Your key responsibilities

This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and external partners, to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with our brand tone and voice.Your responsibilities include:

  • Identify target audiences, tactics and methods for communications outreach and engagement
  • Develop relevant and quality external communications programs, plans and materials, including key messages, content, and positioning, to be disseminated to targeted external audiences in a timely and accurate manner
  • Create and manage content for press releases, speeches, newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather insights and ensure messaging is consistent and effective.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert, providing guidance to internal stakeholders on public relations activation.
  • Proactively build relationships and collaborate with media outlets or organizations, community groups, commentators, opinion makers and relevant influencers to expand outreach, source opportunities and generate interest in topics
  • Act as a focal point for media requests - monitoring and responding appropriately to requests from the media
  • Facilitate and organize media interviews, articles, press briefings, and public speaking engagements for the organization’s designated spokespeople
  • Support preparation of spokespeople for media interactions and public appearances, including briefing process
  • Oversee and manage the organization’s digital assets, including the website, social media channels, and WhatsApp broadcasts.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • Excellent written and oral communications, as well as listening and interpretation skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Analytical, lateral thinker
  • Meticulous, with an eye for detail
  • Able to work independently, virtually, and collaboratively in a large, matrixed organization
  • Strong project management and delivery skills - able to work under pressure, balance several assignments at one time, while prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Possess confidence and maturity to interact effectively and develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Able to work with complex and sometimes technical subject matters and turn them into compelling media stories
  • Knowledge and sound understanding of the local media environment and social media landscape and best practices

THIS POSITION IS BASED IN JOHOR BAHRU CITY SQUARE MALL.

  • Marketing & Communications
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns to enhance brand presence and attract target audiences.
  • Develop concept proposals, marketing materials, and budgets.
  • Foster tenant relationships and cross-promotions.
  • Achieve revenue targets through rental of promotions area, advertising space, pushcarts and other identifiable revenue-generating media.
  • Evaluate tenant/external proposals and make recommendations.
  • Ensure smooth coordination of events and promotional activities.
  • Manage licensing and sponsorship applications.
  • Oversee project management and post-event evaluations.

  • Collaborate with agencies and suppliers to execute advertising campaigns.
  • Coordinate production of marketing materials.
  • Maintain brand consistency in advertisements and promotions.
  • Administrative Duties
  • Prepare budget reports and track expenses.
  • Monitor press coverage and competitor activities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to enhance marketing effectiveness.
  • Manage promotional materials inventory and coordinate publicity efforts.
  • To coordinate inter-departmental liaison on the implementation of marketing and promotions.
  • To ensure smooth and timely installation and dismantling of events/promotions.
  • To attend to issues at the point of event/promotions and to ensure problems are resolved on time.
  • To ensure promotional booth/events display follows guidelines & approval given.
  • To ensure the advertising materials and advertising collaterals are in place for all the promotional events.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Degree/Diploma in Mass Communications, Marketing or equivalent or at least 2-3 years of similar experience in an officer or executive position, preferably in the mall marketing, event company, advertising, or publishing industry.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office). Compulsory working knowledge of graphics applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, creative multimedia, etc. a distinct advantage.
  • Fast-paced, high degree of accuracy & a good head for detail.
  • Creative, thinks “out of the box”.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (oral and written).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.

Manage brand equity

  • Develop market research parameters to identify market awareness and brand association
  • Develop strategies to enhance brand reputation and achieve positive brand equity
  • Develop communication plans for brand guidelines
  • Manage the design and performance of organisation's website and digital and social media platforms to ensure brand consistency
  • Manage actions to mitigate reputation risk exposure based on business impact analyses

Develop marketing strategies

  • Develop market research plans and review research findings to support the development of marketing strategies and plans
  • Review potential target markets for market segmentation
  • Propose marketing channels to reach target customers and market segments
  • Develop strategies to utilise website, and digital and social media platforms for marketing and public relations and to increase e-commerce traffic and brand's presence
  • Formulate data-driven commercial insights to support the development of marketing plans
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to develop marketing strategies and plans

Manage marketing campaigns and events
