Currently, we have an opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Control Systems Engineer to join our global team. The role is based in Menara ExxonMobil, Kuala Lumpur.

What you will do

If successful, you will represent the Business Unit in providing effective above-site manufacturing digital and data optimization support. You will be part of the team to leverage central work processes and tools and identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency. Key deliverables include:

  • Support process control systems infrastructure (software/hardware) and advanced control applications for refineries and chemical plants
  • Design and engineer computing infrastructure such as servers, operating systems and networks
  • Integrate and deploy advanced control applications into the industrial control systems (ICS) environment
  • Primary interface for remote engineering support with manufacturing Site Engineers
  • Collaborate with Application Engineers to ensure applications infrastructure within scope of responsibility are operating at optimum level
  • Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and integrity recommendation stewardship
  • Data analytics and operationalize upgraded work practices through digital transformation
About you

Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must have or be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience with virtualization, networking, Windows servers, operating systems, Active Directory, domain controllers and/or PowerShell
  • Experience with software configuration, integration, testing and technical documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Troubleshooting skills, innovative and analytical thinking
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural global team

Preference will be given to those with the following additional skills / abilities:

  • Experience supporting DCS/PLC in manufacturing domain environment

Job Description

  • To ensure high reliability and effectiveness of all functions and operations activities of plant control system and instrumentation, including troubleshooting, modification, repairs and ensure the efficient running of the Engineering Control & Instrumentation team.
  • Assist in enforcing the company rules & regulations and implementation of ISO 9001/GMP requirements and safety & health practices.
  • To execute all activities related to GSR, ASM, glove puller, CDS machines, vision systems, APM, PLC system
  • controller, sensor system and other automation systems in the plant.
  • To carry out checklists and inspection of GSR, ASM, glove puller, CDS machines, vision systems, APM and other automation systems of the plant.
  • To execute plant maintenance to ensure that all GSR, ASM, glove puller, CDS machines, vision systems, APM and other automation system components are functioning properly and to assist any plant machine or equipment breakdown promptly and properly.
  • To execute GSR, ASM, glove puller, CDS machines, vision systems, APM and other automation systems’ tuning and alignment according to required accuracy and frequency.

Role & Responsibility:

Enforce and ensure the adherence to the following company policies, rules & regulation, quality standard and requirements; and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises

Plan execute the workflow:

  • Duty roster, work schedule and task delegation

  • Scheduled maintenance work for plant and equipment – 21 days, 45 Days, AM, and line stoppages
  • Improvement action, modification, repairing work, project.
  • Set up, installation, testing and qualification of the control system and instrumentation.
  • Periodical inspection and calibration of the control system and instrumentation.

Lead, manage and supervise the operational activities to ensure :

  • Breakdown is attended immediately and rectified correctly with minimal time.
  • Maintenance or repair works are being carried out good health and safety standards.
  • Timely executed and meeting deadline.

Perform verification and buy off to ensure:

  • Maintenance checklist and documentations are updated correctly and periodically.
  • Spare part stock and tools availability and control the consumption.
  • Documentations are updated in accordance with internal & external regulatory and quality requirement.
  • Control system and instrumentation are function good and meeting the functional requirement.
  • Annual spare replacement done accordingly for control system and instrumentation.

Initiate and execute continuous improvement actions:

  • Breakdown and preventive maintenance
  • Line scan and rolling stain rejection.
  • 5S at workplace and workshop.

Build healthy and motivating work environment:

  • Providing guidance, motivation, and coaching support as needed and conducting performance evaluations
  • Providing fair, constructive, and timely feedback towards performance expectations and goals
  • Discover training needs and provide coaching, skill training and personnel development plan
  • Cultivating teamwork
  • Continuously explore and improve the technical knowledge, operating procedure, and repairing skill.

Prepare reports and ensure timely submission to superior:

  • Attendance, shift report and hand over job list
  • Breakdown details, progress update
  • Measurement data for critical item

Perform review and audit:

  • WI, SOP and OPL for control system & instrumentation.
  • Unsafe act and condition, covid preventive measure, 5s
  • Lotto system compliance
  • Communicate and work collectively and collaboratively with inter departments and external parties:
  • Decision making and resolving operation issues
  • Receive complaints and resolve problems
  • Arrangement for maintenance work, update maintenance breakdown details and progress update
  • Handle safety and health hazardous.

Communicate or liaise with contractor and supplier to perform day-to-day operational activities, repair, and modification work or for the arrangement of spare part and tools.

Requirements :

Education:

  • Certificate/ Diploma in Electrical/Electronics, Control & Instrumentation, Mechatronic or equivalent.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years working with PLC (preferably SIEMENS) and instrumentation
  • Have supervisory experiences.
  • Preferably with working experience in manufacturing or similar industry
  • PLC troubleshooting, wiring/loop drawing and programming.

Technical and Professional Knowledge:

  • Good leadership, supervisory and management skill.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and human relation skill.
  • Highly committed and responsible person.
  • Good PLC knowledge and troubleshooting on control instrumentation and wiring/loop

Job Description

To ensure high reliability and effectiveness of all functions and operations activities of plant control system and instrumentation, including troubleshooting, modification, repairs and ensure the efficient running of the Engineering Control & Instrumentation team. To execute plant maintenance to ensure that all GSR, ASM, glove puller, CDS machines, vision systems, APM and other automation system components are functioning properly and to assist any plant machine or equipment breakdown promptly and properly.
