Renesas is hiring a **Staff Test Engineer** for the **System Attach PMIC (SAP)** business unit to lead new product test development from concept to high-volume production. This role works closely with design and applications teams to define test modes, execute characterization, and ensure products meet Renesas' quality standards. You will be involved throughout the NPI process - feasibility, DFT, hardware design, device bring-up, ATE characterization, and production release - while driving improvements in efficiency, yield, and cost.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Test development for power management: ATE platform selection, design for test (DFT) implementation, test plan development, ATE hardware design, and delivering robust & cost-effective test solutions
+ Collaborating with other local and worldwide functional teams to align test strategies with overall business and quality objectives
+ Ensuring test solutions meet coverage requirements and are robust in production
+ Analyzing ATE test results using statistical analysis applications to help improve repeatability and stability
+ Providing overall planning support for test development projects, including setting development timelines, budgets, expected test times and keeping projects on schedule
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer engineering or Computer science.
+ 8+ years of strong experience in ATE test development for analog, digital and mixed signal on ETS364. 93k,Micorflex and ETS800 a plus.
+ Experience in programming such as C++, basic, Perl, python, etc.
+ Experience in testing and collecting data on IC chips or circuits using standard tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
+ Experience with data analysis and GR&R methodology. JMP application knowledge is a plus.
+ Proficient with ATE analog/digital instruments, PCB layout parasitic reduction, and strong debug/troubleshooting experience
+ Hands-on experience in debugging analog products with serial bus interfaces
+ Travel 0-10%
+ Must be able to work onsite at Kulim, Kedah.

Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer to support our contract manufacturing partners across multiple sites in Penang. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in debugging, yield improvement, and resolving design issues to ensure high-quality products and continuous process optimisation. This role requires onsite support at manufacturing locations, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to drive improvements in test performance and product reliability.
+ Provide onsite test engineering support at contract manufacturing sites in Penang.
+ Debug and analyze test failures, yield issues, and product design issues to drive continuous improvements.
+ Collaborate with design, process, quality, supply line, and hardware engineering teams to resolve product and test-related issues.
+ Lead and work with contract manufacturers to identify and implement corrective actions for process deviations.
+ Monitor and analyze yield trends, test metrics, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) data, and failure patterns to proactively address potential risks.
+ Support new product introduction (NPI) transfer, part qualification work, and software qualification work at manufacturing sites.
+ Train and support contract manufacturing teams in debugging methodologies, test procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
+ Initiate meetings and work closely with the USA/Costa Rica engineering team on technical issues.
+ Maintain test procedures, create ECNs or deviations for design changes.

+ Bachelor's or Master's degree and 6+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
+ Strong expertise in test failure analysis, debugging, and root cause identification.
+ Excellent in digital/analog circuit theory and knowledge.
+ Experience with automated test equipment (ATE), board-level test systems, and ICT/functional testers.
+ Knowledge of statistical analysis, data mining tools, and yield improvement methodologies.
+ Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
+ Familiarity with PCB design, power electronics, PCIE or semiconductor test processes is a plus.
+ Software programming experience and knowledge of Teradyne SOC/ETS system is a plus.
+ Great communication skills in English, both written and oral, are required.
+ Eagerness to learn new things, strong self-discipline, and motivation skills.
+ Be able to work independently and have leadership skills.
+ Willingness to travel frequently between Penang manufacturing sites and other Teradyne sites for training purposes if necessary.

Test Engineers have the opportunity to develop and implement **Automated Test Platforms** , integrating both **Hardware** and **Software** , which are consistent with a high mix, low volume, high tech and high quality operation.
**In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:**
+ Work and interact with a wide variety of NI staff in R&D software and hardware organizations, as well as employees from other business groups, both in Austin, Texas and in Debrecen, Hungary
+ Perform research as required to develop or enhance your test solutions.
+ Specify, design, test, and deploy automated test solutions for the manufacture of computer-based instruments
+ Define and implement project plans, manage milestones and hold required reviews to assure test system readiness for product release.
+ Integrate hardware and software to fully support manufacturing test for existing and new products using both traditional and computer-based instruments.
+ Utilize programming skills to develop test applications running on desktop and industrial PC's
+ Review and approve product specifications and customer user documentation for the product.
+ Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge within the company
