About the Role
Part of Enterprise Risk Management Department which works as a second line of defense in partnership with the business (as first line of defense) to coordinate the risk management process throughout AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd. and its related group of companies to ensure all element of risks including Shariah-related) are properly identified, assessed, mitigated and reported in line with the BNM Guidelines as well as AIA policies requirements.This position also responsible for the evolvement of the risk management framework, integration of risk management into business and provision of assurance to stakeholders, with primary focus on financial risk as well as opportunities to widen exposure to cover operational risk including Shariah-related. The individual in this position will require a thorough understanding of the business and be involved in cross-functional interactions with various business functions.Roles and Responsibilities:
Evolve the Risk Management Framework
- Review the Risk Management Framework and other risk management related policies and procedures, with considerations for local regulatory (Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and/or Securities Commission) expectations and feedback from Management, Shariah Committee and Board of Directors (Board).
- Review the Risk Appetite – this includes risk tolerances and risk limits and ensuring effective monitoring with the establishment of appropriate key risk indicators (KRIs) and thresholds.
- Manage the implementation of risk management process throughout AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd. according to the Board approved risk methodology. This includes working consultatively with all business functions to ensure all elements of risks (including emerging risk arising from changes in the business and economic landscape) are properly identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported; controls are assessed for adequacy and appropriateness with action plans developed on a timely basis where necessary and executed accordingly.
Integrate Risk Management into Business through Business Engagement
- Promote a positive and strong risk and ethics culture which is integrated and aligned with business to encourage discussion on risk matters and embed risk assessment process into the decision-making process.
- Provide support to Management on risk management issues relating to their areas of responsibility, which includes the provision of analytical insights and holistic value-adding independent advice to enhance broader risk-informed decision making, as well as consultative discussions in the resolution of potential risks and issues.
- Coordinate risk management related education and awareness for all employees on a regular basis.
Provide Stakeholder Assurance
- Conduct independent review and provide constructive feedback on the Independent Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), stress testing exercises, product risk assessments, Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) review exercise, investment-related initiatives, liquidity adequacy assessment, climate-related risks and etc.
- Prepare and present risk management reports on timely basis highlighting risks, mitigating controls and action owners.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Degree in related field including Actuarial Science and Financial Risk Management, with 5 years + relevant work experience in the financial industry handling actuarial, risk management and/or internal audit
- In-depth understanding of Insurance/ Takaful business preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of actuarial and/ or financial risk management practices
- Understanding of insurance business management or audit/ consulting for Financial Institutions.
- Good knowledge on process flows and control points
- Team player and passionate in learning
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and self-motivated.
- Good written and spoken communication skills in English and local language.
- Independent and be able to work under pressure
- Be organized, detail-oriented and analytical
- Possess leadership, coaching and influencing skills; business acumen; problem solving skills
- High level of integrity and take ownership and accountability of results

Manage, implement, and enforce the risk management framework and processes to ensure functions within Axiata adequately adhere and adopt the framework, to ensure timely identification, evaluation and reporting of calibrated risks at the Board and management committees.
This role will require regular collaboration with multiple departments and stakeholders, including the Operating Company (“OpCo”) Heads of ERM, the Group Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”), Group Risk & Compliance Management Committee (“RCMC”) and the Group Board Risk & Compliance Committee (“BRCC”). You will have the authority to request and review the risks from functional heads, assist in developing and improving the risk management program and shaping the ERM 3-year strategy.
Additionally, you will be required to drive and support annual ERM Business Planning (“BP”) and Long-Range Planning (“LRP”) and support the Head of ERM in group-wideprojects and initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
Support the Head of ERM in providing strategic direction, coordinating and driving therisk management program and ensuring alignment between the risk objectives and strategic priorities of the Group.
Promote and instill a risk-centric culture across the Group by embedding risk management as part of the organization’s decision-making process.
Shape, build and drive high-quality risk management processes and frameworks across the organisation and create insightful and actionable reporting and feedback to the various risk officers.
Build trusting relationships with all stakeholders (BRCC, SLT, OpCo Risk Officers, regulators, analysts, and industry bodies) by being a value-driven leader and strategic business partner.
Facilitate the risk management process for projects such as M&A, ABAC, ESG, TCFD, and other projects as instructed by the management. And work with the project team to put in place the necessary safeguards and protection to cover risks that have been identified.
Implement a robust process to follow up management's agreed actions to address issues raised by RCMC, BRCC, and the Internal and External Audit functions.
Develop and maintain the Statement of Risk Management (“SORMIC”) in line with Axiata framework and regulatory requirements ensuring quality and timeliness of the process.
BRCC& RCMC Secretariat Role
Support the Group Risk & Compliance Officer and Head of ERM in their Secretariat roles in ensuring efficient and effective riskcommittee operations.
Assist with developing risk committee presentation decks, agendas, meeting minutes, and action items at the defined schedule.
Review Board papers fromthe OpCos.
Keep up to date on current global and emerging risks to challenge and drive effective risk discussions at risk committees.
Coordinate and facilitate risk committee meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on action items and ongoing communication with committee members.
Awareness and Culture
Review and maintain the corporate awareness instruments and engagements on Risk Management (e.g.: Training modules, newsletter, workshops, etc.)
Review and update mandatory training content by engaging SMEs for relevant content and including emerging risks to develop a risk aware culture.
Support the Risk & Compliance division in organizing and executing the cyclic plenary conferences in an engaging, relevant, and exciting format.
Support digitation of the risk management process to enable the move from quarterly risk reporting to identifying, reporting, and managing risk on a real-time basis across the Group.
Develop visualisation and dashboard using Power BI or other digital technologies.
Automate repeatable processes to enhance overall risk maturity and increase productivity and effectiveness.

To promote information sharing and a “Collective Brain” approach to ensure smarter and effective collaboration with cross functional.
Drive a progressive Risk culture that enables and supports overall Axiata's Winning culture.

Efficient and productive running of RCMC & BRCC meetings.
Job requirement

About The Role
Support role in Enterprise Risk Management Department which works as a second line of defense in partnership with the business (as first line of defense) to coordinate the risk management process throughout AIA Bhd. and its related group of companies to ensure all element of risks are properly identified, assessed, mitigated and reported in line with the BNM Guidelines as well as AIA policies requirements.
This position works closely with the members of the Risk Committees i.e. mainly Executive Committee as well as Head of Departments by monitoring and reporting risk related matters with focus on operational risk.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining the overall operational risk program to ensure the company’s interests are adequately protected and within the risk appetite approved by Board.
The individual in this position is responsible for identifying, evaluating and reporting on operational risks in a manner that meets regulatory, group, management and other compliance requirements. The individual works proactively with the various business units and other internal departments and organizations to implement practices that meet the regulatory, Group’s and Company’s defined guidelines, risk policies, standards and/ or procedures.
- Risk Management Framework, Policies and Procedures and system
- Support coordinating in the implementation of risk management process throughout AIA Bhd. and related companies as required according to the Board approved risk methodology.
- Support rolling down the Risk Management Framework/ Policy and related risk policies from group as well as establishing relevant risk policies and procedures to meet local regulatory requirements. This includes review on a periodic basis to ensure continued relevance and appropriateness, as well as updating as necessary the relevant risk policies, incorporating feedback of Board and Management - this includes establishment of risk appetite, risk limits and review of the existing key risk indicators (KRI) and thresholds.
- Works closely with all business functions to ensure all elements of operational and strategic risks are properly identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported by implementing the Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) program at AIA Bhd, and related companies as required. Entails assisting EXCO and respective Head of Department (HOD) to identify key operational risks in their respective areas. Subsequently, assist them to analyze and assess their risk in light of the AIA approved risk methodology. Thereafter to ensure that appropriate controls are in place and risks are managed within the approved risk appetite framework, covering control testing.
- Ensuring all incidents (including interpretation and roll down of relevant requirements) are captured and reported on a timely, accurate and complete basis to BNM, Group and/ or management, as well as to work with respective functions on root cause analysis with a view to prevent/ reduce recurrence and/ or impact of any similar incidents.
- Ensuring all Key Risk Indicators (KRI) required for reporting to BNM are accurate and timely. Supporting EXCO and HOD, to establish key risk metrics for monitoring as well as assessment of trends for any potential areas of concern. Such assessments should be tabled to the appropriate forums/ persons so that timely actions could be taken, noted and/ or key risks mitigated to the appropriate level.
- Reporting and deliverables for Boards, Risk Committees, Regulators, Group and Management
- Prepare/ complete all relevant materials/ papers on timely basis highlighting key risks, mitigating controls and action owner for EXCO, Group, respective local Risk Management Committees, Board Risk Committees and/or Board.
- Monitor and ensure the execution of relevant action plans which includes materials prior and post meeting, logistics, minutes and matters arising as directed by the respective local Risk Management Committees, Board Risk Committees and/or Board within agreed timeline and acceptable standard of quality.
- Conducting Regulatory as well as internal (local and Group) review and reporting, including but not limited to the below:
- Embedding risk management
- Creating a positive risk-based culture, where a robust risk assessment process is embedded that business units implement proactively and on an integrated basis.
- Embedding Integrated Risk Management, equipping and enabling risk owners to discharge their duties.
- Coordinate risk management education and awareness to educate all employees on risk management process on a continuous and regular basis;
- Providing risk assessment support for strategic/ business initiatives and products as well as relevant project management, outsourcing arrangements and investments
Ensuring the requirements stated in all relevant guidelines relating to risk management are in place, including submission of relevant reports by stipulated timelines. Responsible for ensuring the required deliverables for the board level and management level risk committees as well as Group reporting are available on timely basis and of quality. This includes follow up on matters brought up by the risk committees. Monthly incident management reporting to Senior Management where necessary
Able to verbally and in written form articulate and communicate well with all levels of staff including Group Risk and Local Management, regulators and auditors.
Able to articulate and communicate with stakeholders, business partners, regulators and other government bodies, in a clear and concise manner.
- Degree in related field including Risk Management, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, IT or Business with 8-15 years relevant work experience in the financial industry handling risk management, internal audit, compliance and/ or controls
- In-depth understanding of the Insurance/ Takaful business preferred and, in lieu of insurance, financial services.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and self-motivated.
- Good written and spoken communication skills in English and local language.

Job Context
Manage, implement, and enforce the risk management framework and processes to ensure functions within Axiata are aware of the process and adopt the framework to ensure timely identification, evaluation and reporting of calibrated risks at the Risk & Compliance Management Committee (RMC) and Board Risk & Compliance Committee (BRCC) in a clear and comprehensive manner.
This role will require regularly collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders, including the OpCo Head of ERM, the Group Senior Leadership Team (SLT), RMC and the Group BRCC. You will have the authority to request and review the risks from functional heads, assist in developing and improving the risk management program and shaping the ERM 3-year strategy.
Additionally, you will be required to drive and support annual ERM Business Planning (BP) and Long-Range Planning (LRP) and independently lead projects/initiatives to enhance overall Group-wide risk management capabilities.
Main Responsibilities
Support the Head of ERM in providing strategic direction, coordinating and driving a strong strategic approach to risk management by ensuring the alignment between the risk objectives and the business strategies of the Group.
Promote and instill a risk-centric culture across the Group by embedding risk management as part of the organization’s decision-making process.
Shape, build and drive high-quality risk management processes and frameworks across the organisation and create insightful and actionable reporting and feedback to the various risk officers.
Build trusting relationships with all stakeholders (Board Risk & Compliance Committee, SLT, OpCo Risk Officers, regulators, analysts, and industry bodies) by being a values-driven leader and strategic business partner.
Maintain an open and constructive relationship as a Trusted Advisor with senior internal and external stakeholders, including External Audit, Business Executives and relevant Risk Agencies.
Facilitate the risk management process for projects such as M&A, ABAC, ESG, TCFD, and other projects as instructed by the management. And work with the project team to put in place the necessary safeguards and protection to cover risks that have been identified.
Report on the overall effectiveness of the governance, risk and internal control framework of the Group.
Implement a robust process to follow up management's agreed actions to address issues raised by RCMC, BRCC, and the Internal and External Audit functions.
Managing SORMIC
Develop and maintain the Statement of Risk Management (SORMIC) in line with Axiata framework and regulatory requirements ensuring quality and timeliness of the process.
Ensure that all risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively, including the development and execution of risk mitigation plans.
Integrate strategic alignment of Risk Management, SORMIC, Corporate Insurance and the IAR process to ensure the annual board and public reports are aligned and integrated.
Group InsuranceDevelop, implement, and maintain the company's group insurance program, ensuring adequate coverage and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with insurance brokers and underwriters to negotiate policy terms, premiums, and claims.
Monitor the performance of insurance providers, ensuring they meet the company's expectations and standards.
Partner with Group Procurement to appoint and manage the insurance broker.
Lead the engagement with relevant BU and Opcos to gather pre-insurance data gathering across the Group.
Work with relevant BU and Opcos for the end-to-end process for Insurance Management.
Support to the RCMC & BRCC
Support the Risk & Compliance Management Committee (RCMC) and the Board Risk & Compliance Committee (BRCC), ensuring efficient and effective committee operations.
Assist with developing and maintaining RCMC & BRCC presentation decks, including agendas, minutes, and action items at the defined schedule.
Support the Risk Management process in reviewing Board papers from across the OpCos.
Coordinate and facilitate the Risk Management functions like FRR, KER, Risk Forum.
Keep up to date on current global and emerging risks to challenge and drive effective risk discussions at the risk committees.
Coordinate and facilitate RCMC & BRCC meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on action items and ongoing communication with committee members.
Coordinate and compile the finalized decks and material and distribute the material on schedule for the committee’s pre-read.
After the committee meeting, prepare the committee report to the Board.
Maintain the central repository of the papers & final check for quality assurance.
Awareness and CultureReview and maintain the corporate awareness instruments and engagements on Risk Management (e.g.: Training modules, newsletter, workshops, etc.)
Review and update mandatory training content by engaging SMEs for relevant content and including emerging risks to develop a risk aware culture.
Support the R&C division in organizing and executing the cyclic plenary conferences in an engaging, relevant, and exciting format.
Support digitation of the risk management process to enable the move from quarterly risk reporting to identifying, reporting, and managing risk on a real-time basis across the Group.
Develop visualisation and dashboard using Power BI or other digital technologies.
Automate repeatable processes to enhance overall risk maturity and increase productivity and effectiveness.

About The Role
Support role in Enterprise Risk Management Department which works as a second line of defense in partnership with the business (as first line of defense) to coordinate the risk management process throughout AIA Bhd. and its related group of companies to ensure all element of risks are properly identified, assessed, mitigated and reported in line with the BNM Guidelines as well as AIA policies requirements.
This position works closely with the members of the Risk Committees i.e. mainly Executive Committee as well as Head of Departments by monitoring and reporting risk related matters with focus on operational risk.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining the overall operational risk program to ensure the company’s interests are adequately protected and within the risk appetite approved by Board.
The individual in this position is responsible for identifying, evaluating and reporting on operational risks in a manner that meets regulatory, group, management and other compliance requirements. The individual works proactively with the various business units and other internal departments and organizations to implement practices that meet the regulatory, Group’s and Company’s defined guidelines, risk policies, standards and/ or procedures.
Risk Management Framework, Policies and Procedures and system Support coordinating in the implementation of risk management process throughout AIA Bhd. and related companies as required according to the Board approved risk methodology. Support rolling down the Risk Management Framework/ Policy and related risk policies from group as well as establishing relevant risk policies and procedures to meet local regulatory requirements. This includes review on a periodic basis to ensure continued relevance and appropriateness, as well as updating as necessary the relevant risk policies, incorporating feedback of Board and Management - this includes establishment of risk appetite, risk limits and review of the existing key risk indicators (KRI) and thresholds. Works closely with all business functions to ensure all elements of operational and strategic risks are properly identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported by implementing the Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) program at AIA Bhd, and related companies as required. Axiata Manage, implement, and enforce the risk management framework and processes to ensure functions within Axiata adequately adhere and adopt the framework, to ensure timely identification, evaluation and reporting of calibrated risks at the Board and management committees. This role will require regular collaboration with multiple departments and stakeholders, including the Operating Company (“OpCo”) Heads of ERM, the Group Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”), Group Risk & Compliance Management Committee (“RCMC”) and the Group Board Risk & Compliance Committee (“BRCC”). You will have the authority to request and review the risks from functional heads, assist in developing and improving the risk management program and shaping the ERM 3-year strategy. Additionally, you will be required to drive and support annual ERM Business Planning (“BP”) and Long-Range Planning (“LRP”) and support the Head of ERM in group-wideprojects and initiatives. Main Responsibilities Support the Head of ERM in providing strategic direction, coordinating and driving therisk management program and ensuring alignment between the risk objectives and strategic priorities of the Group. Promote and instill a risk-centric culture across the Group by embedding risk management as part of the organization’s decision-making process. Shape, build and drive high-quality risk management processes and frameworks across the organisation and create insightful and actionable reporting and feedback to the various risk officers. Build trusting relationships with all stakeholders (BRCC, SLT, OpCo Risk Officers, regulators, analysts, and industry bodies) by being a value-driven leader and strategic business partner. Facilitate the risk management process for projects such as M&A, ABAC, ESG, TCFD, and other projects as instructed by the management. And work with the project team to put in place the necessary safeguards and protection to cover risks that have been identified. Implement a robust process to follow up management's agreed actions to address issues raised by RCMC, BRCC, and the Internal and External Audit functions. Develop and maintain the Statement of Risk Management (“SORMIC”) in line with Axiata framework and regulatory requirements ensuring quality and timeliness of the process. BRCC& RCMC Secretariat Role Support the Group Risk & Compliance Officer and Head of ERM in their Secretariat roles in ensuring efficient and effective riskcommittee operations. Assist with developing risk committee presentation decks, agendas, meeting minutes, and action items at the defined schedule. Review Board papers fromthe OpCos. Keep up to date on current global and emerging risks to challenge and drive effective risk discussions at risk committees. Coordinate and facilitate risk committee meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on action items and ongoing communication with committee members. Awareness and Culture Review and maintain the corporate awareness instruments and engagements on Risk Management (e.g.: Training modules, newsletter, workshops, etc.) Review and update mandatory training content by engaging SMEs for relevant content and including emerging risks to develop a risk aware culture. Support the Risk & Compliance division in organizing and executing the cyclic plenary conferences in an engaging, relevant, and exciting format. Support digitation of the risk management process to enable the move from quarterly risk reporting to identifying, reporting, and managing risk on a real-time basis across the Group. Develop visualisation and dashboard using Power BI or other digital technologies. Automate repeatable processes to enhance overall risk maturity and increase productivity and effectiveness. Key Result Area To embed an effective ERM, RCSA and SORMIC process. To promote information sharing and a “Collective Brain” approach to ensure smarter and effective collaboration with cross functional. Drive a progressive Risk culture that enables and supports overall Axiata's Winning culture. To ensure Axiata Group & OpCos have cost-effective and comprehensive group insurance coverage. Efficient and productive running of RCMC & BRCC meetings. Job requirement Exposure to working in a diverse, fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong strategic partnership, advisory, planning and organisational skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proactive and results-oriented approach to work. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficient in SQL and Python or R, and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau. Detail-oriented with poficient writing skills. Knowledge of risk management tools and software is advantageous.
Role in organisation The Specialist Enterprise Risk Management will report to the Head of ERM and work closely with the Cyber Security, Data Privacy and Compliance, Ethics & Integrity teams.
