The
Dispute Resolution Intern
will play a key role in maintaining accurate dispute records, supporting low-complexity case resolutions, and contributing to process improvements. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in operations, reporting, and customer case management within a dynamic enterprise environment.
What are you accountable for?
- Dispute Case Reporting & Monitoring: Compile daily and weekly billing dispute logs, track SLA timelines, and update status reports for internal stakeholders.
- Simple Dispute Resolution Support: Manage and resolve low-complexity billing disputes under supervision.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Documentation: Conduct preliminary RCA for resolved disputes, categorise issues (e.g. system error, order mismatch, human error), and document learnings.
- System & Case Management: Update and maintain dispute records in internal systems, ensuring accuracy and data completeness.
- Process Improvement Involvement: Suggest ideas to improve turnaround time, reduce repeat disputes, or enhance clarity in billing narratives.
Who are we looking for?
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Effective communication and good written skills for professional email drafting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, and basic formulas).
- Curious, eager to learn, and comfortable working within structured processes and reporting routines.

The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join Trowers & Hamlins' international dispute resolution & litigation practice to support our Kuala Lumpur office.
Our international multi-disciplinary team advises on diverse contentious issues across a wide range of sectors. We provide practical and commercial advice for all forms of dispute resolution and avoidance, from structured negotiation and mediation to formal proceedings such as arbitrations and the courts.
Our cross-border teams handle private and public sector disputes across the spectrum. We have over 100 litigators throughout the firm focused on resolving business critical disputes and high stakes disagreements of strategic importance.
What you will be doing
- Advising in relation to and representing clients in commercial litigation matters, whether through litigation, arbitration or alternative dispute resolution. The work types shall include, but not be limited to corporate, contractual, commercial, oil and gas, technology, employment, banking and finance and real estate disputes, professional negligence, injunctions, reputation management work and contentious insolvency matters. Our work often has an international focus, not just in Malaysia but across the world.
- Expanding our provision of commercial litigation services.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and market intermediaries.
- Leading and proactive participation in individual, team and office-based business development initiatives.
- Participation in firm-wide and departmental meetings, training sessions and social events.
- Delegating client work effectively to junior fee-earners as appropriate.

What you will need
