Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day Import and Export Trade Compliance processes.
  • Certify Sudden Service is the team’s moto by delivering timely responses and work.
  • Ensure adherence to Global Import/Export regulations, including OFAC, EAR, ITAR, FCC, and other global government agencies in all activities.
  • Determine product classifications for all imported/exported products.
  • Train and communicate with all relevant departments through the Trade Compliance Ambassador program to promote compliance with global trade regulations companywide.
  • Engage with external customers in trade compliance matters as necessary.
  • Work closely with primary transportation carriers and approved brokers.
  • Preform Broker reviews and calls as necessary.
  • Support screening trade partners against denied parties lists to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate and manage projects with other areas of the business to meet trade requirements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining trade compliance policies and procedures, and standardizing
  • Initiate and coordinate training for new associates with the training department.
  • Work in conjunction with the training team to ensure training procedures and work instructions are updated and maintained as needed.
  • Oversee Corporate Compliance process audits of Trade Compliance functions.
  • Seek innovative and creative process improvement opportunities in trade compliance.

Required Experience

  • 4+ Years’ Experience in Customs & Trade Compliance, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related regulatory field.
  • Knowledge of import/export customs compliance with the ability to interpret and analyze regulations independently.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate various day-to-day activities simultaneously.
  • Must be analytically inclined.
  • Self-starter that’s able to perform duties with little supervision, willing to make decisions, and has proven leadership skills.
  • History of working with various government agencies (CBP, BIS, OFAC, etc.).
  • A history of demonstrating successful problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Possess a Growth Mind Set
  • Having a “sense of urgency” required.
  • Highly skilled in research and investigative techniques.
  • Logistics/transportation experience is an advantage.
  • Trade Certifications (LCB, CCS, CES, and/or CCLS) is an advantage.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Position Summary

Position Summary

The Trade Compliance Executive will lead and manage all aspects of trade compliance, customs coordination, and costing within our Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) framework. This role is pivotal to ensuring full regulatory compliance across import/ export activities, optimizing duty savings under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and providing accurate landed cost analysis to support business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions

LMW Compliance & Documentation

  • Manage timely and accurate LMW reporting (e.g., M1–M4), in alignment with customs requirements.
  • Maintain and update the LMW material list in collaboration with the appointed LMW officer.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Customs authorities for audits, renewals, and amendments.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal teams to ensure readiness for LMW-related inspections or regulatory submissions.

FTA & COO Administration

  • Review and assess COO eligibility under applicable APAC FTAs.
  • Ensure complete and accurate FTA documentation is maintained for duty exemption claims.
  • Keep up to date with evolving trade regulations and proactively flag potential compliance impacts.

Costing & Analytics

  • Perform landed cost analysis for imported goods and raw materials.
  • Support procurement and finance teams with accurate cost data for pricing, budgeting, and vendor evaluation.
  • Highlight potential opportunities for tariff savings, cost reduction, or process improvement.

Cross-functional & External Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison with Customs officers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to ensure smooth communication and regulatory alignment.
  • Provide real-time responses to compliance-related inquiries and requirements.
  • Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to monitor inbound/ outbound goods and manage scrap handling in accordance with compliance protocols.
  • Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and finance to maintain seamless, end-to-end supply chain compliance.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned to support trade operations and regulatory initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelors’ Degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or equivalent field.

Trade Compliance Executive

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or supply chain compliance.
  • Understanding of customs processes, COO, and import/ export regulations.
  • Analytical mindset with hands-on experience in landed cost computation.

Essential Functions

  • Proficient in ERP system, able to use Office Word, Excel, data analysis and other tools.
  • High attention to detail and well-organized approach to documentation and process governance.
  • Proficient in Outlook email.
  • Good communication and coordination skills, able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to work independently under pressure.

Other Requirements

  • Good command of English and Malay language, in both written and verbal communication.
  • Prior exposure to LMW operations and APAC FTAs is highly advantageous.

+ Manage and approve PGP and RSN requests for physical and manual shipments.
+ Administer SAP GTS, including release of blocked SO/DO, license maintenance, and controlled part number updates.
+ Maintain and deactivate export control licenses based on expiration, full utilization, or revocation.
+ Coordinate with Global Logistics Trade Compliance (GLTC) and apply for export licenses and agreements via relevant government authorities.
+ Ensure timely and accurate implementation of export approvals and technology transfer requirements.
+ Conduct export screenings such as Denied Parties Checks for vendors and partners.
**Compliance Expertise & Regulatory Oversight**
+ Act as the on-site expert for export and controlled goods regulations, including military and dual-use technologies governed under laws such as:

Qualifications And Attributes

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in global trade compliance or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures.
  • Proficiency in HTS classification, particularly in the Asian region.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • To ensure that transportation adn distribution are handled and delivered in a manner that maintains their Halal integrity. (working closely with logistics providers to ensure compliance with Halal requirements throughout the supply chain).
  • To coordinate with certification bodies, preparing necessary documentation, and managing the certification renewal process.
  • To provide training and education to employees on Halal principles, guidelines, and best practices.
  • To stay up to date with relevant Halal regulations and guidelines, both locally and internationally.
  • Responsible for continuously improving and enhancing the Physical Logistic processes and systems.

Key Experiences

  • Preferable to have basic knowledge on the Halal in Physical Logistic.
  • Experience in managing the Halal certification process, including understanding the requirements, documentation, and audits necessary for obtaining and maintaining Halal certification would be additional advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various departments and external parties.
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Fresh graduate with a degree / experiences in Halal compliance are welcome to apply.

Summary of Role

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Specialist who is well-versed in Malaysia’s import/export customs regulations as well as international trade requirements for electronic and semiconductor industry. You will partner with the Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Planning, and other internal teams to manage international logistics operations. You will coordinate directly and indirectly with local freight forwarders, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, warehouses, and third-party logistics providers to ensure smooth customs clearance and timely delivery of our outsourced electronic products. In this role, you will serve as the company’s representative or coordinate with authorized local agents when liaising with government officials on import, export, and customs compliance matters.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Manage import, export, customs clearance, warehouse and transport processes in compliance with Malaysian Customs regulations and relevant international trade requirements.
  • Liaise directly with Royal Malaysian Customs officials for customs clearance; Akademi Kastam Diraja Malaysia (AKMAL) certificate is a plus.
  • Coordinate with local freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers to arrange transportation, warehousing, and delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and process all required shipping and customs documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, permits).
  • Track shipments, resolve customs issues or delays, and provide regular status updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with our Malaysia-based EMS manufacturing partners to align shipment schedules and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Stay up to date on customs rules, tariff classifications, and duty rates; recommend process improvements to optimize cost and efficiency.

How you will stand out:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in logistics, customs clearance, and import/export operations in Malaysia; experience in the electronics/semiconductor industry is preferred.
  • Proven track record of working directly with Royal Malaysian Customs officials and local forwarders.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and HS classification.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; self-motivated with a high sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and adaptability.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with outsourced electronics manufacturers (EMS)
  • Familiarity with customs systems (e.g., MyTRA, Customs Information System)
  • Fluency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin

The APAC Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Manager is the single point of accountability for SCJ’s Trade Compliance program design, strategy, and policy in the APAC region. The GTC Manager supports the achievement of corporate business objectives and operational goals, while ensuring compliance with all legal and risk-mitigation requirements. The GTC Manager must be objective, with an ability to communicate effectively, and remain organized under demanding circumstances.

Responsibilities:
  • Be Customs Compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for APAC Region
  • Assist in augmenting an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all relevant employees.
  • Represent and respond to inquiries from Customs and other government agencies related to imports & exports.
  • Collaborate with other functions for all related import/export matters to ensure compliance.
  • Drive efficiencies and adherence to regulations to minimize risk to the organization.
  • Lead trade compliance solutions.
  • Conduct & support global and regional trade audit strategies, risk assessments and oversee corrective action implementation plans.
  • Analyze and develop compliant practices and processes; measure performance through brokerage reporting and/or monthly audit KPIs.
  • Participate in development of techniques on supply chain initiatives to ensure proper/advantageous structuring of regional transactions.
  • Work directly with brokers, being the focal point between the company and brokers / government / customs agencies / and conformity agencies from operational and tactical level, monitor their performance precisely.
  • Ensure development of Perfect Customs Entry for all countries in the region.
Requirements:
  • University degree in related field (Business Administration, International Trade, Economics or Law)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in similar Global Trade Compliance role or similar experience
  • English fluent speaker (verbal and written communication)
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations in multiple countries within the APAC regions including knowledge of customs valuation, classification under Harmonized Tariff schedule, Preferential Trade Agreements, and Supply Chain Security Systems.
  • Experience with dangerous goods compliance will be considered a competitive advantage (DG trainings such as IMDG, IATA)
  • Ability to represent the company to government/Customs officials.
  • Strong stakeholders’ management skills is an integral part of the role.
  • Implementation of business processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Must be independent and objective, with an ability to communicate effectively and stay organized under demanding circumstances.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
