We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our Finance team in a fast-paced EMS/manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analysing and managing the company’s costs to enhance profitability and operational efficiency. This role involves cost tracking, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial planning support, ensuring accurate reporting and actionable insights that drive strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse manufacturing and production costs to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labour, and overhead.
• Prepare detailed cost analysis reports and present findings to management.
• Monitor cost variances and investigate discrepancies in budgeted vs. actual expenses.
• Develop and maintain cost control systems and recommend improvements.
• Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
• Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and production teams to ensure cost accuracy and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities by providing relevant cost data and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.
• Assist in inventory valuation and ensure accurate costing of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in cost accounting
• Candidates must come from an EMS or manufacturing environment to be considered
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and financial analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
• Solid analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in data reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Accountant to join GBS Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for standard cost calculations, inventory control, and supporting monthly financial closing activities. You will work closely with Finance, Manufacturing, and Business teams to ensure accurate product costing and process integrity. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with ERP systems, and a solid understanding of cost accounting principles.

• Perform monthly standard cost calculations and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
• Act as a liaison between Finance, Manufacturing, and Business Management to address standard costing matters.
• Manage ad-hoc product costing requests and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
• Provide Finance and Manufacturing teams with visibility into costing issues and discrepancies.
• Participate in month-end closing and reporting activities, ensuring completion in line with the financial closing calendar.
• Maintain and regularly review process documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee inventory control processes and follow up on tolling product activities.

• Up to 3 years of relevant working experience as a Cost Accountant
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise effectively.
• Capable of working collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including advanced functions such as pivot tables).
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Cost Accountant

Description

• Month end journal entries to close inventory and cost
• Inventory reconciliation and inventory reporting including inventory turns, etc.
• Perform worldwide inventory standard cost roll-up and update in Oracle
• Amortization of capitalized variance including calculating and journal entries
• Preparation of inventory reserve calculations
• Participate and manage Oracle cost and inventory projects
• Manage auditors’ queries on specific items related to duties specified
• Perform inventory and distributor audits (travel required)
• Any other future duties as assigned by Manager or Director
• Manage zero cost update and cost roll up (BOM)
• Discrepant Material Requisition (DMR) review and approval
• Manage customer sample accrual
• Potential future development to perform revenue and A/R duties

Requirements:

• Degree with Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost Accountant (CMA)
• 5 to 7 years’ Costing experience in a manufacturing environment

• Cost accounting skills, knowledge, and experience
• Advanced Excel skills required, Oracle a plus
• Accounting period-end close experience
• Any other relevant high-tech or semiconductor working experience a plus
• Other accounting experience (G/L, revenue, A/R) a plus

Job Summary

As a Cost Accountant at Quantum, you will be responsible for reviewing and reporting on various activities related to production and service/repair operations, including cost maintenance, variance analysis, financial close and reporting.

Job Responsibilities

• Month-end close review and journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
• Prepare monthly and quarterly inventory reports and trend analysis
• Product costing and maintenance
• Develop reporting to analyze inventory transactions and variance analysis
• Identify issues and work with operations to implement solutions
• Support internal and external audit requirements
• SOX compliance and testing
• Reserve analysis and calculation
• Working Hours: 8.00AM to 5.00PM with flexibility to occasionally work off hours to attend project meetings with US counterparts.

• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
• Experience with inventory cost accounting is a plus
• ERP systems and report-writing experience, D365 experience a plus
• Strong skills in MS Excel

• Strong collaborative and communication skills
• Ability to take on projects with minimal guidance

Job Description

1. Manage and prepare full set of accounts, intercompany reconciliation, and audit schedules.
2. Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
3. Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecast, and support individual business units/entities in finance-related matters.
4. Prepare costing and track costs.
5. Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
6. Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
7. Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
8. Prepare ECI, liaise with corporate tax agent, and review tax computation prepared by tax agent.
9. Collate data and prepare management report.

11. Liaise with internal auditors and stakeholders for periodic internal audit assignments.
12. Liaise with corporate secretary for secretarial matters, maintain proper filing of annual return/XBRL file preparation and secretarial-related documents.
13. Involve in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) process studies, and ensure the program runs smoothly.
14. Prepare draft financial statements based on relevant financial reporting standards.
15. Involve in government grant applications.
16. Other Ad Hoc duties as assigned by management.
