The Sonographer is responsible for delivering polite, efficient, and prompt ultrasound services to patients. This role also ensures that all sonographic services are readily available to the radiologist or consultants for diagnosis and reporting.
Job Description- Implement the policies and procedures for the Diagnostic Imaging Department in liaison with management.
- Perform ultrasound scans and produce high-quality sonograms for radiologist interpretation.
- Ensure that the indication for scan has been addressed and images obtained are satisfactory to radiologist’ expectations.
- Maintain efficient day-to-day operations to ensure quality services are delivered.
- Take initiative on corrective actions in response to complaints or non-conformities and suggest improvements for service quality.
- Assist the Chief Radiographer in the maintenance and care of ultrasound equipment and related accessories.
- Support the administrative and operational activities of the department together with the Chief Radiographer.
- Assist in supervising, training, and orienting junior radiographers and support staff.
- Provide the highest standard of patient care at all times to both internal and external customers.
- Ensure tidiness, cleanness and hygienic measures to prevent cross infection in the department are maintained at all times.
- Diploma or Degree in Medical Imaging, Ultrasound or equivalent
- Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., Malaysian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in ultrasound imaging.
- Proficiency in performing a variety of ultrasound examinations (e.g., abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, small parts).
- Special Skills Required: Competency in advanced ultrasound modalities (e.g., Doppler, 3D/4D imaging) is an advantage.
- Knowledge of radiation safety and infection control practices.
