- Fitness to Work (FTW) Program Oversight and Medical Assessment Advisory
- The Medical Advisor shall take full responsibility for the implementation and continuous improvement of the FTW program. Tasks include:
- Review, assess, and make final decisions on Fitness to Work medical reports for the following examinations in accordance with company FTW which is at minimum, in-line with PETRONAS, and/or PTTEP guidelines:
- Pre-employment Medical Examination
- Offshore Medical Examination
- Radiation Workers Medical Examination
- Exit Medical Examination
- Return to Work Medical Examination
- Any other health assessment required by company
- Review and recommend updates to the company FTW Procedure to ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Evaluate and appoint an adequate number of Approved Medical Examiners (AMEs) in Malaysia and Thailand and ensure they are effectively informed of their responsibilities in line with current company FTW procedures.
- Maintain open and continuous communication with all company AMEs, particularly for Offshore Safety Passport (OSP) approvals, to ensure that medical assessments are consistent with company standards.
- Review and validate medical reports, including the authority to request further information, additional tests, or override AME decisions if necessary for the purpose of OSP approval.
- Health Consultation and Medical Advisory
- Provide advice and consultation on medical issues faced by company employees and contractors, including expatriates requiring special or controlled medication unavailable in Malaysia.
- Support and advise on medical referrals on a case-by-case basis.
- Provide updates and guidance on emerging or ongoing public health matters, including but not limited to outbreaks, pandemic preparedness, and occupational disease trends.
- Support and conduct health talks, awareness campaigns, and wellness programs as required by company.
- Medical Surveillance and Program Evaluation
- Review results of health surveillance programs, identify areas of concern, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders for corrective action.
- Ensure that all health surveillance and medical assessment programs are designed and implemented satisfactorily and remain fit for purpose.
- Support on-site health assessment and health campaign activities when required.
- Representation and Coordination with Authorities
- Represent company in meetings with relevant government bodies and health authorities, either independently or in conjunction with the company HSE team.
- Medical Testing and Facility Evaluation
- Coordinate and arrange for medical examinations to be conducted at any approved company AME clinics in Malaysia or Thailand.
- Conduct and manage on-site Drug and Alcohol Testing at company worksites.
- Conduct and manage on-site Medical Facility Assessments to ensure adequacy and compliance with company standards.
