Position : Environmental Advisor
Industry : Oil & Gas
Location : Kuala Lumpur
Purpose:
The Environmental Advisor supports HSE Manager in implementing the environmental and sustainable development programs and initiatives for Exploration, Drilling and Development activities.
Scope of Works:
- Focal point of the Environmental, Sustainable Development, Water, Biodiversity, GHG and Climate Change programs and OGMP 2.0 initiatives.
- Advice Drilling, Exploration, Capital Project team and Development team on environmental aspects.
- Coordinate Environmental Risk/Impact Assessment and follow up corrective actions into closure.
- Coordinate Oil Spill Contingency Plan development and oil spill modelling.
- Coordinate Scheduled Waste Management at rig sites, onshore supply base and contractors facilities.
- Integrate and implement DOE Guided Self-Regulations requirements into COP HSEMS.
- Train COP Personnel and Contractors on Environmental and Sustainable Development requirements and initiatives.
- Facilitate Environmental Audits, Verification and Review.
- Ensure all environmental and regulatory guidelines are followed
- Coordinate environmental matric reporting to corporate, MPM and government.
- Review and revise environmental-related policies, plans, procedures and practices within Business Unit
- Represent BU in MPM and ConocoPhillips environmental-related workgroup Joint Environment Workgroup, Environmental & Sustainable Development Steering Committee, Water / Biodiversity / Climate Change Working Group and OGMP 2.0.
- Support HSE Lead in the development and implementation of HSEMS and its processes as and when required.
Minimum Requirement(s):
- Degree, preferably in Environment / Engineering / Science
- 10 years environment and sustainable development experience in upstream oil & gas industries.
- Registered Scheduled Waste Manager with DOE
- Fit to travel offshore

Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer. As an engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for certifying internal product compliance and collecting data from suppliers on the status of Keysight parts with respect to the European Union’s Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulation.
- Analyzing Engineering Bills of Materials (BoMs) and identifying parts that require RoHS compliance status in the system.
- Triggering Material Declaration Requests (MDRs) to manufacturers or authorized Material Compliance Data Providers for RoHS data collection.
- Managing material compliance data from manufacturers, third-party data providers, or Keysight Design/Material Engineers.
- Initiating GSE supplier communication to Keysight suppliers for annual changes and collecting acknowledgments.
- Initiating Supplier Compliance communication to Keysight suppliers and collecting acknowledgments to ensure compliance with Keysight requirements.
- Initiating supplier compliance verification with Keysight suppliers to verify how they comply with Keysight requirements.
A successful candidate should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Supplier Engineering, or a related Procurement environment, or an equivalent qualification
- Typically 2-4 years of relevant experience in Procurement
- The ability to read and understand Bills of Materials (BoMs)
- Proficiency in Excel (e.g., using formulas, manipulating multiple worksheets, formatting data, creating graphs, etc.)
- The ability to meet schedules and deadlines

Job Description
- Lead and support environmental aspect of environmental and social (E&S) feasibility studies for energy sector projects (natural gas, LNG to Power, biomass, Waste to Energy, wind, solar, hybrid, etc.) and potential other sectors e.g. infrastructure.
- Lead and support environmental and social due diligence studies for energy sector projects and potential other sectors.
- Lead and support as lenders environmental and social advisor during the construction and operation of energy sector projects and potential other sectors, including supporting consultations with Project Affected Persons and other stakeholders in Malaysia.
- Perform the role as Project Manager for Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and the development E&S Management Plans. Provide guidance on environmental matters, including regulatory E&S requirements during the ESIA process.
- Support Clients to develop and implement Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS).
- Contribute to business development by providing strategic advice on environmental and social issues to existing and potential clients, including the preparation of marketing material.
- Preparation of proposals (technical and financial) for environmental social services.
- Support other AFRY E&S staff in the region and contribute to work outside of the region when opportunities arise.
- Enforce ethics and compliance in accordance with AFRY Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
- Higher professional degree in environmental science, engineering or related field (B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D.).
- 8+ years’ experience in environmental consulting / management.
- Experience in the preparation of ESIAs and E&S Management Plans for renewable and thermal power projects.
- Experience in performing Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for renewable and thermal power projects.
- Track record of project managing environmental and social services for renewable and thermal power projects.
- Knowledge of potential social issues i.e. labor issues, resettlement and livelihood issues would be an advantage, including experience in undertaking stakeholder engagement activities.
- Knowledge of Malaysian regulatory E&S requirements and international E&S standards and guidelines i.e. Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, WBG EHS Guidelines, ADB Safeguards etc.
- The willingness to travel to other countries inside and outside the region to support environmental and social services.
- Fluency in Malay and English.
- Excellent report writing, presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with people from a range of cultures.
- Ability to work independently.
