What you will do
If successful, you will represent the Business Unit in providing effective above-site manufacturing digital and data optimization support. You will be part of the team to leverage central work processes and tools and identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency. You will also have the opportunity to grow and develop junior engineers.
Key deliverables include:
- Support process control systems infrastructure (software/hardware) and advanced control applications for refineries and chemical plants
- Design and engineer computing infrastructure such as servers, operating systems and networks
- Integrate and deploy advanced control applications into the industrial control systems (ICS) environment
- Provide effective above-site Control Systems sustainment support
- Leverage work processes and tools to facilitate effective above-site support, and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Primary interface for remote engineering support with manufacturing Site Engineers
- Establish yourself as an extended member of the site Control Systems team, and proactively contribute to work-planning and prioritization discussions
- Collaborate with Application Engineers to ensure applications infrastructure within scope of responsibility are operating at optimum level
- Maintain strong working relationship with Control System Support Team (CSST)
- Interface with and provide input to SME and Supervisor on issues and opportunities
- Monitoring and surveillance of integrity parameters to ensure reliable operations
- Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and integrity recommendation stewardship
- Bad actor identification and analysis to reduce equipment downtime
- Data analytics, digital tools/technologies and operationalize upgraded work practices through digital transformation
- Overall integrity effectiveness and management
- Regional oversight and stewardship of integrity work product metrics for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency
- Coordination and communication between various global centers and business affiliates
- Technical mentoring and continuous on-the-job guidance to junior engineers
- Ability to learn and adapt to an agile and flexible working environment

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Information Technology
- Experience with virtualization, networking, Windows servers, operating systems, Active Directory, domain controllers and/or PowerShell

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Automation Engineer to join our maintenance and engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution and supervision of planned and corrective maintenance for electrical and automation systems, particularly PLC, Drives, and LV electrical components . Your main goal will be to ensure reliable equipment performance, prevent unplanned downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance Execution & Reliability- Carry out and supervise planned and corrective maintenance for PLCs, Drives, and electrical automation systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of automated equipment through prompt troubleshooting and high technical standards.
Maintain backups for PLC and drive programs during maintenance activities.
Ensure all PLC systems are password-protected and secured.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring faults related to PLCs, drives, and electrical systems to prevent repeat issues.
Lead troubleshooting activities to quickly resolve automation-related breakdowns.
- Propose and implement technical improvements (hardware/software) to increase equipment reliability and performance.
Execute modifications based on operational needs or management directives.
- Keep an accurate record of all bypassed systems (e.g., crane systems) and ensure their timely clearance.
Document all maintenance activities, technical findings, and system changes clearly.
Monitor and analyze equipment KPIs to support reliability projects and initiatives.
- Lead and supervise maintenance or repair work performed by internal technicians, contractors, or OEMs, ensuring work is done according to schedule and specification.
- Collaborate with planners to evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance program, including tracking planned vs. actual activities and backlogs.
Identify training needs and maintain a training matrix for team competency development.
- Provide on-the-job training for technicians to improve skills and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Verify technician-prepared maintenance checklists and support performance evaluations (e.g., PMDS).
- Ensure all work activities comply with HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) policies and standards.
Support warranty claim documentation and technical reporting when needed.
- Take on additional tasks or assignments as directed by management to achieve department objectives.
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronic, Automation Engineering , or a related discipline.
- 35 years of technical experience in automation and electrical maintenance, preferably within port operations or heavy industry .
Strong expertise in PLC systems (hardware/software), Drives, and field equipment.
- Solid understanding of port equipment maintenance (e.g., cranes, RTGs, spreaders) is a strong advantage.
Proficient in conducting root cause analysis, reporting, and documentation.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
Ability to work independently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

Job Description
- The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the secure operation, management, and compliance of all Operational Technology systems within the organization.
- The Automation Engineer supports and develops the Critical Control Network and systems according to the defined strategy. The Automation Engineer provides technical support where required, works closely with process improvement teams to deliver projects, and leads the site maintenance team.
- The Automation Engineer supports the development of the culture of equipment ownership in the team with high action orientation and commitment for results which delivers manufacturing excellence.
- Contributes to the Compelling Business Need – Work Plan, CBN, long term (Value Creation Plan - VCP) and mid-term (Annual Operations Plan - AOP) plans cascaded from the area strategy which continuously over delivers on company goals.
- University Degree (Bachelor) or higher in Computer Science /Engineering or another related field.
- Languages: Local - Fluent; English – Intermediate
- Minimum 1 year of experience in OT cybersecurity, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Ability to engage collaboratively with Cybersecurity, IT, and business leadership, influencing outcomes through expertise and analysis.
- SAP, PM Module, and Machine Interface experience is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity risk management and mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with international cybersecurity standards including ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, and ISO 27001.
- In-depth hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas: Cloud Security, Application Security, Network Security, OT Security, Identity & Access Management.
- Knowledge of OT Systems: Understanding of various OT systems such as SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), DCS (Distributed Control Systems), and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is crucial.
- Cybersecurity Fundamentals: Proficiency in cybersecurity principles, including risk assessment, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Network Security: Skills in network segmentation, access controls, and intrusion detection systems to protect OT environments.
- System Architecture: Ability to design secure system architectures for critical infrastructure.
