The Role

We are seeking a candidate to design layouts for digital and analog circuits based on schematics, utilizing industry-leading CAD tools and cutting-edge foundry technologies. Examples of designs include PLL, DLL, VCO, DAC, current regulators, high-speed differential signaling, droop detection, and die crack monitoring. Proficiency in 2D layout design with the ability to visualize in 3D is essential. Knowledge of CMOS transistor-level digital and analog circuitry is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Layout of basic digital and analog building blocks using transistor-level components.
  2. Layout of analog macros, power pads, and I/O pads based on above blocks.
  3. Collaborate with analog designers on floorplanning, power grid, and signal flow planning.
  4. Perform physical and electrical verification including DRC, LVS, EM/IR, ERC, PERC latch-up, and ESD.
  5. Create blackbox models for other design flow groups.
Preferred Experience
  1. Deep knowledge of CMOS circuit theory.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams regarding layout specifications and requirements.
  3. Experience with Cadence Virtuoso and Mentor Calibre tools.
  4. Minimum 5 years of relevant analog layout design experience.
  5. Knowledge of chip-level integration and ESD concepts is a plus.
  6. Experience with LVS, DRC, ERC, ESD, latch-up, EMIR, and reliability testing.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Provide PCB design support to various functional groups globally, i,e: R&D, Test development, etc. Review and analyze design schematics to plan layout of PCB components including dense multilayer boards. Layout various type of high-speed optical communications boards, ie: Module transceiver, transponder, and test boards according to corporate design guidelines. Utilize CADCAM tools to assist in design process from Schematic entry to Gerber post processing. Software used: Mentor PADS Layout, PADS Logic and Router, Blueprint, CAM350 and Footprint Expert. Communicate with Hardware Design Engineer locally or from other R&D sites globally (design reviews) during design process to ensure the designs fulfill the technical requirements. Perform PCB peer review on layout done by co-worker according to corporate standard checklist. Occasionally will be required to support the CAD library work ,ie, building PCB footprint and Schematic symbol per IPC 7351 standard and corporate library guidelines.

Education & Experience

Master/bachelor’s degree in any Engineering disciplines. Minimum 4-8 years of relevant full time PCB Design industry experiences. PCB Design software skill particularly Mentor PADS, Router & Logic. Other PCB Design software skill can be considered. CAM software skills : CAM350(analyzing, net list verification and reproducing Gerbers) and Blueprint(drafting assembly and fabrication drawings). Work under minimum supervision and able to execute responsibilities professionally. Demonstrate maturity, initiative and decisive in making independent judgment. Strong communication skills to all level of organizations globally in oral and written form.

Skills

Good knowledge in high-speed PCB Design Technology; i.e; Micro strips, strip lines, length matching, differential pairs, micro vias, minimizing stubs, minimizing crosstalk, providing continuous return path, and fine pitch SMD components. PCB Design software skill particularly Mentor PADS, Router & Logic. Other PCB Design software skill can be considered.

**Summary**
The Manager, Hardware Design Engineering manages cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Provide support throughout the manufacturing process of the electrical/mechanical system that they have designed. #LI-LX1
**Detailed Description**
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
+ Lead a complex project PCB design, up to 56 layers, 112G.
+ Top-down (Breakdown) the PCB design from Planning to detail PCB design.
+ Supervises designers and troubleshooting and solving software problems.
+ Estimates effort accurately by PCB by project.
+ Maintain the process within the team
+ Keep the PCB team output at high quality
+ Lead planning a set of PCBs design at RFQ and planning stage, balance feasibility and cost
+ Accurate estimate PCB design effort and schedule
+ Lead peer review, manager review, and cross site review
+ Capable to lead a complex (server, storage, switch) PCB design.
+ Capable top-down the PCB design from Planning to detail PCB design.
+ Capable supervises other designers and helps to troubleshoot and solve CAD software problems.
+ Maintains PCB design integrity through updates and records of changes.
+ Be the key interface, meets with project team leaders, designers, customer and suppliers
+ The designer must be able to initiate and lead activities to improve the design process and increase the efficiency of the design tools.
+ Evaluates, recommends and tests CAD software and other programs necessary for PC design.
+ Seeks out new approaches for building internal and external relationships; maintains contacts with existing relationships.

**_Management Key Skills_**
+ Stay on top, 2 level higher of team and project;
+ Managing PCB/Library resource;
+ Oversee relevant activities and deliverables;
+ Managing the impact of change from relevant functions;
+ Develop PCB/Library team capability and successor;
+ Team work;
+ Maintain PCB design guideline and processes;
+ Breakdown and plan the complex work;
+ Familiar with SCH/PCB design tool for automation and efficiency;
+ Customer, supplier, internal teams interface, build up the relationship;
+ Project management skill;
**_Design Skill_**
+ Extensive computer and ECAD tools knowledge;
+ Cadence Allegro V17.x preferred
+ Understand electrical/mechanical/thermal constraints, select the best strategy for layout implementation.
+ Understand RF, Power, Analog is a plus;
+ Running SI/PI tools, drive the results is a plus.
+ In-depth knowledge of electronics and printed circuit board design;
+ In-depth knowledge of fabrication, assembly and test processes, including use of Valor's Enterprise tool
+ Diagnose and prioritize issues and solve design related problems.

**Physical Demands**
+ Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
+ Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
+ Occasional travel may be required.
**Typical Experience**
+ Min 5 years' direct experience in complex PCB design, 8 and plus years preferred
**Typical Education**
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
