What will you be doing?
- Lead and manage all aspects of industrial relations, including negotiations, grievance handling, and dispute resolution.
- Act as the primary liaison with trade unions, employee representatives, and regulatory bodies to maintain constructive relationships.
- Develop, negotiate, and administer Collective Agreements (CA) to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and legal requirements.
- Provide legal interpretation of labor laws, employment regulations, and company policies to management and employees.
- Advise senior management on potential risks and recommend proactive strategies to minimize industrial disputes.
- Manage and resolve employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and workplace conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
- Monitor changes in employment legislation and ensure company compliance with statutory requirements.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions for management and employees on industrial relations practices, laws, and policies.
- Support HR in workforce planning, organizational restructuring, and change management with minimal disruption to industrial harmony.
- Prepare regular reports and updates on IR trends, negotiations, and compliance matters for senior leadership.
What you bring?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) or related field (Master’s degree or professional legal qualifications will be an added advantage).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Industrial Relations, with hands-on experience in union negotiations and collective agreement management.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, employment regulations, and industrial relations practices.
- Proven track record in managing collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and union engagement.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- High integrity, resilience, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.

Job Description
Reporting To: Head of Industrial Relations and People Operations
Job Purpose:
The Industrial Relations (IR) Specialist is responsible for providing expert advisory and support to Management to ensure all company actions comply with labor laws and regulations. The role involves managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, handling disciplinary matters, and representing the company in industrial disputes. The IR Specialist will also implement initiatives to foster positive employee relations and industrial harmony.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advisory & Compliance:
- Provide guidance to Management on labor laws, industrial relations practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure company policies and procedures align with employment legislation.
2. Employee Relations & Disciplinary Management:
- Assist in managing and enhancing IR practices, including employee discipline, grievance handling, and compliance.
- Conduct investigations, prepare reports, and lead Domestic Inquiry (DI) proceedings.
- Implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) for underperforming employees.
3. Dispute Resolution & Representation:
- Represent the company in conciliation meetings, Industrial Court, or Labor Office proceedings.
- Handle employee grievances effectively to maintain industrial harmony.
4. IR Initiatives & Awareness:
- Develop and implement proactive IR programs to educate employees on labor rights and company policies.
- Conduct training sessions on IR-related matters for employees and managers.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with government agencies, legal advisors, and labor offices to ensure compliance and resolve disputes.
- Maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders.
6. Legal & Regulatory Updates:
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws, industrial court rulings, and best practices in IR.
- Advise Management on implications of new regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Industrial Relations, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in industrial relations, labor law, or employee relations.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment laws, disciplinary procedures, and dispute resolution.
Skills:
- Excellent investigation and report-writing skills.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to represent the company in legal and conciliation proceedings.
- Certification: Knowledge of Industrial Court procedures and labor regulations is
- preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with occasional travel for meetings, court hearings, or government agency visits.
- May require extended hours during critical IR cases or disputes.
Performance Metrics:
- Compliance with labor laws and reduction in legal disputes.
- Effective resolution of employee grievances and disciplinary cases.
- Successful implementation of IR initiatives and training programs.

Review and manage the end-to-end process of Performance Improvement Programme and to ensure a systematic approach to managing staff performance for the Bank.
Keep abreast with the latest development in Industrial Relations.
Other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Head of Group Industrial Relations & People Governance.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Law, Human Resource Management, or equivalent qualifications.

Job Purpose: The role is responsible in the development and implementation of sound policies and procedures on Industrial Relations and its related matters, while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Implement proper Industrial Relations policies & procedures via compliance to the established guidelines and statutory legislations.
Institute disciplinary action in accordance to the Terms and Conditions of Employment, Collective Agreements and Labour Law Requirements.
Manage staff disciplinary issues including conduct investigation/fact finding into cases of discipline and grievance, handling domestic inquiries, Disciplinary Committee related matter.
Ensure that principle of natural justice is adhered to when initiating disciplinary action/conduct investigations.
Manage the statistical reporting of IR for Consequence Management Reporting
Liaise with panel solicitors with respect to Industrial Court cases.
Review and manage the end-to-end process of Performance Improvement Programme and to ensure a systematic approach to managing staff performance for the Bank.
Keep abreast with the latest development in Industrial Relations.
Other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Head of Group Industrial Relations & People Governance.
Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Law, Human Resource Management, or equivalent qualifications.
Knowledge in Disciplinary Procedure, Collective Agreementand relevant acts including Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act and Trade Union Act.
Experience managing union relationships, including engaging with union representatives, handling grievances, and preparing for collective bargaining.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive consultancy and advisory assistance to MEF members on diverse employment-related issues.
Represent members during Collective Agreement negotiations with unions.
Attend conciliation proceedings at the Industrial Relations Department on behalf of members.
Represent members in hearings at both the Labour Court and Industrial Court.
Conduct training courses in Industrial Relations and Labour Laws for MEF members.

Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial relations or related field and those experiences in handling IR cases at the IR/Labour Court are highly advantage
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
Strong negotiation and representation skills
Strong leadership skills to guide, advise and support members
Strong understanding of the key principles of employment laws
Knowledge of the relevant computer systems and software
Possess strong ethics, morals and sound judgement

The opportunity
An Industrial Relations Specialist is responsible for managing the relationship between an organization and its employees, focusing on labor relations, employee rights, and workplace policies.
The Industrial Relations Specialist will oversee and facilitate the relationship between management and employees, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
This role involves partnering with Talent Consultant, General Counsel’s office and Risk Management to resolve employee grievance and disputes, and fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement labor relations strategies and policies.
- Address and resolve employee grievances and disputes in accordance with the Company grievance procedures.
- Conduct investigations related to workplace issues and recommend solutions.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance to management on labor relations issues.
- Monitor and analyze labor market trends and conditions.
- Facilitate training programs on labor relations and employee rights.
Qualifications and preferred skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Preferably with at least 5 to 6 years of proven experience in industrial relations or labor relations.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Education:

- Proficient in English and Japanese.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1/2 years of experience in Industrial Relations, Employee Relations, or HR Operations.
- Experience in a BPO, shared services, or multinational environment is preferred.
- Familiar with Japanese corporate culture is a plus.
