- Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
- Drive cost-optimization initiatives across our data stack, ensuring we achieve maximum value from our cloud and technology investments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role.
- Expert proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Exposure to building data infrastructure to support AI/ML workflows (e.g., feature stores, MLOps).
Deep, hands-on experience with modern data stack tools, including:
Workflow Orchestration: Apache Airflow
- Data Transformation: dbt
- Cloud Data Warehouses: Google BigQuery is a must and/or familiarity with other similar Data Warehouse technologies i.e. Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks.
- Modern OLAP Databases: StarRocks or similar (e.g., ClickHouse, Druid).
Familiarity with OLTP databases like MySQL and Postgres is required.
Solid understanding of DataOps principles, data modelling, ETL/ELT design patterns, and data architecture.
- Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Added Advantage)
- Experience within the e-commerce and/or digital marketing landscape.
- Hands-on experience with data observability platforms (e.g., Monte Carlo, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Experience designing and building multi-tenant data architectures for SaaS products.
- Extensive experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10 data engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to engineering best practices. Partner with stakeholders from multiple APAC regions to understand business priorities, gather requirements, and translate them into a well-defined product backlog. Prioritize and manage the backlog to align with strategic business objectives and technical feasibility. Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, high-performance data pipelines and data models. Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are met across all projects. Facilitate effective communication between the data engineering team and cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and product managers. Monitor delivery timelines, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation plans. Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and team capabilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
15+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a people management role. Proven track record in managing distributed teams and delivering complex data engineering projects. Strong experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data engineering tools. Solid understanding of data modeling (dimensional and relational), ETL/ELT design, and data warehouse architectures. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging teams across multiple geographies. Ability to prioritize work, manage competing demands, and deliver results under tight timelines. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and ADLS Gen2. Knowledge of data governance tools and frameworks. Exposure to APAC market dynamics and cross-cultural collaboration.
