes
- Maintain (people data) and all staffing related operations for the people you are responsible for including but not limited to time tracking, rotations, allocation breakage, open aging roles, time in client, utilization, and attrition
- Understand additional people data, outside of the Resource Management function (Example: Tenure, performance, time in role, time in level, professional goals)
- Drive high level of resource utilization ensuring available time is allocated to client work, sales opportunities, etc.
