Reliability Engineering Department

The Reliability Engineering Team is responsible for the overall health of critical systems across Vantage global facilities. For each of the major systems Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls, the Reliability Engineering team is responsible for ensuring success in the commissioning stages of new construction, evaluating and improving the reliability and performance of existing critical infrastructure, sustaining equipment operational availability through maintenance program design, providing ongoing technical support to the Site Operations Teams, as well as providing systems reliability and maintainability feedback to the Design Engineering teams for future design considerations.

Position Description

The Reliability Engineer for electrical systems is responsible for the overall functional health of critical power systems. This responsibility includes oversight of facility acceptance testing, electrical system maintenance planning, and Site Operations technical support. Requirements for this position include full familiarity with electrical systems arrangements, equipment types, electrical system protection components, electrical switchgear automation and control components, onsite power generation, and critical power distribution. The electrical Reliability Engineer understands potential system failures and extended effects of those failures, appropriate failure response actions, as well as maintenance and electrical testing techniques.

Also required is an understanding of electrical system theory, an ability to read drawings and schematics, and an ability to identify likely failure points in design. The electrical reliability engineer acts as an advisor for Site Operations to reference as needed and has enough experience to train technicians to the level of effective troubleshooting. The mechanical systems Reliability Engineer regularly interfaces the Vantage Design Engineering team, the Automation Systems Group, and Facility Operations teams.

Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure newly built systems meet design intent and perform without issue during the facility acceptance testing phases of new construction.

  • Design maintenance programs to maximize equipment operability and efficiency while minimizing life cycle costs.

  • Understand potential equipment failures and provide full technical support Facility Operations teams in the event of a critical system failure.

  • Conduct root cause analysis reviews with site teams and key OEM vendors and develop a corrective action program.

  • Provide systems reliability and maintainability feedback to the Design Engineering teams for future design considerations.

Duties
  • Work with Design Engineering and Construction teams to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.

  • Review construction equipment submittals, identify potential deficiencies, and evaluate maintenance feasibility.

  • Review commissioning plans and ensure the thoroughness of startup testing.

  • Attend factory witness testing to verify and validate equipment functionality

  • Identify risks and develop risk management plans to manage improvement initiatives that boost system reliability and anticipate reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.

  • Work with Site Operations to perform analyses of Asset Utilization, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, and Remaining useful life.

  • Implement energy saving measures to improve the overall PUE of the system.

  • Perform system component upgrades as required to ensure reliability and combat obsolescence

  • Perform Root-Cause Failure Analysis and facilitate corrective action.

  • Design maintenance programs to minimize maintenance complexity and reduce maintenance down time.

  • Validate maintenance performance by analyzing trends, operational history, and maintenance data.

  • Design appropriate site response procedures based on potential critical system failures.

  • Provide at request guidance and technical support to Facility Operators.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of total work time.

  • Ability to travel internationally.

Job Description

He is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of mobile water treatment systems. This includes performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and supporting the mobilization and deployment of assets. The role involves managing spare parts inventory, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining detailed maintenance logs and reports. By optimizing system performance and minimizing downtime, he ensures that MWS fleets are reliable, functional, and ready for deployment, providing critical support to both internal teams and external clients.

TASK

Technical

  • Basic knowledge of the technical and process function of each of the MWS fleets.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to reduce unexpected breakdowns.
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and replace worn-out components before failure.
  • Work with sensors, transmitters, and control loops to ensure process stability.

Management

  • Ensuring the mobile fleets are in a state of readiness at all times. This includes FAT testing, maintaining equipment using maintenance schedules, ensuring all units are roadworthy and stored safely.
  • Developing time based asset routines for all the mobile fleets, developing maintenance procedures such as changing media, RO membranes cleaning and preservation & etc
  • Identify all consumables and enable the equipment required for projects and fleet maintenance, ensuring adequate stocks of essential spares and consumables such as resins, media, cartridges and bag filters.
  • Verify that spare parts and consumables meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment manuals.
  • Spare parts and inventory management by tracking critical spare parts availability to avoid downtime.
  • Coordinating with the resin regeneration facility ensuring the regeneration process is always completed with the required quality parameters.
  • Ensuring all assets are kept in a safe condition, proper storage area for main assets, shelved area for ancillaries and hoses.
  • Ensuring our facility has sufficient handling equipment such as forklift, pallet truck, proper maintenance tools
  • Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to prevent equipment hazards during maintenance.
  • Assisting with auditing, particularly of on site activities such as Mobile SOS program if the site engineer is not available.

Safety

  • Developing risk assessments for the deployment of mobile assets
  • Developing fire safety, chemical safety, spill response and CSDS
  • Assist in ensuring that subcontractors are H&S approved and operate according to plans.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards.
  • Ensuring workplace safety by implementing and adhering to best practices that minimize risks and hazards

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise a team of maintenance technicians and oversee all maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.
  2. Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for plant equipment, including pumps, motors, compressors, boilers, and instrumentation.
  3. Plan and coordinate plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and major equipment overhauls.
  4. Perform root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and predictive maintenance to improve equipment performance.
  5. Monitor maintenance data, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Manage maintenance budget, control costs, and optimize resource allocation.
  7. Oversee contractor and vendor management, ensuring compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements.
  8. Enforce workplace SSHE standards and conduct risk assessments and incident investigations.
  9. Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for maintenance planning and execution.
  10. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to maintenance personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance and reliability engineering, preferably in biodiesel, oleochemical, petrochemical, or refinery plants.
  • Strong knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance, RCA, and FMEA.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS software (SAP).
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with plant utilities such as boilers, compressors, pumps, and rotating equipment.
  • Willing to work in Port Dickson and travel when required.
