Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead electrical engineering tasks for projects.

2. Evaluate, confirm, and execute the feasibility of electrical solutions.

3. Conduct electrical design work, including BOMs, schematics, PLC & HMI programming, and operation/maintenance manuals.

4. Provide on-site guidance for electrical installation, inspect construction quality, and oversee final acceptance.

5. Perform electrical commissioning, including in-house testing and on-site support at customer locations (with travel requirements).

6. Participate in and organize technical training to continuously enhance professional skills.

7. Prepare technical training documentation.

Job Requirements

1. At least Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.

2. At lest 2 years of experience preferably in Automation System.

3. Capable of electrical component selection, wiring layout, and design.

5. Experienced in programming one or more mainstream PLC & HMI systems (e.g., Inovance EASY/AM series, Weintek touchscreens).

6. Familiar with servo motors, stepper motors, and VFD applications (e.g., Inovance drives).

7. Knowledgeable in industrial communication protocols (RS232, RS485, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.).

8. Basic understanding of EPSON robot programming and debugging.

Trilliant is looking for a design engineer with a background in electrical engineering for its research and development department. Under the supervision of the principal Engineer, this person will provide support for the design of products for certification and compliance with safety, radio frequency emission and environmental standards. This position would be reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design or support the design of our products based on compliance and certification.
  • Prepare and document test plans and results and then perform or supervise these compliance tests at our offices or in the laboratory.
  • Conduct and review EMI/EMC/FCC and other testing (surge, ESD, temperature…)
  • Develop and design solutions in the event of failure.
  • Familiarize yourself with the standards applicable to wireless products internationally.
  • Participate in the reviews of our product designs.
  • Support, review, and help our team during the testing/debugging of prototypes.
  • Prepare and draft the necessary documentation for international certification agencies.
  • The person will be part of an international team and will work with our teams in Canada, UK, Malaysia, and other countries on select projects.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of product design experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wireless transmission certification standards.
  • Experience with preparing test plans and reviewing test reports.
  • Experience with RF network.
  • Experience with Altium.
  • Experience in electronic design of high-frequency circuits (an asset).

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provides technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas
  • Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
  • Reviews and interprets customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.
  • Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.
  • Leads the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts.
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
  • Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
  • Solve complex problems
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information
  • Recommend modifications for systems
  • Create reports, minutes and updates
  • May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.

Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
  • 7 to 10 years of related experience;Experience in similar job roles
Typical Education

Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Summary

The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed.
The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.
