Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join as Credit Underwriter in this critical role of assessing, evaluating and underwriting financing applications. You will be expected to take ownership of credit recommendations and decisions by analysing financial data, reviewing documentation and providing informed recommendations regarding financing approvals. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a strong background in credit analysis and risk assessment in the financial services industry and will also have a role supporting cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough risk assessments by following the company’s underwriting guidelines, policies and scoring methodology. Work will include analysing client creditworthiness, and the risk associated with individual transactions. On a day-to-day basis, you will be reviewing company documents, financial statements, trade documents, credit reports, market research and other relevant documentation to evaluate the risk associated with financing transactions.
Collaborate with the relationship managers and the operations team to facilitate the execution and structuring of transactions and perform ongoing monitoring.
Execute monitoring procedures and ensure timely receipt of client documentation and financial information; maintain accurate and organised records and documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, best practices and internal credit policies.
Prepare restructuring proposals and support collections and recovery processes when required.
Collaborate with other departments to streamline credit analysis processes and enhance overall efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. CPA qualification a plus.
Proven 2+ years of work experience as underwriter/credit analyst in the financial services industry, in banks or firms engaged in direct lending, with strong ability to analyse and assess risk. Exposure to trade finance, supply chain finance, construction finance or related sectors is a plus.
Track record of making sound credit decisions based on comprehensive analysis and interpretation of data.
Familiarity with financing documentation, credit reports, and market analysis.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication English and Chinese skills (preferably Cantonese).
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality guidelines.
Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Extract data from financial reports to conduct financial and statistical analysis and identify financial discrepancies and recommend appropriate solutions. Contribute to the monitoring and controlling of expenditure by approving or denying requisitions based on whether the items are within budget. Prepare a variety of financial reports based on the analysis results. Conduct presentations related to findings and provide recommendations to the relevant internal stakeholders. Research and analyze costs of projects, departments, and future ventures to provide information and insights about expenses and determine profitability margins. Conduct budget and expense analysis and report on variances ensuring that the projected budget is met and assisting with cost reduction initiatives. Reconcile and review monthly account analysis for balance sheet accounts. Ensure budget and forecast variances are analysed and recommendations are made to correct or improve company performance. Assist with input into the annual budgeting and forecasting process. Ensure key pieces of analysis are performed on areas of risk or opportunity within the business and that the financial levers are understood and communicated to the business together with clear recommendations. Continuously review business initiatives to ensure that they meet the required profitability expectations. Bachelor's degree, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Education experience may vary by geography. Five plus years of relevant experience. SAP knowledge, especially on inventory is a plus. Experience in manufacturing environment is required. Experience in a multinational environment & culture is important. In-depth knowledge and understanding of financial forecast, costing and managerial accounting. Broad knowledge of an electronic manufacturing environment and processes. Good understanding of integrated business applications ie SAP. Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem resolution skills. Work proactively and provide recommendations.
