We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team. The DPO will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the compliance of CGSS with applicable data protection regulations, including GDPR and the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act. Key Activities :

  • Oversee compliance with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act, and other applicable data protection regulations or global policies.
  • Provide expert support and consultation for sourcing initiatives during the transition phase to ensure GDPR requirements are met.
  • Act as the main contact at CGSS for the Commerzbank Data Protection Officer (DPO) on all data protection matters, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and best practices within CGSS.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance and identify potential risks related to data protection.
  • Lead and coordinate data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) where necessary.
  • Handle inquiries and concerns related to data privacy and protection from internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Facilitate data protection training and awareness programs for CGSS employees.
  • Respond to and manage data breaches, including the coordination of investigations and reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Stay updated on developments within data protection laws and regulations, advising on necessary adaptations to CGSS policies and practices.
  • Ensure data protection compliance for data subject rights requests (e.g. including user access, rectification).

Formal Education :

  • University degree in Law, Data Protection, Information Security, or a related field
  • Professional certification in data protection is a plus.

Specialist Knowledge :

Minimum of 5 years of experience in data protection and privacy management including experience the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act and ideally as well with GDPR.

As a Data Protection Platform Operations Engineer , you will play a key role in supporting the development, integration, and security of the data platforms that power bp's enterprise applications. You'll work hands-on with engineers and architects to ensure optimal performance, resilience, and compliance across bp's cloud and data ecosystems. What You'll Deliver

  • Contribute to the configuration, integration, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-scale data platforms.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) adoption to streamline deployments.
  • Monitor platform performance and availability, identifying opportunities to improve reliability and scalability.
  • Assist with basic security operations such as access control, activity monitoring, and remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate on the delivery of data pipelines and platform capabilities across cloud environments.

What You'll Bring

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in IT, platform engineering, or data engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform, Azure Bicep, or AWS CDK.
  • Basic scripting/automation experience with Python, Java, or Scala.

About the Job

The person reports to the Head of Data Protection Office. Key functions include policy-making, enforcement of data protection and governance, analyzing, improving, and resolving data-related issues.

  • Develop and implement policies and practices on data governance that meet the obligations under PDPA.
  • Regularly review the adequacy of governance, standards, and procedures of personal data.
  • Execute the approved rollout plan for Group Policy and procedures according to the proposed milestones.
  • Continuously improve and review practices of company-wide retention initiatives.
  • Manage PDP-related complaints, queries, and data incidents.
  • Advise and provide guidance on dealing with data incidents, breaches, and relevant reporting to regulatory bodies such as BNM.
  • Monitor risks that might arise regarding the processing of personal data.
  • Advise business users on data incidents/breaches escalation to OIRC in a timely manner.
  • Manage a team of Departmental Data Officers (DDOs) to achieve data protection objectives.
  • Perform regular assessments on the department to ensure compliance with PDPA and relevant BNM guidelines.
  • Plan, develop, and execute initiatives and projects as endorsed.
  • Take accountability for considering business and regulatory compliance risks and taking appropriate mitigation steps.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats, and technologies to understand risks and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlight potential concerns/risks and proactively share best risk management practices.
  • Other responsibilities as entailed.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with:

  • At least 6 years of experience in Life Insurance, Banking Industry, or similar capacity in Information Security Management or Risk Management, preferably in Data Management, Process Governance, or Privacy Management.
  • Key Skills: Communication, Interpersonal, Supervisory, Delegation, PR, Computer skills, Conflict Resolution, Decision Making, and Teamwork.
  • Key Knowledge: Personal Data Protection Act 2010, General Insurance Act / Financial Services Act, Basic PC knowledge.

Experience working with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native data services (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks). Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages such as Python or Scala. Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and distributed systems architecture.

Essential Skills:

Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, Databricks, and Palantir platforms. Knowledge of data ingestion pipelines, data governance, access control, and visualization tools. Proven ability to support large-scale, multi-cloud data platforms with a focus on cost-efficiency, performance, and resilience. Familiarity with performance tuning, distributed query optimization, and data indexing. Exposure to both real-time and batch processing pipelines and architectures.
