We are looking for an experienced Tax expert to join our dynamic finance division in the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Singapore and Malaysia Tax direct and indirect tax compliance and planning. This role involves overseeing the tax within Great Eastern Group of Companies, driving operational excellence and ensuring compliance to Tax and regulatory requirements.
- Tax Compliance
To manage, review and working with tax agents for the Malaysia and Singapore entities within Great Eastern Group of Companies on direct and indirect tax computation and submission to tax authorities on timely basis.
- Tax Planning
To evaluate and perform tax planning/analysis to optimise tax efficiency for the Companies based on group wide initiatives and strategies
- Tax Reporting
To review the monthly tax provision (include deferred tax) and all tax disclosure notes in financial reports ensuring compliance with MFRS 112 Income Taxes requirements
- Accounting and control
To manage and review the accounting and reporting in accordance with accounting standard.
-Company’s fixed assets, Property, Leases
-Intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and settlements
-Accruals for management expense (ME).
- Productivity & Efficiency Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance productivity and operational efficiency in Tax team. Implement process improvements and best practices to optimize workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Audit & Compliance Management:
Manage internal and external audit processes for Tax team, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and corporate policies. Prepare audit documentation, address audit findings, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Lead and develop a team of Tax professionals, setting performance targets and ensuring continuous development. Allocate and manage resources efficiently, including budgets and personnel, to support business objectives and project success.
- Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
- Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
- Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
We are looking for people who
- Tertiary qualification or full qualification in Accounting (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, MICPA, ICAEW)
- 7-8 years of working experience in Tax, Finance and Accounting related field
- Proficient with Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Sales, Service Tax Acts.
- Proficient with guidelines issued by tax authorities i.e. LHDN
- Familiar with BEPS Pillar 2 Rules
- Proficient with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) i.e. MFRS 112 Income Taxes MFRS 9 Financial Instruments, MFRS 17 Insurance Contracts,
- Familiar with regulatory guidelines i.e. BNM, LIAM guidelines for insurance industry
- Conversant with standard Personal Computer Software such as Microsoft Office
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
- Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.

We are currently seeking a Financial Analysis Senior Specialist to join our team in Fully Remote - Malaysia, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (MY-14), Malaysia (MY).
Financial Analysts gather and analyze financial data to facilitate decision-making and provide guidance to managers within the business. They make financial recommendations based on the data they have gathered and analysed. This includes information regarding past company performance against set metrics and cost management.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Extract data from financial reports to conduct financial and statistical analysis and identify financial discrepancies and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Contribute to the monitoring and controlling of expenditure by approving or denying requisitions based on whether the items are within budget.
- Prepare a variety of financial reports based on the analysis results.
- Conduct presentations related to findings and provide recommendations to the relevant internal stakeholders.
- Research and analyze costs of projects, departments, and future ventures to provide information and insights about expenses and determine profitability margins.
- Conduct budget and expense analysis and report on variances ensuring that the projected budget is met and assisting with cost reduction initiatives.
- Reconcile and review monthly account analysis for balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure budget & forecast variances are analysed and recommendations are made to correct or improve company performance.
- Assist with input into the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Ensure key pieces of analysis are performed on areas of risk or opportunity within the business and that the financial levers are understood and communicated to the business together with clear recommendations.
- Continuously review business initiatives to ensure that they meet the required profitability expectations.
- Identify cost management opportunities (processes or expenses) for ensuring improved profitability and sustainable returns for the business.
Required Experience:
- Degree in Finance / Commerce
- At least 5 years in financial planning and analysis and business analysis within a multinational company
- Comprehensive finance experience in a similar position in a related environment
- Experience with accounting software
Supporting Region:
- Australia – Will follow Malaysia working hours. May required to support Australia working hours if there’s urgent deliverables.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

Back up all files as part of the disaster recovery plan.
· Ensure preparation and distribution of required financial and accounting reports, including management information, in a timely manner. Ensure that all reporting deadlines are consistently met.
