Job Description
The Operational Security Management Specialist is technically skilled to support a business-critical Secure Remote Access solution, used within our Operational Technology environment. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring the solution's availability, optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. The role involves supporting existing and new users, onboarding new remote sites, and includes troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the solution to meet the evolving needs of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end onboarding/offboarding and deployment of the Secure Remote Access solution, to identified Operational Technology sites
- Act as first response point of contact for service requests and issues.
- Input to the Secure Remote Access service incident response, change and problem management processes.
- Support management of an Azure Cloud Environment
- Contribute to Secure Remote Access Solution Knowledge Management processes
- Input to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Creation and provision of agent package deployments and user access accounts.
- Configuration of applications & appliances, adhering to end to end process and procedures.
- Leading and/or participating in upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, disaster recovery, and capacity management activities within the solution Azure cloud implementation.
- Troubleshooting Secure Remote Access solution connectivity, application, user and endpoint issues, interacting with stakeholders on bridge calls and updating Incident records in the cmdb.
- Create, review and implement Secure Remote Access solution changes, interacting with multi stakeholder groups, and updating change request records in the cmdb.
- Participate in root cause analysis, retrospective change reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake user acceptance testing for the Secure Remote Access service portal and solution deployment tools, to improve user experience and optimize workflows.
- Supporting activities related to secure offboarding of the Secure Remote Access solution
- Create and maintain internal service and end user documentation.
- Deliver internal and user knowledge bursts and answer service consumer questions related to the use of the solution.
- Familiarity with enterprise Secure Remote Access solutions
- Experience in troubleshooting communication network and application issue’s within a large enterprise hybrid network environment.
- Knowledge and application of security concepts and best practices.
- Understanding of fundamental Azure cloud concepts.
- Ability to understand firewall rules and interpret associated logs.
- System and Application administration and associated documentation creation
- Experience in supporting a business-critical application within an operational environment
- Experience of Identity and Access Management administration within a large enterprise environment

Applicants will be part of a dynamic team of specialists involved in delivering various types of training courses and auditing related to Information Security & IT Service Management, sharing knowledge and experiences against ISO 27001, ISO 2000, and BSI standards against current industry practices.
Your key responsibilities in this role will be to:
- Deliver public training courses and in-house training solutions to the BSI standards of excellence, in order to develop knowledge and skills.
- Carry out assessments of clients’ management systems to ensure that they meet the requirements of International Standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 2000, and other standards where appropriately trained.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Tutoring:
- Deliver BSI training courses in a manner that ensures value is added to customers and their business/organisation.
- Inform and update customers of BSI services to ensure their needs are met during training sessions.
- Provide delegates with information on how the training is aligned to the overall customer journey with BSI to raise customer awareness.
- Deliver excellent training courses/solutions and day-to-day interactions with customers and other key stakeholders to continually enhance the reputation and perception of BSI.
- Provide feedback to support course development in line with the new course and existing product development process.
- Assist with the design of training solutions (e.g., classroom, electronic, correspondence, mentoring, coaching) to improve the quality and range of the training offered.
- Maintain and enhance appropriate professional qualification status in relevant disciplines to keep up to date in own area of expertise.
- Proactively engage with peers and key stakeholders to ensure continual improvement, in line with the BSI standards of excellence for training delivery.
- Provide technical support to the training sales and marketing teams to enhance the growth of the training business.
Auditing:
- Undertake the assessment of clients in accordance with BSI requirements.
- Make presentations and prepare assessment reports outlining the findings of the assessment to ensure client understanding of the assessment decision and clear direction to particular items of corrective action where appropriate.
- Recommend the issue, re-issue, or withdrawal of certificates and report recommendations in accordance with BSI policy, procedures, and prescribed time frame.
- For the portfolio of clients allocated, establish and develop an effective partnership, which secures the commercial relationship and encourages opportunities for business development and increased client satisfaction.
- Provide accurate and prompt information to support services, working closely with them to ensure that client records are up to date and complete and that all other internal information requirements are met.
- In cooperation with Planning & Logistics and other operations functions, plan/schedule workloads to make best use of own time and maximize revenue-earning activity.
- Lead assessment teams as required, ensuring that team members are adequately briefed so that quality of service is maintained and that effective working relationships are sustained both with Clients and within the team.
- Support and coach colleagues as appropriate, especially where those members are inexperienced assessors or unfamiliar with clients' business/technology and assist in the induction and coaching of new colleagues as requested.

About you
To be successful in this role, you need to thrive in a process-driven, fast-paced, customer-focused environment and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an eye for detail. You will also be required to have:
- Educated to degree level in related fields or have a further education diploma with proven experience in Information Security or IT Service Management industries.
- Experience in conducting assessments and delivering courses, including ISO/IEC standards (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 2000, etc.) is essential, as is experience with related Information Security or IT Service Management industries and/or government agencies.
- Existing qualified Tutor for related schemes and accredited with HRDC would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of how a business operates to ensure appropriate interpretation of management system standards.
- Proven negotiation skills to be able to negotiate technical issues when dealing with the client organisation's management in relation to assessment findings.

In security risk management we're looking to harness the power of industry best practice combined with driving new innovation on how we do security risk assessments and modelling. Our security risk management team is the primary owner of the strategy and practices of how we identify, track and reduce our security risk across everything we do.
To support this we need to use industry best practices paired with emerging threat information to to promote risk identification, quantification, impact analysis, and modelling to ultimately drive decision making. In this role, you will help establish and execute a broad strategic vision for the security risk program at Canonical. You will not only work within the team but also cross-functionally with various teams across the organisation. The team contributes ideas and requirements for Canonical product security, improving the resilience and robustness of all Ubuntu customers and users subject to cyber attacks. Additionally, the team collaborates with our Organisational Learning and Development team to develop playbooks and facilitate security training across Canonical.
The security risk management team's mission is not only to secure Canonical, but also to contribute to the security of the wider open source ecosystem. They might share knowledge through public presentations and industry events, and share threat intelligence with the wider community or represent Canonical in sector-specific governance bodies.
What you will do in this role:
- Define Canonical's security risk management standards and playbooks
- Analyse and improve Canonical's security risk practices
- Evaluate, select and implement new security requirements, tools and practices
- Grow the presence and thought leadership of Canonical security risk management practice
- Develop Canonical security risk learning and development materials
- Work with Security leadership to present information and influence change
- Participate in developing key risk indicators, provide inputs to the development of key control indicators, and key performance indicators for various programs
- Apply statistical models to risk frameworks (such as FAIR, sensitivity analysis, and others)
- Participate in risk management, decision-making, and collaborative discussions
- Lead quantified risk assessments and understand the value of qualitative data for improvements to quality and engineering processes
- Interpret internal or external cyber security risk analyses in business terms and recommend a responsible course of action
- Develop templates and materials to help with self-service risk management actions
- Monitor and identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness of risk management processes
- Launch campaigns to perform security assessments and help mitigate security risks across the company
- Build evaluation methods and performance indicators to measure efficiency of security functions and capabilities.

- Develop, implement and ensure that our Human Security Risk Management (HSRM) program communicates, promotes and reinforces our strong security culture, policies and requirements globally across all levels of the organization.
- Ensure that our global HSRM program meets all company policies, industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements on cyber and physical security.
- Stay abreast of latest cybersecurity threats and industry trends on HSRM, continuously evolving training content to address emerging risks, compliance requirements and employee learning preferences.
- Champion a forward-thinking HSRM awareness and training strategy that not only addresses current risk but anticipates future challenges.
- Oversee the end-to-end development, execution and continuous improvement of a variety of high-quality, engaging, up-to-date and informational security awareness training materials including e-learning modules, videos, infographics, articles, newsletters, workshops, presentations, and events, etc., that are relevant to the current threat landscape and delivered on a timely basis,
- Identify key areas of human, cyber and physical security risks within the organization and develop targeted training materials to address threats.
- Lead the roll-out and management of HSRM awareness initiatives across multiple regions, ensuring cultural relevance for diverse global teams.
- Measure, monitor, and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the HSRM program and trainings through feedback, surveys, performance metrics, and analytics, making improvements as needed to ensure continuous optimization and measurable reductions in security incidents.
- Identify and provide regular reporting to senior leadership and global stakeholders, including auditors and regulators, on the top human security risks to our organization and the behaviors that need to change to mitigate risks, through clear metrics.
- Collaborate with leadership and different cross-functional global teams to ensure alignment of HSRM awareness initiatives with overall company objectives.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, relevance, successful delivery, and effectiveness of HSRM content.
- Develop and maintain HSRM awareness policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Participate in audits and assessments to meet governance and compliance requirements.
- Lead and coach team of HSRM personnel, encouraging collaboration and creativity, managing performance by setting and measuring against clear objectives that deliver to the highest quality levels and in line with applicable controls.
- As the most senior Global Security personnel at the Kuala Lumpur office, manage and mentor junior members of Global Security teams on site.
- As needed, at the direction of global leadership provide ad-hoc operational support and deployments.
Skills and Experience
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proven ability to translate security and risk to all levels of the business, using clear and concise language, and engaging and creative methods.
- Strong leadership and management skills, and ability to motivate and inspire the team.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics.
- Experience reporting to senior management on HSRM metrics, risk management, and governance.
- Proven ability to form complex ‘communications / messages’ in a simple, clear, and concise manner to the various communities within our organization. This can include different cultures, nationalities, international locations, and languages.
- Display practical knowledge of different message distribution techniques to ensure end user communities understand and continually apply the required behavioral change necessary to reduce the ‘human factors’ risk.
- Real doer/delivery oriented: making things happen. Enthusiastic and dynamic individual willing to "roll up the sleeves" and contribute to the overall objectives and deliverables of the team
- Proficient in using Learning Management Systems (LMS), and security awareness and training tools.
- Strong project management experience with proven ability to plan, manage, prioritize, communicate, and maintain multiple complex, organization-wide programs and initiatives over long term, including co-ordinating the activities of matrixed teams, in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, adept at fostering positive relationships with a variety of people in Global Security, IT, Legal compliance, HR, Corporate Communications, and other departments in the business, building trust and rapport.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Security, Education, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 8+ years of proven experience in content development, instructional design, or a similar role, preferably in IT/cyber security and/or risk management with a significant focus on security awareness and training at an enterprise scale.
- At least 7 years of management experience, managing large, complex security awareness programs.
- Strong understanding of information security and HSRM principles and frameworks.
- Certification in Information Security (e.g., CISSP, CISM) or Instructional Design (e.g., CPLP) is a plus.
- Experience in highly regulated environments, especially in the financial services industry is highly preferred.
