Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Industrial Hygiene Officer based in WP. Kuala Lumpur with some work-from-home flexibility. The Industrial Hygiene Officer will be responsible for implementing and overseeing health and safety programs, conducting risk assessments, ensuring workplace safety compliance, and promoting occupational health standards. The role involves collaborating with teams to improve health, safety, and environmental practices while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Primary responsibility will include Industrial Hygiene services in areas of Chemical Health Risk Assessment, Noise Risk Assessment, Chemical Exposure Monitoring, Local Exhaust Ventilation Inspection, site visits, report writing and to liaise with clients and relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine industrial hygiene monitoring, including chemical exposure monitoring.
• Collect samples using appropriate sampling equipment and techniques following established protocols.
• Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
• Document and record sampling data accurately and prepare preliminary reports.
• Assist in conducting workplace inspections to identify potential health hazards.
• Support the implementation of industrial hygiene control measures.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory and field equipment.
• Participate in training sessions and maintain current knowledge of industrial hygiene practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirement:

• Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor degree or technical certification in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and sampling techniques. Existing certified IHT 1 with DOSH would be prioritize.
• Familiarity with OSHA and other regulatory standards related to industrial hygiene.
• Ability to operate and maintain industrial hygiene equipment such as air sampling pumps and direct-reading instruments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document data.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
• Discipline and punctual, Professional work ethic and high level of personnel integrity
• Possessed own transport, preferably car.
• Able to work outside normal office hours according to team workloads

1. You shall be directly responsible to the Manager (Industrial Monitoring) on all aspects of your work.

2. Your duties shall include preparation of absorbing media for sampling, handle field equipment (training will be provided).

We’re sourcing for qualified candidates to fill the following positions

• Possess a basic degree in Science, HSE from a recognized university.
• Must hold valid & certified Industrial Hygienist.
• Min. 5 years’ working experience in the IH field with at least 2 years’ working experience in the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industry specifically.
• A certified competent person in selected disciplines in IH such as Noise, Radiation Person Officer (RPO), Chemical Health Risk Assessor etc. will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge with OH matter is an advantage.
• Must be prepared to travel offshore.
• Articulate with an excellent command of English.

• Should have a basic medical degree registered with the Malaysian Medical Council and a post-graduate certificate or Diploma or Masters or PhD in OH that is recognized by DOSH.
• Have successfully completed the OHD Training Course and passed OHD examination by NIOSH.

• Must have a basic nursing or medical assistant certificate, diploma or degree registered with the Ministry of Health.
• Must have a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) from the respective body such as Nursing Board or Medical Assistant Board.
• Must complete a post-basic certificate, diploma or degree in Occupational Health.
• Must be prepared to travel offshore.
• Articulate with an excellent command of English.
