Job Summary

With direction, Underwrites and analyses new and existing life business within delegated authority levels to achieve business goals and maximize customer experience.

Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities
  1. Completes assignments of moderate to high complexity while working within delegated authority.
  2. Provides technical underwriting support and guidance to customers and distributors, consistently providing excellent customer service.
  3. Maintains internal and external distributor relationships by consistently requesting the correct evidence, making the correct decision, and explaining rating decisions.
  4. Completes a range of queries and referrals within agreed authority limits, measuring the exposure & analysing the risk of each case to maintain underwriting standards.
  5. Proactively contributes to the development and improvement of technical underwriting standards, controls, practices, and procedures to better meet business goals.
  6. Proactively contributes ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions/procedures/philosophy ensuring we charge the right premium for the associated risk.
  7. Identifies training opportunities for self and others and assists with training as directed.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate in the Actuarial Consulting team, you’ll be leading or working as part of a project team to deliver a wide range of client engagements. This includes:

  • Regulatory changes, including IFRS17 and Risk-Based Capital
  • Actuarial Valuation, embedded value reviews, regulatory related reviews
  • Performance evaluation in areas related to financial risks, product distribution and capital issues
  • Advanced financial modelling approaches and systems e.g., designing valuation and Asset Liability Management frameworks

  • Actively pursuing actuarial qualifications with either the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK), the Society of Actuaries (US) or the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
  • Depth of experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Financial and regulatory reporting
  • Valuation of life insurance/family takaful liabilities
  • IFRS17
  • Financial modelling
  • Good understanding of economic or market issues and the ability to interpret their impact on clients
  • Experience in working in a project-based, team-oriented environment, with a proven track record of delivering in face-paced and demanding environment

Qualifications
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity overseeing enterprise-level security.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT), regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in DLP, IAM, security operations, and incident response.
  • Prior experience within Banking, Insurance, or Financial Services is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep understanding of Malaysian regulatory frameworks and data protection laws.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA are highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • The Line(s) of Business Underwriting Manager I leads the development of the underwriting strategy for (a) specific line(s) of business and oversees execution to deliver the required portfolio performance
  • Identify opportunities and risks, use data and insights to make informed decisions and implement changes as needed to achieve desired outcomes
  • Leverage knowledge of market trends and distribution dynamics and work through local teams to ensure that customer needs are met
  • Serve as a referral point for Underwriting decisions which require empowerment to their level
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver business objectives and work with local underwriting teams to ensure consistency and adherence to underwriting standards
