Role Summary:


The Field Service Technician installs, commissions, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs Flowserve’s pumps, seals, and other equipment across industries such as oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and wastewater industries, depending on the customer engagement.


In this challenging position the Field Service Technician (FST) provides real-time technical support to our customers, and provides recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment. The FST is actively engaged in troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions onsite at nearby customer facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Make direct, in-person service calls in response to customer requests.
  • Assess mechanical problems and take actions to resolve promptly.
  • Oversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
  • Ensure that equipment is installed successfully and on schedule.
  • Check equipment prior to start-up and assess start-up performance.
  • Monitor the maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.
  • Train customers in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining Flowserve products.
  • Maintain and submit organized, accurate records, including daily reports, jobs quoted, jobs performed, and time and materials charged.

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma / GED and / or 0-2 years relevant experience / Professional certificates.
  • Knowledgeable about the industrial applications and operations of pumps, valves, seals, actuators, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with repairing pump equipment, installing mechanical seals, changing seal faces/gaskets/O rings.
  • Proven ability to correctly read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics
  • Capable in Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Able to travel, including globally, for extended periods of time
  • Able to work overtime as required to minimize impact to customers
  • Physical activity is required, including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds / 25kg, ascending/descending ladders and staircases, and climbing and reaching in, under, and around large equipment, often outside year-round.

Job Description


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Perform timely and accurate preventative maintenance, installations, Field Modification Instructions (FMI) and troubleshooting on medical equipment within a hospital or healthcare system to ensure optimal delivery of healthcare services to patients.
  2. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and hospital protocols, to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met; ensure documentation of all work performed is captured, including the ordering of parts.
  3. Acts as the primary GEHC Services face to the customer. Responsible for meeting the daily service repair needs of designated equipment and drives customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.
  4. Maintain all models of Imaging Modality.
  5. Perform total system level troubleshooting on complex multi-symptom issues.
  6. Maintain daily interface with doctors and technicians on equipment status issues, to ensure satisfaction of primary customers.
  7. Assist in Account Sales visits, help train others where necessary, and identify Sales opportunities and communicate them to account team.
  8. Responsible for Warranty and Preventive Maintenance Service contract cost control.
  9. Complete all administration tasks on time (e.g., ensure timely completion of FMI and Preventive Maintenance Service inspections documentation for assigned accounts).
  10. Maintain effective quality systems and programs compliant with ISO 9001 standard, according to the GE Service Quality Policy Statement.

  1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
  2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
  3. Identify and report all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
  4. Identify and report any personal quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
  5. Ensure timely dispatch closure.
  6. Ensure completion of all field modifications instructions (FMI’s) within prescribed timeframe (if applicable).
  7. Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.
  8. Ability to show self-initiative & motivation and to work independently with minimum direction.
  9. Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering / Electrical & Electronic.
  2. Technical and analytical skills, with minimum 3-year field services experience.
  3. Good verbal and written communication skills in local language as well as English.
  4. Ability to work independently with minimum direction.
  5. Able to lead project installation independently.
  6. Shows Initiative and motivation.
  7. Plans and organizes work effectively.
  8. Excellent communication skills, listening skills, and interpersonal skills.
  9. Willingness to work during off-hours when there is an urgent and critical equipment issue. This will be balanced among the service team members.
  10. Strong customer skills and deals tactfully and effectively with differences of opinion (e.g. influences rather than directs).

Overview

The Field Service Engineer perform routine customer support activities involving the installation, modification, upgrade, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex equipment and systems to ensure proper working order. This role is responsible to install new system, warranty support, on-site service includes mentoring customers in the operation, maintenance of the system, and recommending continuous improvement. The successful candidate has the ability to work under general instruction with following established policies and procedures to ensure company and customer quality standards are met. In addition, this person will work on problems of moderate scope and demonstrates judgment within a defined procedures and practices with minimum supervision to determine appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, upgrade, repair and perform preventive maintenance procedure on equipment and systems following SOP policies, procedures and work direction of supervisor or site lead.
  • Train customer personnel in equipment operation.
  • Interface with customer, Technical Service Support, and factory to ensure customer satisfaction with equipment and service levels.
  • Conform at all times to Veeco and customer’s safety, cleanliness, and working protocol policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Prepare SARs, and other reports as required in a timely and efficient manner.
  • React to change productively and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend seminars/conferences on pertinent topics to increase the Veeco knowledge base of standards or innovative ideas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in electronics, physics, robotics; material science and engineering; mechanical engineering or related field with minimum two years’ experience preferably in solvent cleaning or photolithography equipment technology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Reading and writing fluency in English
  • Ability and willing to travel frequently out of home base
