We are able to build high-quality datasets at petabyte-scale and low cost through a tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research work. We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join us.
What You'll Do
- Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into our ingestion pipeline
- Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform.
- Collaborate closely with our Scientists to shift the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power our next-generation models.
- Collaborate with others on the AI Team and Speechify Leadership to craft the AI Team's dataset roadmap to power Speechify's next-generation consumer and enterprise products.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
- Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments
- Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (we use GCP)
- Experience with web crawlers, large-scale data processing workflows is a plus

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Data Team and drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of our data and machine learning platforms . This role is critical to enabling our AI and data science teams to move fast and deliver innovative solutions while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our infrastructure. You will lead the design and operation of robust ML infrastructure, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and champion best practices in DevOps and SRE for AI/ML systems at scale.
Your Impact
- Collaborate together with data engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers as a cross-disciplinary team to design, build, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure for data pipelines and machine learning workflows.
- Own and evolve the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices for our data and AI/ML infrastructure, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and performance tuning.
- Manage and optimize the deployment and lifecycle of ML workflows, including feature stores, model tracking systems (e.g., MLflow), and real-time recommendation services.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code deployments for machine learning applications and data systems using Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and Ansible.
- Continuously improve automation, deployment speed, and system observability to support rapid experimentation and productionization of ML models
- Empower data engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers to be more self-sufficient by building intuitive tooling, documentation, and infrastructure abstractions for day-to-day operations and workflows
- Partner with teams to evaluate and integrate new tools and frameworks to streamline model development, deployment, and monitoring.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and strategic planning for the evolution of our data and ML infrastructure
- Must possess strong knowledge in DevOps engineering with a focus on Linux-based cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
- Must be proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and CI/CD (we use Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD).
- Good DevOps scripting automation skills in languages such as Python, Ruby, and Bash is a must.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management in distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and their application to data and ML systems, in order to manage system performance metrics and SLA compliance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams; good problem-solver, and able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Hands-on in building and operating AI/ML infrastructure, including ML workflows, feature stores, MLflow, and real-time ML-powered services e.g. recommendation engine is a bonus experience.
- Experience with DataOps infrastructure is a strong plus, including Airflow or Argo Workflows, column-based data warehouse (we use AWS Redshift), and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Familiarity with MLOps best practices and the evolving machine learning infrastructure ecosystem is another strong plus.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced
Senior DevOps Engineer
to join our Data Team and drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of our
data and machine learning platforms . This role is critical to enabling our AI and data science teams to move fast and deliver innovative solutions while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our infrastructure. You will lead the design and operation of robust ML infrastructure, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and champion best practices in DevOps and SRE for AI/ML systems at scale.
Your Impact
Collaborate together with data engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers as a cross-disciplinary team to design, build, and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure for data pipelines and machine learning workflows. Own and evolve the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices for our data and AI/ML infrastructure, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and performance tuning. Manage and optimize the deployment and lifecycle of ML workflows, including feature stores, model tracking systems (e.g., MLflow), and real-time recommendation services. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code deployments for machine learning applications and data systems using Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and Ansible. Continuously improve automation, deployment speed, and system observability to support rapid experimentation and productionization of ML models Empower data engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers to be more self-sufficient by building intuitive tooling, documentation, and infrastructure abstractions for day-to-day operations and workflows Partner with teams to evaluate and integrate new tools and frameworks to streamline model development, deployment, and monitoring. Contribute to architectural decisions and strategic planning for the evolution of our data and ML infrastructure
Who You Are
Must possess strong knowledge in DevOps engineering with a focus on Linux-based cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS. Must be proficiency with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and CI/CD (we use Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD). Good DevOps scripting automation skills in languages such as Python, Ruby, and Bash is a must. Experience with monitoring, observability, and incident management in distributed systems. Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and their application to data and ML systems, in order to manage system performance metrics and SLA compliance. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams; good problem-solver, and able to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Hands-on in building and operating AI/ML infrastructure, including ML workflows, feature stores, MLflow, and real-time ML-powered services e.g. recommendation engine is a bonus experience. Experience with DataOps infrastructure is a strong plus, including Airflow or Argo Workflows, column-based data warehouse (we use AWS Redshift), and ETL/ELT pipelines. Familiarity with MLOps best practices and the evolving machine learning infrastructure ecosystem is another strong plus.

What You Will Be Responsible For
- Manage, monitor, and optimize NetApp storage systems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Design and implement effective data backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data security and integrity.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Perl, Shell) to streamline storage management and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve storage-related issues, providing technical support as needed.
- Administer and optimize Red Hat systems, including configuration, performance tuning, and fault diagnosis.
- Conduct storage capacity planning, assess future storage needs, and recommend scalable expansion solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing NetApp storage systems, with proficiency in ONTAP OS.
- Strong understanding of storage network protocols (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, FC) and related hardware.
- Hands-on experience with data backup and recovery technologies, including SnapMirror, SnapVault, and NDMP.
- Proficient in automation scripting (Python, Perl, Shell) for storage management.
- Experienced in Red Hat system administration, including command-line operations and system management tools.
- Skilled in configuring, monitoring, and optimizing NetApp storage systems for performance and reliability.
