Compliance Engineer
As a Product Compliance Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and providing product material documentation and environmental compliance information for Micron system level products to Microns external customers. You will work to manage requests, collect and upload related data, and provide information to both internal and external parties. You will also coordinate and maintain safety and electromagnetic interference (EMI) certifications and associated documentation. In this role, you will work with external customers and vendors, as well as Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality, and Business Units to support or coordinate audits, manage materials testing and reports, and interpret or implement customer specifications and industry regulatory requirements. You will be expected to monitor and review global compliance regulations Risk and Compliance regulatory tracking, conferences, and work groups and respond to changes as applicable.
Responsibilities and Tasks
• Support customer audits
• Provide certification and information via external web site (micron.com)
• Provide compliance certifications via Salesforce Customer Request
• Create and provide Material Declarations for Micron Products
• Collect product and corresponding product documentation
• Send to certification body (UL, TUV) for analysis
• Receive, maintain, and distribute certificates
• Receive and submit external EMI test reports to governing bodies
• Create and maintain Declarations of Conformity
• Provide certifications per request
• Review customer specifications against internal QA procedures
• Create review notices with exceptions
• Implement customer specific requirements as applicable
• Collect and send material to be tested annually
• Submit test results to interested parties
• Escort third party auditors during onsite visits
• Provide support and documentation and follow-up on variances
• Coordinate and facilitate cost center payments through purchasing
• Provide new Business Units with environmental requirements
• Assist with questions related to implementation
• Interpret industry regulatory requirements as they pertain to Micron products
• Monitor changes through Compliance & Risk
• Review legislative, industry, customer, and third party regulations
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related areas of focus.
- Experience in semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing is ideal.
- Experience in compliance operations, engineering management or management of change is ideal

Ensure compliance with global environmental and substance regulations such as REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Prop 65, and SCIP, while monitoring evolving legislation and industry standards.
Develop and maintain processes to identify and control banned, restricted, or declarable substances, while collaborating across teams to integrate compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Partner with suppliers to ensure accurate material declarations, conduct audits, and provide training to improve awareness of regulatory requirements.
Prepare compliance reports and declarations (e.g., SCIP submissions, Declaration of Conformity) for regulatory bodies, customers, and stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate risks related to non-compliance, proposing proactive solutions to address gaps and ensure adherence to regulations.
Stay updated on emerging regulations and recommend improvements to processes to align with industry best practices and legislative changes.
About youBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Chemical, or equivalent), with at least 5 years of experience in electrical/electronic/chemical fields, preferably in an R&D environment.
Strong knowledge of global material regulations (e.g., restricted substances lists) and proficiency with compliance tools/software like FMD systems, IMDS, and SCIP database.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and process development skills, with experience in supplier management and conducting audits.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in fast-paced environments.

- Develop and maintain processes to identify and control banned, restricted, or declarable substances, while collaborating across teams to integrate compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Partner with suppliers to ensure accurate material declarations, conduct audits, and provide training to improve awareness of regulatory requirements.
- Prepare compliance reports and declarations (e.g., SCIP submissions, Declaration of Conformity) for regulatory bodies, customers, and stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to non-compliance, proposing proactive solutions to address gaps and ensure adherence to regulations.
- Stay updated on emerging regulations and recommend improvements to processes to align with industry best practices and legislative changes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Chemical, or equivalent), with at least 5 years of experience in electrical/electronic/chemical fields, preferably in an R&D environment.
- Strong knowledge of global material regulations (e.g., restricted substances lists) and proficiency with compliance tools/software like FMD systems, IMDS, and SCIP database.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and process development skills, with experience in supplier management and conducting audits.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication skills to convey regulatory requirements to diverse audiences, coupled with fluency in English.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with planning, organizing capabilities, and programming knowledge as a plus.
- Character of high integrity and a proactive approach to driving compliance initiatives.
