Role Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shared Services Accounting Specialist to assist with the accounting operations across Malaysia, Singapore and other overseas markets. The role is responsible for supporting the full spectrum of accounting tasks for Singapore, Malaysia or other overseas entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with local regulatory standards (e.g. IRAS, LHDN), tax obligations, and efficient processing of daily accounting functions. The ideal candidate should be experienced in cross-border finance operations and capable of leading process standardization across entities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regional Accounting Operations

  • handle day-to-day accounting activities across Singapore, Malaysia or other overseas, including:
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Vendor processing, tax coding (GST/SST), payments scheduling.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Invoicing, collections, customer aging analysis.
  • General Ledger (GL): Journal entries, reconciliations, monthly accruals.
  • Fixed Assets Accounting: Capitalization, depreciation, disposals.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Reconciliations and proper elimination for consolidation.
  • Bank & Cash Management: Bank reconciliations, treasury coordination, foreign currency handling.

2. Month-End, Quarter-End, and Year-End Closing Support

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial closings.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and file supporting documents.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors for annual audits.
  • Coordinate group reporting and local statutory reporting timelines.

3. Basic Compliance & Regulatory Supports Assist in ensuring adherence to:

  • Singapore financial regulations (IRAS, ACRA, GST) oMalaysia financial regulations (LHDN, SSM, SST)
  • Prepare draft tax returns for GST and SST submissions.
  • Maintain basic internal controls records as per company policies and local laws.

4. Process Support & Documentation

  • Help standardize accounting processes by maintain updated SOP documents.
  • Identify minor process inefficiencies and report to the team for improvement.
  • Track and report basic KPIs for shared services tasks (e.g., invoice processing time).

5. Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a finance liaison between business teams in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Provide timely and proactive support to regional and local stakeholders.
  • Help to resolve escalated accounting or finance-related issues from both business units and external parties (vendors, auditors, tax agents).

6. Audit, Tax, and Statutory Reporting

  • Coordinate with local audit firms and tax agents for timely completion of annual statutory audits and tax filings.
  • Ensure all financial reporting and disclosures are aligned with local standards (Singapore FRS & MFRS).
  • Support the preparation and review of statutory financial statements.

7. Development Expand technical skills in AP/AR/GL operations across SEA markets, gaining hands-on experience with local tax systems (GST/SST) and ERP workflows.

  • Participate in cross-functional projects (e.g., system upgrades, process documentation) to build holistic finance knowledge.
  • Promote a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment between the teams handling Singapore and Malaysia portfolios. lls with the ability to work across cultures and functions.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  2. 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a shared services or regional finance environment.
  3. Basic knowledge of accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements in Southeast Asia.
  4. Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) through academic or internship experience.
  5. High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Skills

    Purpose With limited guidance, perform finance-related activities related to Financial Accounting, Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Group Re, Planning, FinOps and Performance Management. Ensure that all tasks and procedures are completed to achieve key business objectives. Efficient stakeholder management internally and externally. Nature of work Key accountabilities Performs close related ledger tasks, e. g. accruals, provisions, reconciliations and journals postings. Prepares ledger reports and other reports including those required by Group and regulators. Performs analysis of the results. Conducts accounts receivable and accounts payable activities. Performs basic technical research. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accounting, finance-related activities, processes and procedures are followed and completed. Enhances business decision making and supports development and execution of business strategy and other initiatives through robust data, accurate detailed financial analysis, insight and other relevant activities. Provides regular support as a subject matter expert to projects and internal initiatives by providing know-how and expertise in required areas. Monitors, optimizes and implements new automated processes by utilizing one or a combination of suitable technologies. Performs and updates ICFR controls in compliance with internal control guidelines. Performance Management Accountabilities Demonstrate commitment to corporate values.     Your key responsibilities

    As a FAAS Senior Associate, you’ll be a key member of the team, committed to supporting FAAS executives in building and maintaining relationships with clients and other service lines in EY. You’ll have the opportunity to challenge the status quo and provide alternative viewpoints. Leveraging off our delivery tools and service enablers, you’ll assist to plan and execute projects and play a key role in the successful delivery of services to our clients.

    As the market develops and financial reporting requirements evolve at a rapid rate, there has also been an increasing focus on technology or digital innovations to unlock potential as well as further optimise the finance operations in this changing environment.

    We are looking for Senior Associate to join our team in executing assignments related to:

    • Finance process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, including re-engineering of processes and providing advice on opportunities for automation
    • Audit or audit remediation to improve the quality and timeliness of financial reporting
    • Adoption of new accounting standards to drive compliance to reporting requirements

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Perform review and analysis to identify improvement opportunities related to finance processes, automation, controls and governance. This includes identifying and organising findings from the review, analysing their root causes, providing solutions to the findings as well as supporting the implementation of proposed solutions
    • Leverage on analytical or digital techniques to perform analysis to drive value and provide meaningful business information effectively, including highlighting potential areas of non-compliance or anomalies
    • Assess the requirements of accounting standards, the corresponding change impact and implementation considerations for clients
    • Contribute to the planning and execution of project delivery as well as business development related activities
    • Engage and establish relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels, consistently deliver quality work products and client services
    • Develop and maintain long term client relationships and networks, develop relationships with members across EY practices to serve client needs

    To qualify for the role you must have

    • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field / ACCA affiliate
    • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in professional services environment

    Ideally, you’ll also have

    • Completed the designated number of any professional accounting papers i.e. ACCA, CPA, MICPA, ICAEW
    • Possess accounting technical capabilities and competency related to process improvement, familiar with enabling technology and innovations for finance function
    • Knowledge of new developments in the financial accounting and advisory services capabilities, stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the clients’ businesses
